The food is great! Come here with the family all the time to get food. The service is kinda iffy, some days it’s really good while other days it’s hard to get them. The food is always good though. It’s also a little cramped sometimes because there is a high number of seats in a small area.

I absolutely LOVE soju sarang. It is my favorite and only go-to spot for live octopus and sashimi. I get live octopus and sashimi every time I go, and they always taste SO fresh and delicious. Prices are reasonable, and portions are very generous too. I love how soju sarang provides so many different types of side dishes such as kimchi, corn cheese, korean style vegetable pancake, red soup with wheat flakes, etc(they have been tasting a little bit off lately though). The atmosphere here is so welcoming, and their service is always at its best! Overall, an excellent place for sushi and seafood lovers. Very, very satisfying customer service and food!

Excellent service. Sushi was good but I think I’m a sushi snob. It was a lot of flounder but I understand that’s like a Korean sushi staple using the red vinegary sauce. They do have some really unique things like sea squirt, sea cucumber and other things I can’t name. Uni was really fresh and creamy one night but the 2nd time I came, it was small and funky. Overall it’s pretty decent for Korean sushi place especially for the price. Four of us ate a large sashimi special for less than $ 150 but it was enough food for at least 6. Comes with all the Korean amenities like banchan(side dishes) and the maeyeongtung(spicy seafood soup) at the end. I think we got too excited about the sides at first so we might have ate too much before the sashimi came out. But ½ of the sides were fluff like mayonnaisey veggies. I still like Yechon’s sides better but it’s a completely different place. I would still come back especially for a large group who wants lots of sashimi.

We ordered sashimi plate and it paired with a lot of small dishes. The raw fish salad, green pancake, rice with roe, conch salad and mussels were delicious. There was also a fried salmon head. The sashimi plate was ok. The sea cucumber was horrible and most of the plate was cheap flounder. They offered fish bone soup at the end which was horrible.

Based on a recommendation of a close friend, she suggested we go here for lunch since To Sok Jip for delicious hole-in-the-wall Korean has been too overcrowded so we ventured there. We both had grilled mackerel fish(get the Japanese mackerel one) and plenty of banchan(side dishes). This secret-tucked-away place is a delicious alternative to our favorite To Sok Jip which has since been over crowded with lines out the door.

Hae dup bap was on point! The veggie was fresh and they had enough fresh sashimi that I actually tasted the fish and not just the vegetables like most places. Was far better than the ones I’ve had at ga bo ja and will definitely be back when ever I have the craving

went here with my best and had the combo for two, sake, and lobster. the sashimi were super fresh and lobster was still alive when it came out to our table. so many sides that came along with it were delicious. one of the best for sashimi in the area. I do wish the portion of the sashimi was larger but can’t complain as there was already too much food and we wouldnt have been able to finish all anyways. Apparently they have tanks with the fluke and lobster and they literally take it out of the tank alive and sashimi that right away. Cost of the dinner was expected. Def will be back for some more.

Looked for a place for dinner, decided to try this place. Everything else was closed so gave this a shot. We had the Galbi Dolsot Bibimbap and Daegu Tang and both were delicious! We wanted to try the sushi but were not in the mood for it at the time. Will probably try that on our next visit! The food is delicious! As well as the service was fast and attentive. Will definitely come back to visit next time.

SOMUCHFOOD. I have a pretty large appetite. My bf and I got small sushi combo. They brought food out until it didn’t fit the table anymore. I was so shocked at the portions of their food. I wasn’t complaining though ;) I have to say, the sashimi quality is pretty nice. Service is 10⁄10. It is family friendly and also nice for dates. Next time I go there, I’m going with 3 more people so they can help me finish the food!

Alexis K and her family dined at Soju Sarang the night before and had what seemed to be an awesome dinner. They dined on a large sashimi platter with a load of other dishes for $ 150. Truth be told I was very jealous, I have been craving sushi for a long time. So the next day I opted to to-go their hwepdupbap; we called in and it was ready for pick up in ten minutes. If you are unfamiliar with what hwedupbap is, just imagine bibimbap with raw fish instead of the beef. It comes in a huge plastic bowl with the rice and sauce in separate containers. It was actually pretty difficult to mix everything together because the plastic container is fully loaded with food. I feel like they definitely added too much vegetables, almost every bite consisted of a mouthful of vegetables. It felt like I was eating a salad at some points. With that being said both the vegetables and fish were very fresh. The fish was cut in a size perfect for this dish. I will say hands down it was definitely the best hwepdupbap I have had in my life. I am going to come back to Soju Sarang in a heartbeat to try out their sashimi. Judging from other Unilocal reviews I will probably be extremely stuffed with the amount of food they provide. I have very high expectations and I hope to be able to frequent this place when my sashimi crave hits.

I can’t believe it’s taken my family this long to try Soju Sarang. I didn’t expect much going in; my dad was hyping it up and I admit I was kinda skeptical. After being trapped inside the house for days after #blizzard2016, I was just excited to get out of the house. My dad ordered a large platter of modeum(translates to all or mixed) sashimi, which is good for about 4 – 5 people. We got a whole slew of things… yellowtail, flounder, tuna, salmon(AND salmon belly!!!), white tuna, abalone, sea cucumber, uni, and more. The large platter also came with about a dozen side dishes… not banchan, but decent-sized side dishes(steamed egg, summer rolls, tempura, baked mussels, etc). After you’re done with the sashimi, they bring out a huuuuuuge, piping hot bowl of maeuntang(spicy fish soup) for the whole table to share. You get all this food for about ~$ 150, which is not bad at all for a party of 5. I was surprised by the quality of the sashimi. Everything tasted very, very fresh… even the uni. Good uni is hard to come by in the East coast, so I very happy girl indeed. From what my dad tells me, the owner gets a fresh shipment of fish and other seafood from Korea every Thursday. I heard their selection is even better then! My poor boyfriend was upset that I got to indulge in such a good meal despite the blizzard, so we ended up ordering hwedupbap(think bibimbap with raw fish instead of beef) to-go for dinner last night. The are extremely generous with portion sizes at Soju Sarang. I could not finish my food, but I did enjoy the freshness of the fish and the abundance of other toppings. However, they load the hwedupbap up with way too much lettuce, which made the entire thing a little too difficult to eat. Nonetheless, it’s definitely good value… about $ 13 for a huge bowl of veggies and raw fish. I highly recommend Soju Sarang for some really fresh sashimi. I know I’ll be hitting this spot up way more often now!

Came here with a few friends late at night after we decided to eat here randomly while hanging out in the parking lot. We had ordered the medium sashimi which happen to be a perfect amount for 3 people. It was top notch. Having worked in the sushi business for about 3 years making sushi, I would have no problem recommending this place to my friends. The only reason for the dock on a star I have is the yellowtail came out slightly too cold. It was near borderline frozen. Maybe if they had let it defrost completely before being served it would’ve been perfect. All in all its definitely a place to try out. Especially with all the fish swimming out front.

It’s been a while since I entertained my late night cravings with something other than what I find rummaging through my fridge, lol! The place is small-ish and open pretty late — located in Seoul Plaza. Came in at around midnight and the only other diners were getting ready to leave. I was a little worried that service would be negligible and rushed at the same time since we were the only owners. But I was in for a surprise — service was excellent! They took my order right, and left me alone when I wanted to be left alone — Just what I wanted! I had the yellow tail and the spider rolls — both very tasty, and beautifully presented. The edamame was bland and sad, though. My friend had the tempura u-dong bowl, which I tasted and loved! The kimchi and other pickled veggies were average at most. The place was clean, fresh fish tank out front and clean silver ware. I will definitely be back for some more late night grub!

As I always say, being a kind customer always has it perks. My friend and I were craving chirashi on a saturday evening so we decided to venture out into Annadale. After Unilocaling it, Soju Sarang was the winner and boy where we happy we came to this restaurant. Although the place was pretty packed we were seated right away, The menu was a little different from the menu I found on Unilocal so it took us a while to decide whether we wanted to get the chirashi(19.99) or the what I consider the korean version, Hoe Deopbap(13.99). Because my friend and I had never had Hoe Deopbap we asked the waiter what was the difference and she said one had a lot of veggies but both had rice and almost the same amount of fish. In the end we went for the cheaper of the two. The Hoe Deopbap was delicious and very healthy. The very(and i mean VERY) generous amount of salmon was sitting in the middle of a healthy veggie nest and some rice at the bottom of the bowl. There was so much food we couldn’t finish it. Halfway into our dinner the waiter came over and asked us if we could move tables. I am not sure if most people would approve of their waiter asking them to move, but my friend and I had no problem with this. The waiter kept apologizing but really it was no problem. 10 minutes after settling in our new table, our waiter came back and she thanked us for moving tables and brought us a plate of spicy salmon roll on the house. The salmon roll was perfect but I was already struggling to finish my dinner. Overall, Soju Sarang’s food was excellent and their tip-top customer service has earned them a loyal customer in moi.

Looking for a new place for lunch, my friend and I decided to try this place. Had an authentic feel when we walked in. Very friendly staff! We had the Don Katsu and the Hae Mul Dolsot Bibimbap and both were delicious! We wanted to try the sushi, but it seemed a little pricey, so perhaps next time. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be the place for sashimi. The chirachi looked amazing! Will probably try that on our next visit!

Love this place. Period. Very fresh Sushi and their prices are reasonable. The sashimi platter is really good and has enough food for two. Be prepare though, they will overwhelm you with tons of side dishes, which is a meal in itself! Every time we’ve been there the waitstaff is very attentive and nice, there’s a little electronic buzzard at each table for quick service. sushi is very very fresh and well, the live fish is exactly that… live flounder, thinly sliced for your enjoyment.

Frozen sashimi. This is the 2nd time Ive been here. Flounder was great as always but each time, the sashimi was half frozen especially tonight. The pieces of fish were icy and hurt my tooth every time i chew bc it was too frozen. At least thaw out the fish before serving it. Uni was $ 24.99 for two small boxes that tasted like it was from grocery and was prob bought from grocery store. Gaboja over Soju sarang

This by far is one of my favorite sushi restaurants I have been too. I can’t believe they send out so much fish for the platters, if you love Korean banchan and sashimi this is the go to spot. I have eaten at a lot of restaurants in Annandale and the side dishes here are one of the best. The great thing is that when you come they have different side dishes so you get a lot of variety. As for the sashimi itself, it’s very good and fresh. Lots of variety. This is litteraly the only place I know that serves sea squirt, sea cucumber, fatty tuna, sea urchin, geo duck, and propeller clams. There is so many things I want to try here. I know they have things off the menu here. I’m going to bring someone Korean and see if I can get them to order me some live Octopus. Plus the service is fantastic here. The Korean ladies are so nice and attentive. If you have any questions how to eat something or recommendations they are very helpful. Go eat here and bring lots of friends.

Truly my GO-TO place in Annandale for Korean style live fish sashimi. Korean style sushi & sashimi is different from Japanese style so please don’t get the two confused. It’s also different from Chinese owned sushi & sashimi places. They all pretty much use similar techniques but the fish is served differently. Korean style live fish is served with spicy korean bean paste(gochoojang) and all different kinds of side dishes ranging from corn & cheese, mussel soup, tempura, small plate of Japanese sashimi with tuna, salmon, clams, sea cucumber, uni, etc and even live octopus if you ask. I just normally like this style of seafood. I like wrapping my tuna with dried seaweed and dipping it in the salt and sesame oil sauce. I wrap my live fish pieces on top of lettuce mixed together with bean paste, chopped garlic and fresh pepper. I’ll be back.

A more modernized Korean sushi/sashimi restaurant. I’ve only had their sashimi combo platters here but I’m still impressed by how they step up their bahn chan(side dish) game. Once I had bite size bacon wraps and another time they served quail eggs. Look at my photos to see the sashimi combo platter. I always get the combo that serves sea cucumbers. And the combo platters are served with heaping amounts of various sides, steamed egg soup and fermented soybean paste soup(I swear it’s much tastier than the way it sounds) and a huge boiling hot bowl of spicy fish and tofu soup. The combos run between $ 70-$ 90 but they definitely can fill the tummies of 3 very hungry people.
