We came in for a quick bite, service was prompt since it was only late afternoon/early evening. We placed our orders. Tito Burrito, Buffalo Burrito, & Nachos. We were SUPER hungry but we didn’t have huge expectations, as the ENTIRE staff was clearly American. Let me just start by saying I was HOPING we’d miss judged a book by it cover… décor was an ATTEMPT to «look» Mexican(at quick glance), but the Christmas Tree Shop décor should’ve been a hint to their«cooking skills»!!! Some may THINK that running into Walmart & getting: a few bags of pre-shreded cheap cheddar cheese, El Paso Refried beans, some sour cream, & boxed yello rice is a good recipe for even«American Mexican» food… well you’d be COMPLETELY, UTTERLY, &INSANELYWRONG. as this place is!!! They tried to use very intense spicey seasoning to cover up the lack of REAL cooking skills, by OVER spicing the food. Ultimately it just tasted like they ran to Walmart as mentioned & accidentally dropped the bottle of spice into the pan of meat. Not to mention the burritos had just a few ingredients: LOTS of boxed rice, some meat, & a TON of OVER spice! I feel REALLY bad because as I said I REALLYWANTED to like this new comer to the area! If we weren’t OVERTHETOPSTARVING… I’d have asked for a FULL refund!!! Don’t waste your time & money on this place… as you’ll THOROUGHLYREGRETIT!!! Can I give them a negative three stars!!!

Good modern Taqueria — not the heavy greasy old-fashioned kind you get at some places. The Fish Tacos are especially tasty, as well as the Quesadillas. The more complicated Burritos are pretty interesting, the regular old stand-bys not so much. All in all a great quick, light dinner.

Took my daughter for lunch and it was awful. The food was bland and tasteless and way overpriced. I was disappointed since there are no good Mexican restaurants near my home.

This place is good for a quick filling burrito and everything else I’ve tried is ok too. It’s not bad but I don’t think I’ll be eating inside. You probably won’t be amazed by it but you won’t be disappointed either.

I ordered from here the other night, the food was ok but tasted like something I could have made at home. The cheese nachos were terrible(part my fault for having the delivered, but the meat was disgusting). The burrito and salad were ok but overall I was very disappointed with the food. The price is the only reason I’d go back.

Ordinarily I don’t review take out or delivery because I don’t think it’s fair to the restaurant to rate their food when it isn’t fresh from the kitchen, but I am making an exception tonight. I ordered a fajita with a bit of hesitation because I didn’t know how it would taste when it wasn’t brought to me on a sizzling platter. The delivery guy got a bit turned around so he called me and quickly figured out where I was. He came in and ran it up to me. I could tell it was important to him to get my food to me quickly. As for the quality, it was great. I loved the fajita and it was still hot. Sure it wasn’t a sizzling platter, but it was as good as it could get after being driven over. Very great job tonight. I love knowing I have a Mexican option in my delivery rotation.

Love this place! Ive only been to the full-serve location in Seymour, but I went to the express kitchen yesterday with a friend and was very pleased! I don’t know if I just caught them at a really good time, but I ordered the chicken chimichanga and it was nearly twice the size of the one I get in the Seymour location. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy, with lots of cheese! Service was very fast and everything tasted so fresh. While I like the ambiance of the one in Seymour better, this little joint is great for a quick and casual lunch with friends, and would also be an excellent spot for fast and fresh takeout. Downtown Ansonia desperately needs more places like this!

Okay, so I’m kinda confused from the previous reviews. We ordered take out from here twice and it was not good, both times. Most recently we had a steak burrito bowl and a quesadilla. The burrito bowl was 75% rice, black beans and tasteless corn. The steak was chewy and flavorless. The quesadilla was greasy and gross. You’d expect it to be crispy with peppers and onions. Nope. Just oily chicken, not even salsa on the side.(I guess you have to pay more for salsa?) Not worth $ 20. Never going back.

My wife is very very picky when it comes to eating out, so needless to say I was pleased when this place was given her stamp of approval. Good, quick, inexpensive Mexican food. I personally love the pork taquitos and the taco salad(yeah I know it’s not really a salad). I much prefer this place to Pancheros.

Hot Tamale Taqueria is the best option in the area for pick up or delivery when you want something other than pizza or chinese. Their burritos are exceptional and the prices are reasonable.

The chicken tacos are delicious! Juicy grilled chicken covered in cilantro and onions. Don’t bother getting the rice and beans side. Seemed I could get better buying preboxed rice and canned refried beans at the grocers. Tex Mex beef tacos were ok. Nothing compared to the chicken! Price was reasonable $ 22 for 6 tacos, 2 small sodas, and rice and beans for 2. I’ll be back for those chicken tacos!!!

It was our first time ordering from this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised with the high quality of our salads.
