This is who to call in the Ann Arbor Area if you need any electrical work done. Great rates. knowledgeable and experienced electrician. polite and clean.

We had Vedder run electrical outlets throughout our unfinished basement. We had called about a half dozen contractors and only 3 returned our calls. Vedder came out within a couple of days to do a walk through and provide a detailed estimate. We have a woodworking shop in part of the basement and the rep seemed to understand what we were trying to do. He made several suggestions on placement and what type of outlets to run. The other contractors that came through to give estimates did not seem to have the same level knowledge and customer service. We received the detailed quote within a couple of days and it was right in line with what we expected. Rob was our installer and he spent two days running the wiring and provided additional advice. He was friendly and courteous and did a great job. Would highly recommend Vedder Electric.

I had someone from Vedder Electric out to my house again to replace another light fixture and as usual they did a great job. The electrician was on time and courteous and he completed the work quickly.

I called Vedder after I had called another electrician who had said that he would come look at the job but he never showed. I called Vedder on a Friday and they came out on Monday. They arrived early, did a tidy job, were careful with my house and furniture, and put everything back in place.
Every time that I have called someone has answered the phone (not a machine where someone might call back later) which is a good part of the battle.

I arrived with two thermostats (to regulate temperature for my two rescued animals) that had stopped working. I was immediately helped and received advice for next steps. Their expertise/​help was provided to me without any expectation of receiving a payment in return. Immeasurably kind and helpful!

Excellent, mellow service, and a little teaching on the side. I had Matt from Vedder in to diagnose & fix an outlet that was showing a variety of flaky readings on my circuit tester; he found and fixed a loose ground connection, and showed me what to look for in the future.
Quick response, too — I called Thursday morning, and they had someone by Thursday afternoon.
Matt didn’t shut off the electricity before working on the outlet — not entirely sure how I feel about that. I certainly do when doing my own work.

We had a tree down in the recent storm that pulled the meter off the house and shut off power. I left a message on Sunday, they were out Monday morning and had it put back together by noon for a very reasonable price.
I liked getting the full story right away, and their prediction on what would happen after power came on turned out to be true.

I was very happy with my service from Vedder Electric. Bob was actually early by about 10 – 15 minutes for the initial inspection for my quote; when was the last time ANYONE was early for something like that? The only small rub was that I had to wait a few days to get the quote, and I ended up calling to get it when it was supposed to be emailed to me, but not the world’s biggest deal. Matt, the fellow who does the scheduling/​front office work, was polite and professional, very helpful.
We ended up getting our old fuse box replaced with a new breaker panel; long story short, we got a new electric clothes dryer instead of a gas one, and the power wasn’t hooked up to that outlet. When our original install date needed to be pushed back a couple of days, Bob came out and swapped out a fuse ‘box’/unit to make sure our dryer worked until we got the whole job done, without any additional cost to us. Now, your mileage may vary, as the saying goes, but I thought this was a very courteous way to make sure we weren’t excessively inconvenienced.
The installation guys were similarly 10 – 15 minutes early for the job a couple of days ago, very professional, and done MUCH quicker than anticipated. Again, your mileage may vary depending on your circumstances, but I’d have no problem recommending Vedder to my friends/​family.

We were referred to Vedder via a local light shop. My wife and I found them to be prompt, trustworthy, and skillful. Rob was great. We will be using them on all future electrical jobs on our residence. Highly recommended.

I own the Ann Arbor T-​shirt Company, and we’ve used Bob and the gang at Vedder Electric for every single installation /​move /​upgrade we’ve needed, which has been quite a bit of work over the last few years.
Projects are always completed professionally, promptly, and within scope, and Bob goes the extra mile to consult /​talk straight with you about what you need.
They aren’t the cheapest, but they’re the cheapest of the contractors that I’d want to do the job, which is a big distinction. We interviewed and vetted a half dozen before settling on Vedder, and have never regretted it. We’ve never had issues with anything that Vedder has worked on for us, and I know that if we did, they would be over to fix it before we hung up the phone.

I’ll toss an extra star Vedder’s way for responding. I have also sent a PM with suggestions for how to handle this situations better in the future.

Trying to get an estimate from these people was a BRUTAL experience. We were trying to get an estimate for rewiring our house and they showed up 30 minutes before the appointment, blew past my wife as she walked into the house FIVE MINUTES EARLY to meet him. The guy said he was done and then it took them 3 days to get us our estimate. I called on Day 1 and 2 to inquire when we would get the estimate and they said by close of business both times. Both lies. Finally, my realtor called and they said «we’ll get to it, its a free estimate anyways so whats the hurry.»
Unreal. Will never recommend them or use them ever.

I have hired these guys for two projects. I was pretty irritated when I asked for an estimate for two jobs I needed done. He would give me a written estimate for my «small» job and it took along time and a few calls to get the written estimate for the «big» job.
The price for the small job was ok so I gave the go ahead, I felt like there would be a problem with the price since he didn’t give me a written estimate so I wrote down the price myself for the job in front of him. The job was completely in a timely manner, no complaints. But of course the bill overcharged me, and wasted more time for me to call them. But the adjusted it back to what was verbally quoted so that was good.
So I went ahead and hired them for the big job, everything was done as was quoted in the written estimate. No problems.
They do a good job, provided they give you a written estimate.
