How has Craig not been reviewed here yet?! I can’t say enough good things about his work! I called Craig for a quote on a 2,300 sq. ft. condo in the NW suburbs that I was preparing to sell. He showed up on time, appeared knowledgeable about his craft, and was the only one to write up the estimate on the spot. He told me that he’s being painting for 20+ years, so he knows what involved once he’s viewed the space to be painted. The walls of this condo were nicotine covered in many places, and he assured me he could get it covered. I had another company tell me the walls would need to be washed. I’m not discounting their method, but would cost me at least 1K more had I gone that route. In the end I went with Craig because he appeared confident, experienced, and honest. His quote was somewhere in the middle of the five quotes that I received. The contractor that provided the lowest quote appeared unsure of what I wanted, and didn’t offer advice like Craig had during the quote walk through. Craig made many good suggestions, all of which worked! Some of which involved other issues in the condo, like how to clean stained vents, doors and frames. I like that he shares his knowledge and offers suggestions. He went above an beyond when he also did some handy work that I didn’t expect a painter to do. The only con I would mention is that he books fast, Spring-Fall. So, unless it’s winter, or raining when he has an exterior job going, he might be able to squeeze a job in, otherwise plan to book in advance. The only other thing I noticed later while vacuuming was that some small splatters of paint made it to the carpet, and there was small spill in an area on my kitchen tile/grout. The kitchen spill had been cleaned up well, but you could faintly tell it was there only because the surrounding grout was dirty. Not a huge deal as the color was very similar to that of the carpet and tile/grout, and since the paint is water based I’m hoping it will become less noticeable as both are cleaned. I’m a little confused on how that happened when I saw them using a drop cloth… I did inquire about his service area for another job I have in the Oak Park/River Forest area, but that was a little too far for him during prime season. If you live South of the NW suburbs, call and maybe he can get you in during some down time, or around the off season. In the end I paid $ 3,500 for a big 3-bdrm 2,300 sq. ft. condo, and would definitely hire him again!
