Not thrilled. In on 6−1−14 around 5pm. No one greeted me. I stood confused for around 5mins wondering if any of the yogurts were dairy free. When I was feed up and pretty sure they didn’t have dairy free I went ahead with a selection. The yogurt was good and toppings are fine. Small selection of yogurt choices. Self serve doesn’t mean you can’t say hi.

We were in the area and saw Yogurtrush and decided to try it. I had high hopes that it would be like Pinkberry, since there aren’t any froyo places nearby. It seemed very similar to Yogurtland in LA where you pay by weight and there were a lot of toppings you could choose from. But when I tasted the yogurt, it seemed more reminiscent of American frozen yogurt rather than the tarty froyo that Pinkberry made famous. Overall, if you’re looking for American frozen yogurt, it’s a great place to get it. But if you’re looking for Pinkberry froyo, keep looking.

The concept of Yogurtrush is appealing enough — get whatever combination of 6 frozen yogurts you want and just pay by weight. On top of all this, you can choose from probably 30 different toppings — who knew you could get Cap’n Crunch as a frozen yogurt topping? In our case, however, the execution was not quite up to the concept. My wife and I were there recently and we both chose two frozen yogurt flavors and assorted toppings. My first bite tasted funny. I know that yogurt is slightly naturally sour, but this was something more… Took a second bite to confirm, and sure enough, this was not sour, but more like fizzy. This yogurt had fermented. I tried my wife’s flavor and it was sour as it was meant to be supposedly(she was a repeat customer), but it still tasted off to me. We took my cup back to the counter, they tasted it and agreed that it was a bad batch. They went over to the machine and closed down that flavor(chocolate if I recall correctly) and offered me a new cup. I tried again, and while I had no fizz this time, it still didn’t seem quite right. Maybe the naturally sour concept has been spoiled for me… I doubt I’ll be going back anytime soon. It just wasn’t what I was thought it would be. Plus at about $ 9 for our two cups, that fermentation didn’t come cheap.

Where to begin? I have been on Frozen Yogurt kick this week — don’t ask me why… after trying Very Berry at the mall, I decided to try other new joints in downtown Ann Arbor(new to me). So after meeting some friends, I swing by Yogurtrush, inside of Amer’s. When I was planning this review, I couldn’t do a review for Amer’s, since it would be unfair, so I added this business solely based upon my yogurt experience. I asked for sample cup and tried blueberry tart and original. I don’t know if they check those machines or not, but the yogurt was dispensed watery and melting. This should have been my sign, but I tired the samples and ended up buying the original tart with two fruit toppings. I’ll admit, just looking at the frozen yogurt made me think twice about finishing it. Why? It was melting! This is why I had to give one start. From the time it started to dispense from the machine to the time I paid, it was very watery. Okay, as for taste — please remove tart when it doesn’t have any tartness in them! Why call it ‘original tart’ when you can’t even taste the tartness? Can someone please explain the logic behind this? It wasn’t as creamy as Very Berry, but it wasn’t up there! Would I ever go back to get Yogurt from here? I highly doubt it, unless they correct those machines and make sure items that has the word ‘tart’, make sure they have the tart taste!
