My friends took me here for my first Korean barbecue experience! We got a table right away and ordered the spicy pork and regular pork. My friend did all the ordering for us. Our server didn’t have the best customer service, but she was fast which we appreciated. They brought us the meat already cooked, which made us feel like they might be trying to rush us out, but we took our time and enjoyed our meal. The food was good and I had an awesome time experiencing Korean barbecue(the soju helped too). Had a fun experience trying something new!

Really like this little Korean restaurant! Its kind of hard to find as its in a small shopping strip, but the food is worth looking for. The spicy pork entrée is so good. A tad spicy for my taste buds but the flavor is so good and it has this really good charcoal taste that really brings out the flavor of the meat. The restaurant is on the small side but very cozy and homey feeling. Wait staff is nice and friendly and tries their best w/helping someone who may not be that familiar w/Korean cuisine choices. Definitely will be coming back.

This is my new favorite Korean BBQ place in Annandale. I knew it had to be good when the stranger who recommended it to me asked me «you’re Korean right?» before telling me where to go. I’m glad I lied and said yes. It’s more authentic(I think– see above re: not being Korean) and low-key than Kogiya or Honey Pig. The bulgogi comes with glass noodles that soak up the marinade and meat juices– so good!

I cannot believe that Annangol only has 3.5 stars. It deserves at least a 4.5 at least(just the food in my opinion) Service is not okie, I had worse in Korean restaurants. Annangol is hands down just authentic Korean that you would have in Korea. If you want real Korean style food… Annangol is probably the place to go.

Can’t say it any better than Will and Alexis. One of my go to bbq places in Annandale. Not as good as their sister restaurant in Chantilly, however still does the best daeji bul galbi and the galbi jumuluk around. The banchan, jigae and steamed were a great complement as well.

Annangol is hands down my favorite KBBQ place in Annandale. It does not look fancy or boast loud KPOP. It is perfect for enjoying some KBBQ in peace. After writing my Honey Pig review I was craving Annangol and luckily for me my gf’s family decided to eat here the next day. Unlike the other KBBQ places they cook the meat in the kitchen and is just kept warm at your table on the grill. If you are looking for the grilling experience in front of you, this will not be your place. They are generous with the banchan, provide plenty of veggies/ettuce to wrap your meat and provide 1 hot bowl of jigae and a steamed egg with your order of meats. If I ever go by myself I will be unsure what to order since I never order here, I just do all the eating. The most important part in my opinion. The quality of meat here is above average, juicy and tender. The service is here reminiscent of Asian restaurants. They will not be going out of their way to serve you, if you need them just get their attention and whatever you need will be provided. Honestly in my opinion this is the best place for KBBQ. It might not be the most budget friendly meal as KBBQ can get pretty pricy quickly, but the quality outshines the typical meats you get at an AYCE, Honey Pig etc. If you are in the area definitively give this place a shot before you go to the typical places like Honey Pig, Kogiya and etc.

If you ask me where my favorite place to chow down on some gogi is, it is — without a question — Annangol. Right across the street from Gom Ba Woo, Annangol doesn’t look like much on the outside. Actually, it doesn’t look like much from the inside either. Annangol is definitely not a trendy KBBQ restaurant with a cool vibe and K-pop blasting from the speakers; in fact, the restaurant looks pretty old and run down. If you can get past that, you will be in for a real treat. The quality of the meat is, on average, quite good. Unlike most KBBQ restaurants, Annangol cooks the meat all the way through in the kitchen. They then bring the meat to your table and place it on a hot stone plate(with grilled scallions, onions, and garlic), so that the meat is kept nice and warm throughout the entirety of your meal. My favorites have to be the galbi joomuluk(tender chunks of marinated beef), taeneung pork bbq(mild marinated pork), and the motnanee pork bbq(spicy pork). With your meat, you get a small, piping hot bowl of jjigae(it’s usually between kimchi jjigae or dwenjang jjigae) and steamed egg. And of course, a generously portioned banchan platter! Annangol is generous with their side dishes, and the waitresses are more than happy to refill. Yesterday, my dad ordered the yookhwe(raw marinated beef). Definitely not for the faint hearted. It’s not every day that you get to eat raw meat, after all. I would say that Annangol’s rendition of yookhwe is average. The beef was fresh, but the flavors from the marinade were lacking. Annangol is no Honey Pig or Kogiya, but I think that’s what makes it so special. It’s the perfect place to enjoy well-marinated pork and beef without all the chaos of the trendier KBBQ restaurants in the Annandale area.(This is not to say that Annangol doesn’t get busy. On Fri/Sat nights, you better believe all the middle-aged Korean men congregate here for post-golf drinks and noms!).

This was my first introduction to Korean food. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They started off our meal with a fried egg. It was delicious. Next, we were served complimentary ban chans. There was kimchi, bean sprouts, eggplant, fish cake, and watercress. They were fresh and plentiful. Next, was the joomollok beef barbecue. It was tender, marinated pieces of beef that were prepared for you in the back. It was so tasty. Then, we had bibimbop or mixed rice. It was made up of spinach, carrots, bean sprouts, and short rib. That disappeared quickly. It had a spicy red sauce that my fellow diners raved about. I was busy finishing off the beef barbecue. It was super good. There was also seaweed soup. I didn’t get to try it, but it was appreciated by the other diners. You can tell this is an authentic Korean restaurant. The food and the service will bring me back for another wonderful meal. Gamsahamnida or thank you Annangol.

More!!! I want more!!! Quaint and cozy. Nice servers. First was a fried egg over easy. Was this brunch? I guess if you’re there right when it opens… ;) but it was good… Then the sides. So tasty! Then the galbi dolsot bibmbop. The rice with meat in a stone bowl. Jumping seaweed! Add as much sauce as you like! Good crispy bottom. Good meat. Love the flavor. Then the joomollok bbq. Meat cubes grilled. Heaven. Please can I have some more??? Perfect tenderness. Great flavor. Juicy… Seaweed soup. Tasty too. Steamed egg. Very nice. I really like this place. And will be back :)

One of the better KBBQ places in the Annandale area. It is a little different here though and pricey. They pre-grilled the meat in the kitchen which provides the«grill flavor» then they brought it out to the table grill to cook it completely. The marinate was just right, the meat was very tasteful and tender. They also had different kind of veggies that you can wrap the meat with, very fresh even when we went at night.

Service here is terrible. The ladies working there today were just plain cold, and rude. We literally walked out as the vibe was just weird, especially since we had two toddlers with us. They lied to us, and then used another lie to cover the lie because we had asked for a bigger table at a time when that place was just empty. Lots of tension and negative vibes… as a Korean, I’m embarrassed at how they treat people. Im sure others had great experiences… but on this particular day, at that particular time, there was no hiding how unfriendly they were. That was the last time I will ever walk into that place again. Creepy.

Came here for a midday lunch to stave off actually doing some work throughout the day. Had the Bulgogi and Spicy Pork Rip(which I think means Rib in English) and was overtly please with both dishes. If you’ve ever been to Korean BBQ you know they give you a bunch of stuff that you don’t know what to do with before you get your actual meal. Much is the same with Annangol and we had an assortment of pickled vegetables and things I didn’t know existed and had no idea how to properly eat. Everything was fresh and flavorful it seemed so no complaints. The Bulgogi was drowning in its own delectable juices and was on par with some of the better Bulgogi I’ve had. The Spicy Pork Rip was just as good, dryer and crispier however so it added a fine contrast to the meal.

service is okay. they have the best jumooluk in the area(use to be jung dae gahm but since they closed i’d say annangol is the best i’ve tried) they cook it for you in the back and then bring it to your table. they put onions on the bottom and the meat on top. they give you a container of green veggies to eat or wrap the meat(lettuce, steamed cabbage– my personal favorite, other types of green veggies, and carrots and cucumbers. they give you steamed egg and fermented soybean soup but the soybean soup is the worst i’ve had at a korean bbq place. most places give you the soybean stew as a free service dish and same as the steamed egg. small parking area, but i have yet to see it too crowded at night. i have always seen at least 4 spots every night. annangol is a bit tiny but i haven’t ever really seen a huge wait.

Thanks to Kuen L. who recommended this place, I have found my new favorite BBQ restaurant in Annandale. It is great value for your money and tastes delicious! They have a good variety of ban chan including steamed egg and soy bean paste soup. The spicy pork and spicy pork belly were really good and they gave us 3 different kinds of lettuce! The veggies were super fresh and crisp. Each entrée also comes with one rice. You don’t grill the meats at your table. Instead they have a grill at your table, cover it with onions then bring out the meat when it’s almost done. That way the meat can cook a little bit with the onions. I actually prefer it this way; since I always feel bad when they’re cooking right next to me and serving us. I didn’t get a chance to try any beef dishes, but I will definitely be back!

Annangol is becoming one of our favorite Korean restaurants in the Annandale area to chow down! This place is always packed with the locals who come in to feast on their grilled meats. Don’t come here looking for a ‘KBBQ’ experience, as they cook the meats you order for you in the back, and place it on the stone plate at your table to keep it warm. This is great, as your clothes will not be permeated as much with the ‘grilled meat odors!’ We stick with the Galbi Jumulruhk(tender & juicy chunks of marinated beef), the samgyupsahl(thinly-sliced pork belly), and the galbi dolsot bibimbop(a nice combination of rice, fresh veggies, plentiful galbi pieces, and a great gochujang sauce that’s not too sweet and not too spicy). I love how the galbi jumulruhk comes with sliced ‘pickled’ onions that’s also grilled up and great to eat together. You get a platter of fresh lettuce, steamed cabbage, and carrots, to make little ssams. A circular steel platter of banchans(yummy ohdeng(fishcake)), in which you can easily request for free refills, is included. Our drinks were always topped, and we were checked up to make sure everything was great — our server was awesome, and the ahjummas here are also sweet and friendly! They are opened until midnight daily, so check them out — it’s a great option in the Annandale area: D +friendly and sweet staff: D +meats are grilled/cooked for you in the back before being served +Galbi Jumulruk is tender & juicy! +dol solt galbi bibimbop is tasty: D +eat up on them ohdengs(fishcake) from the banchan platter(free refills on all!) +situated next to Napoleon Bakery +plenty of parking spaces

I am a huge fan of Annangol. While Honey Pig gets love from the young folk Annangol for me is where you go to eat without getting bombarded by music videos. From the delicious seafood pancake to the main items like pork, beef, spare ribs everything was top notch. The complimentary vegetables, egg stew and tofu stew were great also. They are very generous with their portions also and the spicy squid platter was very flavorful. My friend spoke well of the cold noodle dish which she says reminds her of her moms cooking. Cold noodles aren’t really my thing so I yield to her on that front. Overall I’ve eaten there many times and have had pleasurable dining experience each time I’ve been there. Highly recommend.

Super juicy, tender, and flavorful galbi Ju-mu-luk(). My family’s favorite korean bbq item here/around the dmv. DEFINITELY recommend this. We had to order at least two servings. Each serving is pricey but the meal comes with a variety of side dishes, egg stew, fermented soy bean stew, a bunch of greens to wrap your meat(lettuce, steamed cabbage, carrots, some other green) and onions to Caramelize with the meat. As we were leaving, all the staff also gave us a very kind farewell. Yay! good vibes.

I need to give this place 2.5 stars. I never expect the best atmosphere from Korean restaurants, but I was pretty unhappy with just how cold we all were(yes, we went on a super cold day, but we should not have to keep our winter jackets on while we dine). Service was pretty good(like most Korean restaurants), Even if they were not as attentive as you would like, there is a service button to get their attention. Food — this is what really matters. Annagol thinks of themselves as a BBQ restaurant(chicken DUCK, pork and beef)… while their marinated stuff is ok, I was unahppy that most of the food seemed precooked and was not cooked to order on our grill at our table(why else go to Korean BBQ other than to watch the sweet-soy marinaded protein get seared to deliousness in front of you??) We ordered a couple non-BBQ dishes as well(broiled mackarel, Soft tofu soup with Kimch — aka Soondobu, and Cod soup and Bibbimbapp). All were pretty good but nothing to write home about… i took 1 star off for atmosphere and 1 star off for lackluster food — not to say this is a BAD korean restaurant. but I wanted to taste some good, fermented chilies garlic and ginger all around. and with the BBQ… dont pre-cook it and let the marinade sing the salty-sweet deliciousness that it should.

I forgot to update this review a while ago. Last time we came here was probably last year. Though I don’t recall specific dishes, I do remember we enjoyed our meal and was pleasantly surprised considering our first experience. Perhaps management may have changed or something but we enjoyed our meal. The rest of the folks in our group all seemed to enjoy it too. Hope to have another opportunity to visit so I can write a more meaningful review.

It’s a small place different from other restaurants but great in the sense that their meat tastes excellent and drinks are much cheaper. I like the fact that the meat is pre-grilled and we just have to keep it warm; no burning and no smoke. It comes with tray of vegetables and typical korean side dishes especially the steamed eggs in the stone pot. I miss it already; going back tonight! yeah!
