The food was delicious and service was excellent. The owner was very friendly and came by twice to check on us. Get the guacamole!

The food here is legit. You can’t get a bad meal but my two complaints are 1. Location– it can be dicey just walking into the place and the parking is terrible. 2. The margarita tastes like something I would have drank when I was 18 at a pub– you know– because you don’t know better. It’s just not good. If this placed stepped up its margarita game(it is a Mexican restaurant!), I’d be sold! If they developed their own mix that was fresh, it would kill!

This was a last-minute, «we’re hungry» stop and it was fantastic. Not an overly enthusiastic storefront, and the dining is very casual, but the food is amazing. The guacamole was perfect, the chile rellano was top notch(the tomatillo sauce is as good as I’ve ever had), and the dessert(bananas tempura) was excellent. For a lunch, it’s hard to beat. If we ever end up back in the area we’ll be stopping by again.

Visited this weekend after hearing great things. The outside is deceiving but very spacious on the inside. We were seated right away and immediately brought waters and fresh chips and salsa which makes this place already a winner in my book. Baltimore restaurants could learn a few things from here. We started with a big bowl of guacamole and it was very good! Definitely made fresh. We ordered a variety of items — enchiladas with mole sauce, enchiladas with tomatillo sauce, chimichanga, and some Honduran specialty which essentially was a steak quesadilla/taco. The food was really good and flavorful. Loved the enchiladas with mole sauce especially. The portions aren’t overly huge, which I was okay with so I could actually finish my plate. Probably slightly on the pricier side than other similar Mexican places, but definitely worth it. Overall, great service and food and will be back when we are in the area!

We went here yesterday. The tacos were the best we’ve had since we left SoCal. The service was wonderful. They were great with my two kids.

Second time here. Very good! First time I had«Chili Relleno» with their green sauce! Wow! It was great. This time I am having the Fajitas! Very good also. The chips are served warm and the salsa is home made, not that red suite in a plastic bottle. The owner came by to greet you and it was not like other places, he actually took some time and listed to what I said. Very personable. Order the top shelf Margaritas! This places does not measure — they pour

Excellent enchiladas mole; to die for flan, guacamole could have used a bit more spice and seasoning but you got a nice portion. Great prices

I don’t know much about Mexican food. What I do know is that I’ve been there twice and both times I felt the meal was great. First time I was there I had chicken wrapped in wax paper. Amazingly tender chicken where the chicken just fell off the bone. Second time I was there I had a shredded beef dish. The taste had a tomato base but the spices gave it a nice hint of heat. Side of plaintains and the plantains were done very well. Not mushy or burned to a crisp. I’d recommend a side of grilled veggies which cost $ 2 and not on the menu. Otherwise the side dishes dish are carb and starch heavy. Last… the drinks are meh. I watched my bartender/waitress make my drink. It was just a mix of stuff. Nothing measured.

Three and a half stars. Enough parking in the attached lot, bar with a TV separate from the family-friendly restaurant. Earnest management. I was craving a Cuban and ropa vieja, and SF scratched the itch. Housemade chips were served with semi-spicy, watery salsa. They were kind enough to bastardize our sandwich upon request, which had a properly conservative ratio of bread to pork and swiss, plus a few pickles. Simple french fries cooked through without seasoning. Ropa vieja and sweet plaintains were both a little dry(and the vegetables dotting the meat could have been cooked down more) so I’d give Cubano’s the edge on those; I do like that it was accompanied with casamiento instead of segregated rice and beans. Future hit list: cordero a la barbacoa, pork chop a la mamajuana, yuca con chicharon, lomo saltado, baleada, and a giant margarita.

Lomo Saltado and enchilada mole were fantastic! We will definitely be going back. The flavors of the dishes we ordered had depth in flavor and the meats were seasoned just right. They have a good selection of seafood dishes to chicken, beef and pork. The mole wasn’t super sweet w the right amount of cocoa and texture. I can’t wait to try some of the other Latin dishes they serve there.

Upgrading to 5 stars based on their consistently delicious food and outstanding customer service. That big ol’ margarita I had was wonderful as well.

This place never disappoints! We came for dinner on Saturday, July 18 and sat on the porch. It was a little hot and we ended up with the entire porch to ourselves, but inside was packed. My boyfriend and I were celebrating his birthday, and we each ordered drinks(a frozen margarita and a Corona), along with queso and guacamole for appetizers. The queso was very good, but was completely overshadowed by the guacamole. It was amazing! Fresh made and so flavorful. I could have eaten just that as my meal and been completely happy. We each ordered a chimichanga as our main dish. They were great — fresh, stuffed full of messy, cheese and beans, and huge portions. I think the prices are very fair overall, and comparable with other restaurants in the area. Service was prompt, but I am never able to tell who my actual server is because 3 or 4 people are bringing you food and drinks throughout your meal. For that reason, and because the porch is next to a busy road and isn’t that scenic, I give Sin Fronteras 4 stars. Otherwise, they are amazing!

Honestly I just don’t see it. Here is the rundown. Ambiance: it shares a space with a run down liquor store with bars on the windows. Inside is ok. Service: redonkulusly bad(yes that was redonkulusly not a misspelling). For being so slow you think you could get the order right. You never know who your server is and it doesn’t matter anyways because they all are equally bothered by you being there. Food: entrees are actually pretty good I had the burrito and my wife had the Cuban sandwich($ 11.99). Both were great if perhaps a little over priced. The meat is some of the best cooked selections I have had in any restaurant let alone a Mexican one. One caveat, the chips are just sad. Summary: good food but not worth the wait, price, and bad service.

Pondering my options for Mexican food while in Annapolis & Unilocal led me to Sin Fronteras Café. It was hopping on a Saturday night and the wait for a table was less than 20 minutes. The owner came by to introduce himself and to welcome me. He asked how I heard about Sin Fronteras Café & also explained that the food is cooked to order, not microwaved & freshly made onsite. He didn’t lie; all of my items were on point. I started with the shrimp ceviche & the fried calamari. My main entrée was the chicharron en salsa verde. That translates to crispy sautéed pork with onions and cilantro topped with green tomatillo sauce served with white rice and warm tortillas. I was very satisfied with the portion size and the price paid. Our hostess Daniella was courteous and even gave the run down on how to make horchata at home. I appreciate it. It showed that she could relate to customers and that she enjoys a good drink too. Fair warning was given to patrons who were dining that the lights would be dimmed momentarily for an unsuspecting diner celebrating a birthday. It was a surprise for her indeed and her family/friends appreciated to cooperation & birthday singing from neighboring tables. There is an outdoor dining area if the weather permits. The servers were bustling w/those seating inside and outside during my visit. Not a cross face in the crowd; everything @ Sin Fronteras says see you next time.

I’ve been on Unilocal long enough to know that you can find some amazing tacos in places with less than no atmosphere. Still, Sin Fronteras features the biggest disconnect between the menu and the ambience that I’ve ever encountered. The food isn’t just great, it’s pretty sophisticated and incredibly varied for a strip-mall location with an interior that still looks only partly finished. The menu at Sin Fronteras is longer and more seafood-oriented than most Latin American places. I’ve only been once and so can’t comment on most of the items, but that one visit convinced me that I’d enjoy just about anything I ordered because their sauces are just exceptional. I had the enchiladas with the best mole sauce I’ve ever tasted, hands down, and sampled the shrimp in garlic sauce that my companion ordered. Both were the kind of sauces that motivate you to use every last grain of rice to sop it up. The owner stopped by as we were finishing our meal(scanning the other reviews, I see that this isn’t an uncommon experience) and emphasized the care they put into making the sauces(«Another half-hour and this would’ve been overdone»). He’s from South Florida and the menu apparently reflects the mix of Latin cuisine found there, which makes sense given the variety of dishes. It wouldn’t kill them to spruce up the interior a bit, but I’m not going to subtract a star for that. I’ll be back any time I’m anywhere in the vicinity.

Well I did not expect Mexican food at this level in Annappolis! Boy I was wrong! This may look bad from the outside but inside is one of those hidden gems that we all search out. So if your a fan of authentic Mexican than stop as soon as possible, if you are not sure put on your adventure hats and make the trip. The Lamb Babacoa I indulged in was just right, a beautiful braise with a nice smokey heat, wished I was a passenger so I could have some Mezcal to go with it! My friend adverse to heat had the mariscada soup which she survived, and actually loved, though to much food for her, I could not leave a thing! Also the staff was great and owner present and invoked with his customers and staff. So on your next visit to the area and craving a Mexican fix stop here!

A+! Loved the whole experience. This place is a bit off the beaten path, but it’s worth it. Exceptional service and exceptional dishes. We had fresh guacamole, fresh salsa, a veggie taco salad and a carnitas dish. As a vegetarian, the vegetable selection served with the taco salad was cooked just right and was so delicious. freshly grilled asparagus! On a salad! The owner was there that evening and introduced himself and he was just a genuine pleasure and interested in his customers. Just truly an outstanding experience. We will be back … probably too many times.

We finally went to this place after returning to Annapolis 4 years ago. I had HUGE expectations from what I’ve heard and read about the place and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious but the Chili-con-queso(Cheese Nachos — or however you spell it) was the best ever! We sat out in the bar area in the booths against the window. It was very lively and active on a Friday night. A small line formed a few times for people waiting to be seated. There is a larger room in the back with bigger tables. The bar was very crowded but the bartender(and owner) still found time to visit our table at least twice to make sure things were to our satisfaction! We want to make this our regular Friday night dinner hang out!

A couple of weeks ago, I was out with friends lamenting about the lack of good Mexican restaurants in the area when a friend suggested that I try Sin Fronteras. I was surprised to learn of its location, as I’m frequently in the area but never noticed it before… guess it pays to go back just one more block, huh? So on Saturday, after being beat up by the trainer, I decided to stop in and reward myself. They do have outdoor seating on the deck with umbrellas, but it was a little warm with a threat of rain, so I opted to go indoors. Inside was nothing fancy, but it was clean and colorful, and the staff were friendly and quick to seat me. I opted for the Pollo Tropical, and I can say that I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for something not deep fried or smothered in cheese. A juicy tender chicken breast covered with mango salsa and served with a side of rice… let me just say that if you’re afraid of flavor and prefer food that is bland, this is not the place for you. But if you want something that’s going to explode with flavor, then come on in! And how could I forget the chips and salsa? While the salsa was a little hotter than what I typically like, the flavor was fantastic, very different from anything I’ve had in any of the other places. To be honest, I wouldn’t really call this place Mexican, although they do have some standard Mexican fare, but they have such a nice mix of Central American options too. I didn’t try the margaritas, as it was only lunch and I was by myself, but my friend told me that I must go back and try them. Well, if I MUST…
