Nice people but boats were very dirty. The one we rented was actually broken, but the one we got it to replace the broken one had weeds growing out of its deck and the steering wheel was so sticky I couldn’t touch it. If they cleaned up their boats and kept them maintained, I would recommend renting from them because of the price.

I’ve rented their fishing boats 4 times, and a pontoon once. This is a great place if you’re looking for an affordable boat rental to fish on the Fox chain. The fishing boats are big enough for 3 guys. The smallest pontoon could probably handle 6. We rented the pontoon for 2 couples though. I would recommend Barnacle Bobs as long as you’re planning to fish, or sort of just lounge around the lake. Like the other reviews said, if you’re looking for a fast boat, a modern boat, or a sparkling clean boat, look elsewhere. This is an affordable option for people who need access to a boat on the chain. Service has always been good for me. Plus, they’ll usually let you borrow anything you forget, like a net or stringer. If you’re with women, you might want to stop for the bathroom before you get there. There’s isn’t that great. As a man, I don’t care about that.

We rented a pontoon this past Saturday. It was a 10 person pontoon. When we booked the reservation, Tom asked us how many poeople we would have all together and we told him 6. He explained that anything over that, that the boat would crawl, so we thought we were good to go. We arrived early and were led to our boat. It was disgusting. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The seats were torn and full of mold. The carpet was full of dirt and ants were crawling all over everything. We decided we would take the boat and see how it goes, afterall we were all planning on spending all day on the chain. We started our boat and left the marina. Quickly we learned how slow the boat was. It felt like we were doing no more than 5 – 10 mph. The boat was a total piece of crap. I looked at the capacity of the boat and it said 10 persons max, 1400 pounds, 2000 pounds total including persons, gear and engine. It also stated that the boat should have a 60HP motor. We were nowhere near the 1400lbs max weight, and the boat only had a 40HP motor… It was under powered. Here’s where the story gets scary. 3 times throughout the day, the front end of the boat dove underwater while we were in motion. This caused whomever was in the front of the boat to run frantically to the back of the boat as fast as possible. We thought we were going to sink and lose all of our valuables. After the fist time the front of the boat sank, we moved all our coolers and belongings to the back, hoping this would fix the issue… well… It didn’t. The front end went under two more times and none of us felt safe riding in the front of the boat. We called Tom and told him what was happening… How slow the boat was, how the front end kept diving under water. He gave us attitude over the phone and demanded that we brought the boat back in. He also told us that at one point the boat we rented had once had issues with the pontoon tubes taking on water and that might be the case again this time. Once we got back to the dock, Tom was pacing on the dock and started to give us attitude while we were docking the boat. We tried to explain that we did nothing wrong and that his boat was to blame. He insisted by how the boat looked in the water, that nothing was wrong with it. I argued that there was definitely something wrong. That it dove underwater 3 times and that it got slower and slower as the day progressed. He threw up his hands in the air and told all of us that«he didn’t have time for this» and ran off the dock. We demanded that we not pay the full 300.00 for the day because of all the issues we had and how badly it ruined our day. The only thing Tom offered was to give us 50.00 off and for the next rental he would give us his personal pontoon boat with a 90HP motor. I refuse to rent from Tom/Barnacle Bob’s ever again. Clearly they do not take care of their boats or check them out before they rent them to another party. The attitude from Tom was unprofessional and un-needed. He better change his tune before he loses all his business to surrounding boat rental businesses. 250.00 for a terrible, fearful day on the chain doesn’t sound like fun… Does it!!!

Rented a pontoon 6÷9÷12 for a Bachelor party. The prices are very reasonable and the boats are decent compared to the other places. Everything on the boat worked as it should. Owner was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back and rent from Bob.
