The nachos is awesome. I come here to watch football and get the freakin best nachos in dc area. Great service and atmosphere. The fried dumplings are best in annandale.

About a 1 – 1.5: The hubs and I were really excited in trying this place out, as DaMoim seemed to be known for their Korean-fusion dishes. The restaurant itself was clean and modern and the service was pretty friendly. We started off with some DaMoim Fried Chicken wings, half soy ginger and half spicy — the chicken itself was crispy, but I wasn’t a fan of either of the coating sauces as it was either too vinegar-y or way too spicy. We also tried the Galbi Tacos that came on warm tortillas with a sesame-chili salsa; there was also a slaw of julienne lettuce and scallions, topped with crushed sesame seeds. The galbi itself was very wet and made the taco itself very soggy; the flavor of it was more sweet than savory, so we both were not fans of that. We’ve also tried the Kimchi Quesadilla, which was filled with kimchi and perilla leaves and a mixture of cheddar and jack cheese in a large tortilla. The tortilla itself was very dry, and the filling was a weird combination — I am a huge fan of perilla, but I don’t think the combination of the perilla and the cheese works! The kimchi itself was also not caramelized as it was described, and the quesadilla seemed to not be greased up or cooked long enough. There was also a Korean hot dog that was available that was topped with bulgogi — the bulgogi was also very wet and more on the sweeter side, just like the galbi, and there was also some sweet tomato salsa that came with that(that I wasn’t a fan of). I appreciated that the dog itself was large, but it didn’t have a nice snap or taste to it, either. I’m glad I was able to finally check this place out but would not come back! +Korean-fusion dishes +sweeter marinades(galbi, bulgogi) +friendly staff: D

I recently watched«Rooftop Prince» and was introduced to Omurice which was the favorite with the Crown Prince and his gang who got time traveled from Joseon to present day Seoul. I was a bit curious about this dish and its popularity in both Japan and Korea. After googling to find the nearest Korean restaurant, DaMoim was the place that had this dish in their menu. I was fortunate to have Tiffany as my server and she took good care of me. I definitely go here for Omurice. The dish was very delicious and hit the yummy spot!

I dunno what happened to this place. Serving sizes seem smaller and some things just taste different. Use to be my favorite spot for a variety of fusion dishes and now not so much. I thought it was just my imagination the last time I went and waited to go again to post my review. Last time I went the bartenders weren’t very friendly and always had to flag them down.

Fusion is a huge trend in the DC area and around the country, but this place has a very loose interpretation of «fusion». They serve Mexican influenced food like Korean-style tacos and Kimchi quesadilla. During my last visit with a couple friends, we ended up getting some fried mandu(dumplings) and a series of tacos — Galbi(Beef), Spicy Pork and Chicken — which came 3 to an order. The dumplings were pretty good so no complaints there… but let’s be honest, who doesn’t love fried food? Then we come to the tacos. While the idea of Mexican and(insert other Asian cuisine here) fusion isn’t an original idea, it should at least be good. Sadly, the tacos left something more to be desired. The meat was just average and nothing to write home about. Aside from the different [standard Korean] meat options there wasn’t any real uniqueness or excitement to them. They all used generic store-bought flour tortillas then topped with cheap shredded cheddar cheese and iceberg lettuce and garnished with cilantro… pretty standard ingredients and very dry. All the food seemed like it would be really awesome drunk food. Overall — the service was good, but the food was mediocre at best. I doubt I’ll be returning anytime soon as there are plenty of incredible restaurants to choose from within a 2 mile radius of this place. So while it’s not bad food, it just doesn’t motivate me to come back.

It’s under new management and the daughter is running the bar into the ground. For a person with a name that suggests brightness is actually dim witted. Some people should not be running a business. Previous owner knew how to take care of their customers and their generosity kept me coming back. I never felt short changed till recent. I was always generous with my tips. However, last night, was the worst visit and left me with bitter taste by the dim witted girl. IF I have to return(not by my choice), I will not be spending a nickel there. I used to be a fan of DaMoim but now, with new management, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Food quality/taste 3⁄5 — decent, not bad, tasted okay. Price to food proportion ratio 3⁄5 — decent, but below average. Service 2⁄5 — servers were attentive and polite when we came in and ordered the food, but after the food came in, they just ignored us. It was not even busy. There were only 3 tables used(about 3 people per table). Didn’t ask how we were doing, never asked to refill our drinks, and one waiter took away my napkin without asking for no reason and didn’t bring me a new one. Building atmosphere/design/cleanliness 4⁄5 — had nice music, decorations, design, and a bar. Bathroom 3⁄5 — smelled good, fairly clean, ran out of paper towers when I used it.

Didn’t order any food so review is primarily for service. Staff was extremely friendly and came around frequently to make sure our table was being attended to. A few members of the staff actually sat down at our table to talk to us and brought out fruit for our table which was a nice gesture. I wasn’t a huge fan of the décor as it had the feel of a typical Chinese restaurant with the giant glass panes separating the bar area from the dining area. But the bar area was clean and had a sharp feel to it. The crowd was definitely an older crowd so if you’re looking for a laid-back type of night, this spot definitely works. Overall, the service is great and I would be happy to go back here and spend money where I feel like my business is appreciated.

3.5 stars I like the décor of this place! The interior of DaMoim was comforting to me for some reason; it reminds me of a hip living room. The pictures on the wall and the bar add a mix of edge that you’d find in a big city like NY. I ordered the Galbi tacos, which were good. The meat was tender and cut into bite-size friendly pieces. One thing I’d suggest is for the tacos to have more interesting fillings. The shredded yellow cheese and lettuce were typical and a bit boring. If they added onions and cilantro, it’d be perfect. The green sauce that comes with it is great. It’s not too spicy but very flavorful to dip your taco in! The kimchi quesadilla was what my friend ordered. He’s Korean and he loves kimchi dearly, so he enjoyed the dish. I thought it was overpowering, but for all you kimchi lovers, it was stuffed with kimchi +cheese! We also ordered a dumpling appetizer, but the name escapes me. I think it was filled with pork and veggies. Kinda on the salty side!

I am a big fan of DaMoim for two reasons. I love the ambiance with the nice bar and that it’s a well stocked bar of spirits and a wide variety of wine. A welcome change from the usual beer and soju options. The second reason — their chicken wings. I think they are way better than Bön Chon’s wings(and not as grotesquely huge as BC’s mutant wings). They are super crispy and flavored well — although, the spicy IS very spicy, watch out!

I’m going to skip reviewing the food and drinks, because when I think there’s something fundamentally wrong with a business and the attitude it has when treating its customers, the rest of the stuff doesn’t even matter. My friend had a big group for her birthday dinner last weekend. I arrived a little late with two other people. We sat at the end of the row of tables we had assembled(there were probably over 30 of us in total). Multiple servers saw us, and yet it took them over 20 minutes to even acknowledge our arrival and bring menus and waters out. Once we finally ordered, it was another 15+ minutes just to get the drinks. We didn’t even order cocktails — how long does it really take to pour wine into one glass and bring two bottles of beer? Of course then it was another almost half hour for our food to arrive; and we had to ask for glassware and silverware. I felt completely invisible and had to work hard to get some attention throughout the entire evening(we were there for a good three hours). I never skip tipping unless there’s something seriously wrong with the service or attitude on a deep and disturbing level, and this was one of those times. Plus — Korean fusion? I’d rather have some real Korean barbecue next time I’m in Annandale. If I want tacos I’ll go to a good Mexican place.

I fell in love with this place many moons ago, actually at a Unilocal meetup for a korean night top be exact(this one of the many reasons I love Unilocal!). It’s a posh little spot in the corner not too far from honey pig. The staff is always so outgoing and warm. This hidden gem is my first choice when in K-town. I have tried a lot on their menu –I frequent this place with my Korean friend so she is always ordering new things each time because it’s done to perfection as she says. I just haven’t tried the fusion dishes or the korean fried chicken yet. My favorite is the bibimbap, hands down the best I’ve ever had and is consistently good! I can never get enough of their dried sweet and spicy squid to compliment the dish. The bulgogi is very yummy too! The mandu is addictive. There is this spicy seafood dish I get sometimes too just can’t remember the name but it’s ever soo yummy. Oh and the kimchi fried rice soo darn good! The drinks are yummy and well executed and the wine selection is good! If you’re in annandale and craving korean or you aren’t as adventurous their is something. on the menu for you, so check it out.

I came in for lunch this past Saturday. The place was completely empty at noon which was surprising considering how good the food was. My assumption is the location isn’t doing the place justice(it’s off to the side in the back of a building). Plenty of parking though! I was a little confused because I saw menu items that weren’t Korean fusion at all. For example, there was caprese, baked brie with honey, and smoked salmon as appetizers. These items had no Korean influence, so I don’t know why they’re on the menu. I’d rather have the chef/menu creators downsize the menu to more interesting items, like those that my friends and I ordered(listed below). Also, our waitress was a little slow and didn’t notice a few key things: when we were ready to order, when we were done with our food, and when we wanted our check. She was hard to flag down as well. However, she was great at filling our water glasses and answering questions. I ordered the spicy chicken quesadilla — it was a good portion for lunch, and the green salsa was super delicious and flavorful. I LOVED the chicken. It wasn’t spicy really, but the flavor was very unique. I could eat this every single day! I also tried the spicy chicken skewers. They were delicious as well, but I wouldn’t consider it a meal. The kimchi fried rice was amazing! Very nice idea to share with a group. Ddukbokki is an appetizer with vegetables, rice pasta(gnocchi), and a spicy, tomato-based sauce. The portion was great as a lunch entrée on its own. The sauce was rather spicy… in a good way! Botttom line: I can’t wait to go back and try other Korean fusion dishes like the kimchi quesadilla, chicken tacos, and bibimbap.

I love the interior here and the food quality. The only bad thing about this place was the service. I definitely do not like coming to restaurants and have bad customer services. I mean they suppose to treat everyone equally. I came here on a friday night with my boyfriend and we were greeted by the manager and he was very polite but our server was so rude and did not smile at us at all. I had to call her couple of times for her attention because she was busy texting while serving us or standing at the bar texting. She did not refill our water at all because once again she was busy texting and I had to call her. I ordered the vegetarian fried rice and my boyfriend ordered galbi tacos. I had to admit, the food was really good. We love it there. We love the environment and food quality a lot, but definitely not sure if we should return if we got our service that bad the first time. Parking isn’t a problem at all since there were plenty when we got there and customers at the bar definitely respect the place. They didn’t smoke inside at all but were nicely step outside and do so. I was very amazed how considerate they were. Overall, everything else was good beside the service.

Korean fusion… wow. I’m usually not a big fan of the Asian fusion restaurants but this places does it up good. It is tucked away in a corner that you wouldn’t think to go into unless you know it’s there. But my sister and I turned into here looking for something else and ended up seeing this place and decided to try it out. So glad that we did! It’s was a Thursday night and it was pretty vacant inside which made us a little nervous. We didn’t realize it was fusion until we looked at the menu which made me a bit skeptical although they did have a few traditional dishes on the menu as well. But I decided to go for it and I’m a believer of going to restaurants and ordering what they’re trying to aim for. Like at a steakhouse you have to get the steak, getting chicken just seems wrong. So I went for the Galbi Tacos which were phenomenal! I really wanted the pork belly ones bc I’m a big fan of pork belly(but then again if you aren’t, there must be something wrong with you) but they didn’t have any available so I went for the next best thing. And with every bite of that taco was a burst of flavor! I’ve had Galbi tacos before and it’s awkward to eat bc the meat can be chewy and it’s hard to bite into the taco without letting the whole thing fall apart. But the meat was so tender and flavorful that eating it was a breeze. And 3 tacos at $ 9, you can’t beat that. I will definitely come back again!

When I dined here on a Wednesday night back in February the dining area was empty. The only patrons were at the bar and seemed to be regulars based on the bartenders knowing their names — kinda like an Asian version of Cheers, I guess. The atmosphere was laid back with its dimly lit interior, making for a quiet meal. Service was friendly and quick, considering I was the only diner. The meal started off with some pretty tasty banchan. I barely made my way through those dishes before my order of spring rolls($ 5) showed up. The order consisted of four tiny rolls filled with crab, shrimp, and vegetables. My entrée was their galbi dolsot bibimbop($ 12). My favorite part of this classic dish is always the crust at the bottom formed by the crispy rice, but this version was lacking in that regard. It was also lacking in veggies and could have benefited from a bolder galbi flavor. The meat itself was tender and plentiful, but a better ratio among all the ingredients would have made for a better dish.

If you are one that isn’t sure if Korean food is for you and want to ease into it, DaMoim is probably a good place for you to go. If however, you have enjoyed Korean food for some time, I’d go to a more traditional sport. I had the seafood bibimbap and compared to the traditional restaurants I frequent, DaMoim doesn’t hold its own at all. The banchan they served was tiny and didn’t offer to replenish. And the bibimbap rice was quite moist and no crust from a hot bowl. The atmosphere is well beyond what I am used to and I give them kudos for that, but I’d rather them focus on the food. Not the place for me but still glad I gave them a shot.

We had a nice lunch here. We had Bul-dog quesadilla, kimchi quesadilla, galbi tacos, and mandoo. All were very tasty. We were the only people here for Saturday lunch so the service was good and the place was quiet. This is at the back of a strip mall so it’s a little difficult to see from the street.

I really like this place now and even though it’s only my second time, I can see this being one of my go-to spots in Annandale. Our party of 14 people was a bunch of loosely connected aquaintances, and because some people were coming later, it made it easier for everyone to have their own individual bills… on a Saturday evening no less. Our waiter was understandably reluctant with this arrangement, but graciously accomodated us even respectully addressing each person as Mr. or Ms. While this level of respect is customary in the Korean language, it can sound a little over the top in English. So they score very high as far as professionalism and courtesy. So yeah, service was excellent. Now to the food. I ordered their famous galbi tacos and the chicken skewers. The galbi tacos were good, but I thought the chicken skewers were incredibly delicious. Soft tender chunks of chicken were made even more moist and juicy with the sauce slathered all over it. I really hope they are always cooked this way because I’m definitely coming back here for more. I really like the ambiance here and probably caters to a more sophisticated older crowd rather than the just-out-of-college crowd. The music that night or part of it was electronica and listening to the Pet Shop Boys totally livened up the experience. IMO this is probably as good as it gets as far as a Korean bars.
