Every Year I’m amazed at the view of this road when I head up North towards Baltimore on I-97. For about 10 miles or so before you get to 32, I-97 cuts through a rural part between Crownsville and Annapolis. On both sides of the road you will see some beautiful foliage. In the spring, this road is lined with flowering trees that stretch all the way from Annapolis to 32. In the Fall on that same stretch, the reds, oranges, and yellows are so beautiful that you might not mind sitting in this traffic for a while. You might be tempted to take pictures. Apparently Bacon Ridge Natural Area borders the highway and that’s why it feels like you are driving through country side on this road. It’s so calming to drive through here everyday on my way to work. Traffic is pretty nasty on this road at 50&97 around 0730 – 0830. It’s one of the major roads out of Annapolis. what stinks is that all the radio stations give great reports on the DC& Baltimore beltways, but not so much on 97 unless there is a horrendous accident there. Then maybe it will get some air time in the morning. As always, because this is a Maryland highway, there is also some incompetent driver that will wreck on this highway when it rains and back up traffic for miles. I-97 takes you from Annapolis straight to Baltimore(ends at the 695 beltway). Its probably the fastest way you can to Baltimore. Watch out for speed traps! There’s plenty of them on this road so be watchful if you suck at getting out of tickets.
