Cozy little café that needs a major attitude adjustment. Food and coffee are decent but overpriced. But that’s how most café food and coffee is these days. They have a separate room on the side that groups can even reserve on Thursday nights(their only late night of the week). My only issue is some of the gals behind the counter don’t seem that thrilled to be there. One of them can be downright unfriendly and acts like it’s a hassle to take your order, especially if she’s busy chatting with female friends there, or flirting with some guy that comes in. My thought is, if you don’t care for your job that much, or you’re so easily distracted by others besides actual customers, why are you working there? I would have given this place a higher rating if the customer service was better. It’s a lovely little place, but I wish the owners would replace some of the employees with folks who actually care about their jobs. I’ve kind of lost interest in going there due to poor overall customer service, but I’ve only gone there during the week. Not sure how the weekend staff is. I also don’t understand why cafes like this have such limited hours. Thursday is their only late night and most folks work until 5pm and the rest of the week, they’re closed by then. This place has so much more potential if a few changes were made. Sigh.

I like this local small business. They have a rustic vibe and is a quiet place to read a book or use your computer. Not only is it a café but it also has a antique store connected to it, and they sell books, candles, and gelato. There is a fireplace with couches near by. I once ordered their Ruben sandwich which I didn’t really like but my dad did so there is that. I like their soups but I mainly go there for the coffee/tea and a quiet place with wifi.

Yesterday I decided to stop by Café Book for some gelato as I had my wisdom teeth extracted the day before and couldn’t handle most foods. I stopped in around noon. This was my second time getting gelato here, and I was once again really happy with it. I got a large gelato for 4.75 and the lady made sure to overfill it with the mint chocolate chip and chocolate gelatos I got. My boyfriend got the same gelato and loved it, and also got a wrap which he said was really good. I’m eager to go back and try some of the solid foods they have and will definitely be back again for more gelato.

Here I go again, trying to support local and this is what we get… Okay first off its cute, small but nice. The pastries were stale and not a good selection. The lattes are super hot it took me 30 minutes to even start to drink! The service is the reason I won’t ever return(as well as the not so good beverage). The lady(owner I’m guessing) was NOT friendly at all. Bad vibes like she didn’t want anyone in there. We’ll lady you got what you wanted. I’ll never return.

Nice little café but the drinks aren’t very good neither are the pastries. The service is what really made me stop going here. It’s not welcoming and I don’t get good vibes. It’s really not my type of café I was hoping for to work out of. Still on a search.

I have been here a couple times and really wanted to like it. It has such a cozy atmosphere and I like that you can browse the antiques from the coffee shop. However after having a food, a latte and drip coffee I have to say I do not think the food and drink is on par with the furnishings and atmosphere. My main issue is that both times I have had their drink coffee I have found it very watered down. I’m not looking for Starbucks bold coffee, but I don’t want tea either.

Cute little place to read your favorite book or just pick up a hot beverage. There are comfy chairs near a fire place or tables for studying. I enjoyed stopping here and taking time to myself to relax.

Warm and cosy café with pastries, gelato and quite possibly the best vanilla chai latte I’ve ever had. Seriously, I could bathe in that stuff. I’m not sure you’ll find a better coffee shop in Antioch.

My favorite community coffeehouse. The baristas are always pleasant and they make the most delicious spiced chai tea latte! I always try to stop by when I’m in town. With their frequent visitor card, you get every 11th drink free.

Sometimes I’m surprised how I can live so close to places I never knew existed. I’m always looking for new places to try and that often takes me out of my little hamlet, but finding Café Book was a welcome surprise. It’s a mere few miles from me and the kind of coffee/pastry/bistro/bookstore that really invites you to linger. You can enjoy your coffee, tea, sweet or savory items on couches next to a fireplace or at the tables and nooks nestled within the café. There is even a little nook designed for your little ones with short tables and chairs, some books and baskets of toys. It’s the perfect spot for a quiet lunch with girlfriends or your sweetie. While you wait for your order, you can shop in the rooms attached that are filled with all sorts of home décor, vintage and new items, books, especially celebrity cook books, and more. It’s cozy, cute and has some tasty items. My café au lait was particularly good. There’s no one here rushing you out or buzzing about with frenetic energy all hopped up on caffeine jitters, although the gal behind the counter was working her tail off all by herself, so I definitely tipped accordingly. Buy a book, or bring your own, and saunter on up to the counter to order some of those delicious looking pastries and a nice cup of coffee, then have a cozy seat of your choosing and stay as long as you can, just like I did, if only to find shelter from the sub zero February day waiting for me outside.
