I think it’s pretty pertinent to write that Sly Fox will only be open for another couple of weeks. They are officially closing their doors New Years Eve 2012. Unfortunately, the owners have no choice and will be relocating to another location on Main St., just a smaller environment and without the awesome outdoor hangout sesh spot. Now on to the review. Came here for a first date after the Navy Homecoming Football game. It was the perfect environment — chilly October, with outdoor heaters, live music from good ol’ Eddie(never fails to be there on Saturday) and reasonably priced drinks. The bartenders were super friendly and attentive and the crowd was relaxed. I much preferred the upstairs patio to the downstairs pub, but Sly Fox was a gem in itself. Was located right off of the Annapolis«circle» and provided entertainment to a great crowd, mostly midshipmen of course. I’ll be down in the Annapolis area this weekend and will be making my usual stop-in at Sly Fox to pay my respects. Cheers to the owners; that they have a successful«move» to Main St. and that eventually, what will become«Fox’s Den» prospers just as well as Sly Fox has.

This place usually looks packed when I walk by it, but when we came here the other night it was pretty empty. Not sure what the reason was for that. The drink I had was pretty bad but they were willing to make me a new one to make up for it. The tented backyard is gorgeous, though. The tables and lighting is reminiscent of an outdoor wedding. I bet it would be lots of fun when its more crowded.

No more dogs allowed, so I really don’t have much of a reason to go there. Certainly not to watch some type of silly sporting event.

I’ve been to Sly Fox a few times over the years and I’ve always found it to be a laid back atmosphere to enjoy warm outdoor weather with your dogs and friends. Yes, you can bring your dogs until 7pm — which is a nicety considering how few dog friendly places there are in the area. The drink selection is moderate — a few good Flying Dog bottles available, and the sweet potato fries are amazing. The main entrees are good– although expect a medium done burger rather than a medium-rare perhaps.

I’ve been a fan of Sly Fox Pub in Annapolis for many years, especially during the spring and summer when the outdoor area is open and the live music is playing. It’s a great spot to visit with friends and enjoy a fabulous night out in Annapolis. Bartenders are attentive and make good recommendations. I’ve only eaten here once, and honestly can’t even remember what i had, so apparently nothing noteworthy. The other great thing about Sly Fox is the location. Since it’s right off the circle and not down by the water, it’s not really as crazy crowded as the pubs down by the water. Prices are reasonable as well.

Upon asking for a recommendation for a nice outdoor bar in Annapolis we were told about Sly Fox from a friend. Even after being in AAC for many years I’m glad that there are bars like this one I haven’t experienced yet! We walked there from the parking garage on Main St. and entered through the side(I guess it’s the main entrance) and went down the little staircase to a very interesting, cave-like room. It was small and had a bar on the right side and couple tables and chairs on the other. It seemed like it would be an awesome spot to be on a cold winters night. I’ve never seen something like it. We passed through and into another room(similar to the first but no bar) where there was a group on a Haunted Pub Crawl, funny! Then proceeded up some stairs and finally found where the action was; the outdoor patio! It felt like we had arrived at a house party in someone’s back yard. The bar area is small but the couple bartenders were working very diligently to serve people their drinks. I ordered an orange crush and was happy when I saw them squeeze half(I think) a fresh orange in it. Yay! The area where the live band(! can be good/can be bad.) was playing was extremely crowded so we went up some steps to a more intimate table area where you could still see/hear everything going on around you. It was a really nice place to hang out. The brickwork in historic Annapolis gives it that cool, old-school feeling. The only bad thing about our experience at SFP was the band. they were bad. They played songs everyone knows but in a mono-tone way; every song sounded very mellow and the same. Blah. If I knew who they were I would avoid future nights they are featured. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. Haven’t tried the food yet but will next time(and up the stars if it’s good!). I hear you can even bring your dogs to the patio which is nice for the people who walk them down by the water and around town. I will definitely be back to Sly Fox!

Ok so I figured Id try this place since fellow Unilocalers claimed it was good. I didn’t go to eat, so I cant comment on the food. I went at about 10 pm on a weeknight to grab a beer. It appears to be a small, somewhat cramped place in a basement. As far as the deck and live music I had read about, I didn’t get to experience any of that. All in all, this place sucked. Maybe I was there on an off night but I don’t see it? Its tiny, cramped, and nothing special. Way better places in town than this.

I really enjoy Sly Fox. It is THE place to be in the summer. Hang on the back patio on a beautiful evening and you will be sure to enjoy yourself. Sly Fox normally has live music just about anytime in the summer and I believe they also offer live music in the tavern Thursday-Saturday. My 2nd favorite thing about Sly Fox, besides the patio, is the food. Sly Fox produces some delicious food that I am a huge fan of. Their lamb, salmon, tuna, and tomato mozzarella sandwich are all personal favorites. They also make some great wings. Next time you are in Annapolis, stop on by this Annapolis favorite hot spot. QUICKTIP: you better hurry to this restaurant while you still can. Rumor is that Reynolds Tavern is not renewing Sly Fox Pub’s lease and they will be taking over the back patio and basement tavern. I am not sure what type of changes will be in store, but I can almost guarantee the menu will get a complete makeover. Pros: Good Food, Live Music, Relaxed Atmosphere, and always a great crowd hanging out. They are also cigar friendly, which is a pro for me… probably a con for most. Cons: In the winter, the downstairs gets«cramped» more often than not. In other words, the inside bar is not an ideal place for large groups.

This was the neatest little nook of a place! The drinks come large, and the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed stopping in here on my brief trip to Annapolis. I hope to return next time I am in the neighborhood!

The Sly Fox is so charming and quaint! It fits right in with the historic feel of Annapolis and is found in the basement of the historic Reynolds Tavern. I came for drinks and, as someone who prioritizes ambiance as much as the drinks themselves, I would definitely recommend this place! Intimate setting, two small cave-like rooms, two bar scenes, and live music at least on Friday. This is not a good place for dancing, however, given that we got kicked out while enjoying the local beats.

I am really picky about how my drinks are mixed and these guys did a great job. They are quick even when it is packed, which it was when I was there. Great staff and a very old world style pub. Aces in my book.

***Review for their afternoon tea*** Call me and my husband old fogies but we love afternoon tea. When Ryan S. and I were in England a few months ago, we really enjoyed their tradition of afternoon tea. For $ 7.50, you get a large pot of loose leaf tea(I chose Earl Grey, he chose Chai) and 2 scones with butter and cream. The scones were light and flavorful and the tea was a nice pick-me-up before our drive home. I should have asked to sit outside since it was such a beautiful day but instead, we were seated inside with 3 large parties so it was quite loud. Otherwise, if I were in the area, I would definitely return.

The weather had finally warmed up and was perfect for sitting outside on the patio and watching the dogs tumble under a nearby table. Tuesdays $ 2.50 domestics and $ 5 burgers are a deal. I wish my burger came out medium like I had ordered it. I used to go for the well-done until I realized that it’s kinda dry. So now I always order medium because it usually comes out medium well. This grill must’ve been happy because it was more like well! It was a lot of meat on a thick kiser bun and they were generous on the guacamole. All in all, it’s more about the ambiance and of being under the trees with the nice fresh air. They have the gas heaters for the winter time or on chilly Fall days too. Weekly Specials Monday– ½ Price wine bottles & Pub Trivia at 8:30pm Tuesday– $ 2.50 Domestics, $ 5 Burgers Wednesday– Crush Night: $ 6 Orange & Grapefruit Crushes Thursday– ½ Price Wings, $ 3 Corona, Corona Lights, Live Entertainment Friday– Happy Hour 3−6pm, Live Entertainment Saturday– Live Entertainment Sunday– $ 12 Unlimited Bloodys & Mimosas w brunch entrée purchase

I’m a fan! Stopped by on Saturday night after a quick beer at Davis’ and was ready to get my drink on. The pub has a cave-like feel to it, with two main rooms that are rather small. Both rooms have bars in them — one a bit more set up than the other. A jazz trio was playing and they were fantastic. My husband and I sat at a high top to listen/watch and made some friends with fellow revelers. We had a great time! Really good energy that night!

Best trivia night in town — and best sweet potato fries too! The other reviewers are right — it’s wonderful out on the patio in the summer, but the winter is nice and cozy in the pub too. My favorite bar in Annapolis! You get a feel for the history of the city with a fun bar atmosphere.

Sly Fox is at it’s best in the summer — but only because you can sit outside. It is really great all year round. The bartenders and servers are friendly, they always remember regulars, and their happy hour prices are pretty decent. Try the Foxy Fries, the steak wrap, the apple grilled cheese and the goat cheese salad. Better bar food than the rest of Annapolis, and in a town full of bars, that’s saying something!

First visit to the place was great. Lots of outdoor seating and still packed at 9:30 pm. It is a locals restaurant that I highly recommend. We had the Mahi Mahi and the Citrus Rockfish which were both excellent. I will defiantly be returning.

I went here one sunny evening with a friend and fell in love with this place! It’s a great atmosphere! It has an outside tiki bar vibe going on, live music, and you can bring your dog! SOLD! The bartenders are super friendly, and the drinks are great! I’ll def be back next time I make it out to Annapolis!

This pub is downstairs in the basement of Reynold’s Tavern. It’s really small and can get cramped and congested, especially when they have live music. The main area by the bar is almost entirely standing room only, but there are a few pub tables around the perimeter but the chances of people bumping into you are pretty high. For food I got the $ 14 fish and chips which seemed expensive to me. When it arrived I was pretty disappointed to see that it was just one soggy piece of fish. After eating it I felt like I had barely eaten anything and it wasn’t very enjoyable. Their drink offerings are pretty minimal as well with just a few beers on tap and nothing really out of the ordinary. So despite some average to below average offerings of drink and food I still had a good time here. It’s very cozy and can be a nice intimate spot to enjoy some live acoustic music when they have people in there performing. Probably a great spot to meet up with some friends for a casual drink before heading out somewhere more exciting.
