A friend and I had breakfast plans in Annapolis. I live in Baltimore, so I left the restaurant choice up to her. The only requirement? It couldn’t suck. She had been wanting to try Grump’s Café, of course I was game. We were getting breakfast food, so my friend chose the classic option of a waffle, specifically the Golden Malted Waffle. The dish came with two waffle pieces and a slice of bacon, this was a straightforward breakfast dish, but it was still very good. It’s been said before, but I love Corned Beef Hash, so I ordered Grumps Favorite. This was corned beef hash beneath two over easy eggs, potatoes, and a biscuit. The corned beef hash was a touch saltier than I would have liked, but this was still a great cheap breakfast dish. Lastly, we shared an order of Bacon because bacon is phenomenal. The bacon was crispy and the perfect accompaniment to breakfast. If you’re looking for a casual breakfast spot, I’m sure you’ll find something great at Grump’s Café.

Great place in the Hillsmere area next to Quiet Waters Park. We are fortunate to have this in the area. I recommend it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My cousin who drove here from Boston stopped in here randomly to get something to eat while waiting for us to come home and she said it was one of «the best burgers she ever had». Thanks Grumps! Did I mention they have a full liquor license? :)

Love, love, love this place. Yes it gets busy, but so worth the wait. We have never had a disappointing meal here. Delicious food, great staff, awesome atmosphere. Well done guys!

I would give this place a higher review, but I only ate my fried potatoes and toast because of a terrible hangover(I know, I know… my fault completely). Long story short, the potatoes had the perfect texture, but were a bit lacking in seasoning; I fixed this by dipping them in the salsa verde I requested on the side of my veggie omelet(that I did not touch, unfortunately, but smelled and looked pretty good). The toast was basic, no issues there. The fruit cup was nice and vad a good variety of berries and a banana sliced up on top. The coffee was kinda bleh, but the mimosas and bloodies I saw moving out looked much better. Some of the wait staff looked really sloppy in their PJs, but I think that’s the aesthetic. Other than that, the service was friendly, the menu looked awesome, and the prices were fair. I do believe I’ll be back to check this place out when I’m feeling better.

Somewhat chaotic and strange, and not at all what I expected when I picked this place, but the food was surprisingly delicious. The only real disappointment was my son’s blueberry muffin. My sister-in-law and I agreed to meet at Quiet Waters Park to have pictures taken of our kids — a holiday gift for my parents, so they could have some nice, professional photos of the grandkids. I looked up restaurants near the park, and found Grumps Café. Didn’t look at all like I had expected, but we got there before the rush, so we had a good table and after perusing the menu for a bit, we were able to order quickly. We were given breakfast menus so I didn’t even realize there were lunch options until I got to the register, but no biggie. I had tried to place my order in a way that made sense for our table(i.e. blueberry muffin and home fries for my toddler, which is what he wanted), but that didn’t translate in the register, apparently. Our food came out pretty quickly, but the potatoes were with my sis-in-law’s wrap, and I had to remind the server that I had also ordered a blueberry muffin. He seemed somewhat confused, but eventually came back with a muffin wrapped in Saran Wrap that he tossed on the table. Not cool — my sensitive little guy seemed confused that he didn’t have a plate, when the rest of us had normal looking breakfasts. Oh well. The potatoes tasted pretty good and my cheesy avocado toast or whatever it was called was actually delicious, so if I find myself in the area again and in need of food, I just might stop in. I would just hope that everyone at my table at least gets a plate, regardless of what they order.

I wasn’t impressed with this place… I really wanted to like it. First of all, it’s extremely small. And packed. You have to go up to the cash register line to order your food and drinks. I felt very rushed since the line was so long and I couldn’t hear anything. I ordered French toast and sausage. Like I said, I couldn’t really hear so I guess I ordered one slice of French toast. Most of the French toast I’ve had has been large, thick slices of bread. I got one piece of small French toast on a plate. Literally, it was like a piece of regular white bread with cinnamon. I never got my sausage… The French toast itself wasn’t «bad» but it was just not what I was expecting. My boyfriend got a breakfast burrito, so I tried some of that. It was pretty good. He also got a side of home fries(which I ate half of since I only got a piece of bread). They were just potatoes. Nothing special. I tried a sip of their Bloody Mary, which was also okay. Overall, I was super uncomfortable here. The service wasn’t good because the place is so small and everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I’m all for a great hole-in-the-wall breakfast place, but this was just a messy experience. I wouldn’t be 100% opposed to trying breakfast here again but I would definitely be sure to order something else.

We just moved to the area a month ago and this has quickly become a regular spot for us! My daughter Sophia loves coming here and the staff treat her like family! The pancakes and eggs are always our main go to we don’t really steer too much away from that, even at dinner time!

Great place to have a casual breakfast with family and friends. Appears a tad chaotic, but it is controlled.

BESTCRABCAKEINTOWN! And I’m pretty picky! Fresh, great seasoning, huge! Large chunks of crab with minimum filler. Cool décor, very plesant & hard working staff. What else could a lady ask for?

Great spot if you like your food greasy, drowning in cheese, and huge. Staff wears pajama pants which is… supposed to be cute I guess? If you’re a slob, you’ll probably love it.

Interesting Place. Stopped in for a burger. Didn’t know anything about the place so I thought I’d give it a whirl. It is fairly small inside and very loud dispute the fact it wasn’t crowded. I was a little turned off by the staff wearing pajamas, looks sloppy and unprofessional not too mention a little gross. I did enjoy my guacamole burger. Much to my surprise it was made with a real fresh mashed up avocado not the premade green goo some places use and it had a beautiful and delicious home grown ripe tomato. Very good. I will go back for breakfast sometime since the food was good and that’s the point of eating out.

This is a fun ecclectic place. Staff wears pajamas and you get a bath squeaky toy to save your table. The food is ok, not great and they have TV news shows on in the morning. Not my favorite atmosphere, but… OK. Gets busy on the weekends so you may have to wait. Outside tables are fun to bring your dog along.

What a fun place with lots of character. I sat outside on the picnic tables since I had my dog with me. I opted for the all day breakfast menu which was pretty good, but what hit it home for me was the milkshakes!

Neat atmosphere and lots of choices. The veggie burger was a little mushy but the milkshake was delicious. They messed up on my husband’s sandwich and put mayonnaise on it which was disappointing. I would give this place another try but hopefully next time it’s better!

I don’t know how this place got this many stars. Went here for the first time a week ago. The staff was so incompetent it was unbelievable. And the food was so horrible we had to ask for our money back! Which we never do-but it was BAD! Never again.

I keep stopping in on occasion just to see if things have changed. They haven’t. The atmosphere is so loud, you can’t have a casual conversation without yelling. The staff all seemed very nice but overly stressed out except for the people at the front texting waiting to ambush the next person that walks in. I don’t mind the wait on the food. It is reasonable for made to order. Only be prepared that the food may be cold or just wrong. I’ll stick to my usual breakfast place. They remember who you are and what you like. Msg me if you want to know the name. This review is about Grumps.

This is such an adorable restaurant! I visited here last weekend because one opened up in Crofton close to my work, and I wanted to try the Annapolis one out while I was already in the area. We came in around lunchtime, and it was packed; I’m surprised they even had seating for us. The décor is colorful and fun, you can tell it’s meant to be a very casual and relaxed atmosphere. The servers were all wearing pajama bottoms, which I thought was awesome. In addition, the employees were all very attentive and friendly, not a single complaint here. The wait for the food(which was reasonably priced) wasn’t bad, and my whole group loved everything they ordered. I got the mimosa shake(which was as fabulous as it sounds; it was like a creamsicle), and an order of french toast and sausage. The french toast was great! Big, fluffy pieces with tasty cinnamon butter. All in all it was a good experience, and I most definitely plan to visit the Crofton location soon.

I really wanted to love this neighborhood joint, but after many visits, I’m finally sick of its lousy breakfasts. The final straw was our guaranteed last visit when we were served cold pancakes, the wrong food, frozen(tasted microwaved) potatoes, flavorless omelette, and watery salsa. next time I’ll just make my own breakfast at home. We used to go here a few times a month but now have a solemn vow: no more breakfast at Grumps. I haven’t tried other food there. To their discredit, they don’t read or respond to customers’ reviews.

Grumps was goooood. I loved the theme — very laid back just kinda«whatever/laid back/just relax and eat» atmosphere. I loved the waiters and staff all in pajamas and the toy they give you with your table number. The staff was friendly(i was glad the pj’s didn’t MAKE them lazy — they were great). I loved the décor and that little fun facts about the place AND the food were written here and there on the walls(i think i saw a couple menu recipes too!) The ordering process is kinda weird — you have to order BEFORE you even sit down. So as newbies, my bf and I had to stand awkwardly by the counter and kind of in the way(because the place aint THAT big and more people were entering.) We literally were not allowed to sit at our reserved table to decide what to eat. Wasn’t diggin that — ½ star off. This ordering process also means that if you decide you want something else during your meal, you have to go up to order it(and possibly wait in a long line to do so) — another ½ star off for that. The FOOD is amazing. French toast done well with cinnamon honey butter which was scrumptious. The corned beef hash was on point. The fresh fruit was indeed fresh. No complaints on either side. Would love to go back and try more of the menu, OR even have the same thing. They do offer a good variety of options. They also had some interesting cocktails and adult milkshakes on the menu(and written on the walls) that ARE available for breakfast…(ahem).
