Cowboy Cookin’ was open for years at the same location, was sold, changed names and then this building was shut down completely. The business has reopened, I don’t know if it’s the original Cowboy Cookin’ owners or new people, but the place is definitely not the same. My family and I stopped in this weekend, looking for a good BBQ place and know the original Cowboy Cookin’ always left us full and happy. The same cannot be said now. The menu has been cut down, which I understand in these times, but it’s mostly burgers and a few sandwiches. Gone is the sampler patter that allowed you to chose multiple BBQ meats and mix cowboy beans or other sides. Gone is the Killer Tater that I loved, in it’s place is a cut down version missing the green onions, and bacon, with all of the flavor missing. The place is clean, if lacking the charm it used to have with the peanuts in the shell on every table, and the cowboy memorabilia. I can’t say we’d go again, between the prices and the lack of choice, and the loss of charm, it’s not going to come back to our favorites list.
