Another Indian restaurant closed down. Again I am not surprised. They should learn something from New York restaurants. Sigh!

I am SO disappointed. Tamarind has such wonderful food, and we eat here frequently, but after tonight, we will not be back. We came in with our 2 children and there were 3 other tables seated in the restaurant. Yet we waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order. When she finally came to take our order, she took mine, then *left the table* — I had to call her back over to get my husband and son’s orders. Another 10 minutes go by(so 25 minutes since we sat down), and our drinks had still not been brought out. As we were getting up to leave, she came back to the table with one drink in hand, my husband’s beer. And it was not the size he ordered. She also did not have my drink. Incredibly poor service.

Great Indian lunch buffet and price. Very polite and attentive staff. One of my favorite lunch time locations.

I love all the south Indian joints we have in this area, but sometimes I have a hankering for a meaty north Indian dish. We were happy to stumble on Tamarind to satisfy that hankering. As a intro to this place, we decided to try the non-vegetarian thali for two so we could try a variety of items. At $ 42, this 3 course dinner was a great deal, and very tasty to boot. We started off with vegetable samosas & pakoras – piping hot & fresh. Entrees included vegetable korma, lamb curry & chicken tikka masala with garlic naan. We got it spicy, and thought the level of heat was perfect(nicey spicy, but not too hot to finish). We were stuffed, but had just enough room for a taste of gulab jamun for dessert. There was also an alternate choice of rice pudding, but we couldn’t resist those syrupy little donuts. The service here was attentive & friendly. Between that and the food, we’ll be back when we get that urge for meaty curry again.

This place is just great. We think it is some of the best Indian in this area, and it is very reasonably priced. Highly recommend lamb vindaloo, but really, there is just no way to go wrong here. Awesome. Must try!

I am new at Indian cuisine, so i was not sure what to expect, simply hoped that it is not very spicy. the place appears to be almost always empty –at least around the time i go– my first impression was negative as the waiter simply pointed at the other side of the room for us to set at a table, so he did not walk us to the table or anything like that. and that is something i want to stop and emphasis, if you are stuck on what we are used to at other places then maybe you wont like this place. If you can go past those minor things, you are in for a surprise. The food was very good, i have been back twice already, and have been trying new things, i have not ordered a single item that i did not like. The food is great. i will be back again.(Samosa, chicken Briyani, Tandouri Chicken… etc.) taste is great

Walked in the door at lunch and the air was filled with wonderful aromas. The buffet was fantastic.

Fantastic Indian food in Apex, we eat here at least twice a month. My personal favorites are the malai kofta and gobi tawa masala

In the words of my forefathers… fuget about it. We went for Sunday Buffet… first of all…$ 12,00…unbelievable. When we first walked in, we weren’t expecting much. The buffet actually looked small from the entrance and the décor left much to be desired. But looks can be deceiving. The buffet had plenty of options… including samosas, vegetable pakora, saag, chicken tikka masala(the staple of any Indian buffet in America). Everything we ate was great. The chicken wasn’t rubbery(as can often be the case with tikka masala buffet), the samosas were some of the best we had. THM(Take Home Message): If you are White and think you know good Indian food… then definitely go here. If you are Indian and want good Indian food… I think this is the place for you too. You can’t beat the price for the options and taste.

I am giving Tamarind 5 stars because this food is so delicious! and because I want them to have a high rating! YUM! I ordered the lamb vindaloo — I ordered it spicy and they really delivered! It is so heavenly! I’ve been here for dinner a couple of times and it seems like the place is usually empty — I want you to go there because their food is so good they need to get more people in there! Go Eat enjoy! Yes, the garlic nann is superb!!!

I’ve been here three times for dinner over the past few months, and this is my new favorite Indian restaurant.(I say that based solely on dinner entrees, not the lunch buffet). Even with that said, the dinners have been great. Fresh, tender, moist, hot, flavorful, well presented, nice variety, and just plain tasty! I have not had a less-than-yummy dish here yet, even when I trade plates with my wife. Every time I’ve left, I’ve said«wow, that was a good meal». The staff have been nice and helpful and timely. Definitely a recommend. I’ll be going back next time I want Indian. It is a bit pricey for a strip mall location, but the meal is good. It’s a step down in formality compared to Saffron Restaurant, but I’m not sure it’s a step down in quality.

We’ve eaten at Tamarind India Bistro many times over the past years and this is my first write-up for them. First, I’ve never had to wait in line — a big plus when I’m in a hurry. Second, I’ve never had the buffet bar because I’ve always been for dinner. Third, I’ve eaten at almost every Indian spot in the RDU area over the past few years and we keep returning to Tamarind. It is always a good sign when you you walk in and see large Indian families being served as is often the case when we’ve been there. I’ve also run into my physician and his wife, whom are from India, on more than one occasion and he says it is one of his favorite spots as well. Our last visit I got the Baingan Bhartha which is one of my favorite dishes. The flavors were on target with just the right combo of spices to make me happy and still sweat a bit. The eggplant was perfect. We also had an order of Rosemary Naan which was prepared and served piping hot off the oven. As a treat, we usually request the Mango Lassi which helps with the pepper heat if things get too hot. If you are in the mood for Indian and are over by this area in Apex, then I certainly can think of no better place than giving Tamarind a try. Cheers.

This place is very good! Variety of options and I am a fan of the Garlic naan! I never had seasoned naan, but boy it was great! Will try again next time I come up to NC Cary office :)

Yummmmm! I have been on a bit of an Indian food kick lately, and this is one of the best lunch buffets I have been to so far! Plenty of meat and vegetarian options. There are samosas and gulab jamun on the buffet. And, they bring fresh naan to your table. It’s a bit out of the way from where I usually am, but it’s definitely worth the trip!

One word: Amazing. I don’t have enough words to explain how yummy the food is here. I give them 4 stars for how delicious their food is, how quick they are with their orders and their wonderful service. The only reason I take 1 star away is because of their buffet. I’ve been a couple of times and the food in the buffet doesn’t taste as fresh or as good compared to when you order from the menu. Since during lunch you can only do buffet, I’d definitely recommend eating there for dinner and ordering from the menu. p. s. — Their margaritas are awesome! They even taste better than having margaritas at a mexican restaurant. Every time I eat here, I get one without fail.

We have been here several times for their lunch buffet and it is consistently good!(And we drive a good 25 miles just to come here!) Yesterday we decided we needed an Indian food fix. Hopped in the car and made the nice drive to Apex. Got there and there was a 1-year old birthday party going on in the main part of the restaurant. They put signs up for«regular customers» and directed them to a little side part of the restaurant for our dining. They set up a smaller version of their normal buffet. It was almost as nice as the normal version. We were disappointed to not get to have the awesome biryani that is normally part of their buffet. They make the naan fresh, piping hot and buttery!

I’m guessing there aren’t a ton of Indian restaurants in the Apex area so Tamarind makes for a good choice if you’re in the hood. A nice spot with good service, the menu is pretty standard N. Indian meaning you get to eat meat! I tried out my fave chicken tikka masala along with some garlic naan. The food was decent but I gotta say, the tikka masala was a bit too tomato-ey(is that a word?!) for me. Otherwise the place was solid, though if I come back, I’m tryin’ something else!
