Excellent Indian! Arguably the best quality I’ve tried in the US, especially taking in the account the affordable price and great interior décor. We went there with a group of friends from Baltimore for a noon buffet and as Indian friends from our group have put it, «definitely worth a 40 minutes drive». This restaurant have also received several appraisals from other sources, ranking among best places to eat in Anapolis in 2015. Would definitely recommend!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing dinner! He got butter chicken and I got Tikka chicken masala and both were just delicious. The Naan bread comes out hot and fluffy. Plus everything is served family style so it’s easy to go with a big group and try a bunch of different things. The service was great-prompt and just the right amount of attentive. I have only good things to say about Basmato. I definitely recommend if you’re a fan of Indian food.

If you haven’t been here for Indian cuisine then you’ve been missing out, that’s pretty much how I felt after eating there. We went there for their lunch buffet and it was delicious! Love it! All the dishes were flavorful and unique in their own way with a really good variety from the favorites like samosas and tandoori chicken to other unique offerings(sorry can’t remember the names but they were delish!). They also have very yummy chai tea too. It really was the perfect meal with salad, soup, meats, veggies, variety of sauces like mint and a tangy hot sauce to rice pudding and a cup of chai for dessert. What a treat, they are on my top ten now. The value is amazing, got to sample a little of all my favorites and try other dishes. I can’t wait to go back, I can see why this place wins«the best of» awards because the voters are right. They also have a very extensive menu of dishes I will have to try off of their regular menu as well. I really think anyone can find a dish they will love here! Added bonus is that they are a white table cloth and nice water glass establishment with pleasant décor. All around a fantastic find for me today!

It took me awhile to try Basmati because the location is out of my normal circulation of Annapolis dining options, but it has quickly become a new favorite! I have enjoyed the lunch buffet, dinner menu and delivery service. While the delivery option was convenient, I missed dining in the lovely interior. I agree with other reviewers, the variety and variations of buffet options is much appreciated for fast, flavorful lunch-time dining.

This was my first time to dine here and I was really impressed with the food and excellent service. The waiter was very polite and made excellent recommendations. The chicken in a spicy coconut sauce was perfect. Great atmosphere and still quiet enough to enjoy dinner conversation, although it was a busy Friday night.

My favorite Indian buffet in Annapolis. They rotate the buffet regularly so there is always something new. The service is very attentive but not obtrusive. The buffet heavily leans towards vegetarian, but they always have chicken tandoori and tikka masala. The fish is usually good. The vegetarian selections are uniformly excellent. Great value for money!

This is a very beautiful restaurant with white tablecloths, waiters in black vests and an extensive bar area. I’m not sure what their business is like at happy hour but that bar is built for a big crowd. It actually looks like it would be good for special occasions(closing off to the public and having a birthday event, etc…). The food was very good and huge portions. We were stuffed! The appetizers were enough for dinner portions. It’s kind of pricey but not too bad if you without wine or beer but that’s usually mandatory for us. :) I would recommend going here if you’re in the area and haven’t checked it out yet.

I come to Basmati many a times to enjoy the lunch buffet w/some friends of mine; we simply love the place, overall food quality is great, always hot and ready and the service is perfect. Brought my family one night for dinner and the food was sought after… I will be back again, keep up the great work Basmati!

Delicious meal and very good service. We enjoyed the tandoori platter, vegetable korma, cauliflower and okra dishes. Lovely Naan bread. Kheer and rose water flavored cottage cheese. Flat bread as starter.

The restaurant is nicely decorated. There were a lot of people there so it was quite loud. The popadoms were a nice touch and tasty. I thought the beer was pricey and the food itself was only ok. Disappointing really. There must be better Indian restaurants in Annapolis.

I was really speechless to have to come back and provide a negative review from this place because last time I dinned here also had their lunch buffet, which I enjoyed very much. I called to place an take out order and once I was told what my ordered was and the wait time. However, after a few minutes I realized that I was not told the amount, so I decided to call what the total amount of balance was and also asked what I got. The person whom I spoke to was very rude who laughed and said«Oh my god.» Excuse me. I decided to cancel my order. Sadly disappointed of the customer service I received.

My fiancé and I went to dinner here last night. I have had Indian food before, but he had never! Let me just say that we both left very full and satisfied! We had an appetizer– the tandoori platter. It was fabulous, although the price was a little high for the actual serving size. We will probably stick to ordering a soup for next time. For our meals, I had the chicken korma and he had the chicken curry. Both were divine. We also ordered some keema naan– so good! Service was excellent and the atmosphere was very classy and romantic. You better believe this will become one of regular spots from here on out!

Delicious food, good serving sizes. Quiet place with decent service and upscale atmosphere(candle and real rose on each table). Server was adequate, but could have been more attentive and personable. Garlic naan bread was amazing. Bengha bahrta(mashed eggplant) was filling and tasty. Chicken tikka masala was spiced well, but the meat was a slightly odd texture(rubbery cubes, maybe over-cooked?). Each dish was a shallow bowl about 6 inch diameter, plus a hefty portion of rice. $ 28 bottle of table wine. In and out in under an hour. Their sign says«free delivery,» which i look forward to trying. Also the lunch buffet is on my list to try.

Good food. v e r y s l o w service. Update: slow service was due to the mad rush of people trying out Basmati when it first opened. Now the service is fine, even great at times. Try the 3rd dish in the chicken section of the menu. Also make sure to get some rotie bread along with your meal.

Wow… Never again. I came here on a Friday for the lunch buffet and I have never felt so sick after eating Indian food(and I have been to many Indian restaurants and homes of my Indian friends). The food must have been packed with a Dead Sea supply of salt! On top of that, the meats and veggies weren’t even marinated or flavored as well as dishes at other Indian restaurants. So I can’t help but feel like a ton of salt was added to mask the lack of real flavor. I’m giving this place two stars simply because I think there isn’t a better Indian place in the area, and some dishes were fairly decent such as the dal and light cucumber salad. Other than that, I would have no reason to return here for the heavy, salty, unauthentic food.

Wow. Very good meal, and definitely will be coming back! We went here on the recommendation of a friend(whom we brought with us), and man was it worth it. Just amazing food, great service, and outstanding value. We split several apps and entrées to try a little bit of everything. The mulligatawny soup was phenomenal! I really loved it, cleaned the bowl! The samosas were huge, too, and quite tasty! The naan was perfectly cooked, hot and fresh, very good. For main courses, we split butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, and a chicken tandoor kebab. Everything was spot-on delicious, from flavor, to temperature, to presentation. Actually, I’m not the world’s biggest hot-spicy food lover, so I was worried about the vindaloo, but I said make it like normal, and it was within my tolerance levels. If you do not do spicy at all, then I’d ask for them to tone it down to be safe(sounded like they would do that), or maybe try another dish, but if you’re expecting nuclear spicy, you might be disappointed. Just wanted to throw that out there. This was great, though, from first to last bite. Definitely going back. I hope to try the buffet someday, too! So very glad to find a solid Indian joint out near Annapolis!

My wifes family was visiting from South India. We decided to take her parents to this restaurant after church on a Saturday for a family outing. We enter restaurant and was guided to a table. Me and my wife are a interacial couple. I am african american and she is south indian. I wish our experience was good but it was not. The waiters avoided us and we had to actually ask them to bring us water. They never asked us if we wanted buffet or to eat from menu. We just decided to eat buffet after no one came to our table for 10 minutes. The place was not too busy at all. Only a hand full of people. The waiters did not come to take away our finished plates so I actually had to pile plates on the table next to us. I just wish people would see each other as the same because we are all human and created wonderfully by God. The food was decent but the service was non existent.

I am always on the look out for quality Indian cuisine. I did the research on Unilocal and heard from a few friends before making the trip to Basmati. Our party of four started with the Tandoori appetizer and Naan. Delicious! We each ordered different entrees and found all of them to be excellent. These guys are really good at giving you the heat level you want in your selection. Beautiful flavors in their sauces. Service was perfect and I love the way they decorated this place. Very good price value. Generous portions, so you are going to get a second meal out of this.

I’m not sure why I haven’t checked in more often because I’ve checked out Basmati several times and it is my hands down fav in Annapolis. The atmosphere is elegant, the tables are spaced such that you don’t feel you are dining with the workmates next to you at lunch, the lighting is mellow and the service impeccable. I love that they have hot chai on the buffet for me to indulge in and their selection of buffet items are always listed on their Facebook page which is convenient and tempting! I LOVE that I can get samosas on the buffet AND a lovely tamarind sauce on the side. They have a nice selection of vegetarian dishes balanced with meat dishes and the spices are not under OR overstated. And, the BEST is that I can stay home in my jammies or comfies and they DELIVER! Seriously, who wants chinese or pizza delivery when I can have Basmati at home! Kudos to the front and back staff Basmati!
