this business is closed! Unfortunately the Sandwich shop is no longer open, for those of who loved their products it is really sad. I just wanted those of you who don’t know to not inconvience yourselves by thinking you were going to get a great sandwich, etc.

First, I want to say that the person who took my order was friendly and the shop is clean and in a good location however my BLT left much to be desired. It is $ 6.75 on their board($ 6.25 on their take-out menu but I didn’t take one until I was leaving the shop). While it is listed as a triple decker bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo sandwich I did not want all that bread and didn’t want a roll so asked for it on two slices of wheat toast. I first asked for 7 or 9 grain bread which they did not seem to have so ordered wheat which is just fine with me. The problem is that for $ 6.75 I expected a delicious, at least 1″ thick sandwich, filled with bacon, lettuce and tomato and a decent amount of mayo. Instead, and I am being careful in properly describing the sandwich, I got one layer of tomato, the slices being about 1/8″ thick at most. Somewhere between 1⁄16&1/8″ but I’ll give them an eigth. One thin layer. The bacon was the same! Slices that were re-heated in the microwave behind the counter. If they were fresh and micro cooked then please excuse me, but they tasted and looked like they had been previously cooked and reheated. Again, if not & they were micro’d fresh, my mistake. BUT the real gripe is that there was only 1 thin layer of bacon. That is, the bacon strips were broken up into small lengths and laid on the bread. One thin layer. Where the heck is the delicious, juice portion of bacon I expected for close to 7 bucks?! The lettuce consisted of two thin limp pieces of lettuce, not even close to crisp. Granted it was a leaf lettuce, perhaps Romaine(?) but c’mon… 2 exceptionally thin pieces, side by side! The sandwich wasn’t even an inch high! I am an average eater speed-wise and ate this one in a couple of minutes. I then drove over to Nation’s on Railroad in Pittsburg and ordered the identical sandwich, asking for mayo instead of the mayo-like dressing they use by default. For $ 3.90, $ 2,85 less than Mr. Sandwich, I got at least 5 or 6(honest!) delicious, freshly grilled strips of bacon, well over a ¼ inch of lettuce(ok, iceberg, but crunchy and fresh, not a thin, limp tasteless piece) and a double layer of juicy tomato, much riper than that on my Mr. Sandwich BLT, each piece a full 1!8″ thick. Also about twice as much mayo as was on my Mr. Sandiwch BLT, but not too much. The Nation’s BLT was perfect, HONESTLY twice as high, piled with all the ingredients. It was delicious. The Mr. Sandwich was the thinnest, least-filled and ‘juicy’ BLT I have had in ages. Do they do this to save money or don’t they know how to make a decent BLT? I mean nearly $ 7 bucks! Forgive me, but when I spend that kind of money for a BLT at a local sandwich shop I expect a nice, delicious mouth-watering BLT, not to mention that I asked for 2 instead of 3 slices of bread. I am no spokesman for Nation’s or for that matter, believe it or not, even Kaiser Hospital’s BLT’s which are over a buck less and nearly as thick and delicious as Nation’s. Even Lee’s Deli in SF(a chain of sandwich shops with 1 in Bezerkeley, not to be confused with Lee’s Vietnamese Sandwich shops, both excellent chains IMHO) makes a delicious, piled-high BLT on 9 grain or wheat with strips of re-heated bacon that’s to die for. Please get with it, Mr. Sandwich, and make the type of delicious, piled with ingredients BLT as described above, especially for $ 6.75. I could go on with another half dozen places in the Bay Area that make a great BLT for your price or even a buck or two less. I’m willing to pay $ 6.75 but want a really good BLT at that price!

This is a nice place to stop for a quick lunch. I left with a veggie sandwich on wheat, jalapeño chips, and a diet peach Snapple for less than $ 7. They have a wide selection of hot and cold sandwiches. While making my sandwich, the woman asked if I had been there before. I said no and she told me that they usually put a garlic dressing on their veggie sandwiches and asked if that was okay with me. I really appreciated her asking me and I requested a «light» amount. I am really glad that I didn’t pass on the garlic dressing because it was a really delicious addition. I was worried about it being too garlic-y but it was a perfect amount to add a little flavor but not affect my relationship with other people that I saw that afternoon. They also have ice cream. I considered just getting ice cream for lunch but since they aren’t called Mr. Ice Cream I decided to stick with my original plan to try a sandwich.

My boyfriend and I went here on a whim. Actually, he looked up a place called the«Lunchbox» and thought that was the address. I guess it was, but since then it’s received a name change and probably a make over. I don’t know how long it’s been opened, but when I was there in that area a couple of months ago I didn’t see it. They have music playing that adds to the feel of the place. When you walk in on the left hand side there’s a lounge like area and there are a couple of tables. They have sundaes, salads, and sandwiches. There might be more, but I can’t remember now. They allow you to have the sandwich alone or make it into a combo which means adding a soda and a bag of chips. They have natural chips and a selection of bread at the counter so you can see what you are getting. The have bottle sodas and water or you can opt for a fountain drink which is Pepsi related. The ironic part of it is that they have Coke wallpaper all around and have Coke bottles in the refrigerators. OK time for the meal. I had a turkey sandwich on a sourdough roll with just the garlic spread, lettuce, and tomato and it was GOOD! I took one bite and went, «This is better than Mr. Pickles!» The garlic spread made it taste good without being too powerful. My boyfriend had the hot pastrami sandwich and it was hot. I forgot they allow you to choose hot or cold. He said it was better than Togo’s. I’m going to go back and try a salad because if their sandwiches are this good I can only imagine their salads. They do deliver, but I’m not sure if they have a minimum. They do accept credit cards(Master and Visa and Discover). Went back recently and had the spicy chicken sandwich. It’s one of their specials of the day and it looks like it’s on Thursdays. I ordered that and my boyfriend had the rosciutto and it was tasty! We decided that if we order a sandwich that we would eat give each other the other half. I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s one way to try two sandwiches at once time. I’ve also had the Michelle and that was pretty good.
