Ashmore is a quiet horse farm tucked away in the Clarcona area. You in drive past lush grass pastures dotted with jumps, including some natural looking cross country jumps. The main barn is fairly small with another side barn nearby. There is one sand ring with dirt paddocks on the perimeter. The horses seemed happy and fit, although I didn’t see any turned out in the grassy field, only dirt paddocks. The paddocks were fairly small but at least enjoyed nice shade from the large oak trees. I chatted with the owner, Hilda, and a few of the barn staff. They seem like a knowledgeable and friendly bunch. There were plenty of articles and photos of Hilda doing what she does best, jumping some impressive cross country jumps. The barn also has instructors that focus on hunter/jumper and dressage. The barn participates in local, as well as National shows. I’m looking to start lessons again and this place’s prices are significantly higher than the competition. I’m not sure at my level it would be worth the extra cost but for someone with high dreams and deep pockets this may just what they’re looking for.
