BJ’s carries many different types of supplements. This smaller store has quite a bit of product. The store has more than you would think. They have different breads, frozen items, sprout jars and more. Store manager Linda has been in this industry for a long time and can help you with your supplement needs.

I don’t know if this BJ’s on Hwy 18 s affliated with the one in Victorville, but this one’s small and smelled like medicine, overpowering enough to make me want to leave quickly. They had a few notable items like vegan cakes and cookies and maybe some teas and shampoo soaps, and some vegan frozen food, but otherwise, you can get things like Kettle Chips and frozen Indian food at your local grocery store. This place was just mostly rows and rows and rows of vitamins and herbal supplements, which contributed to that particular hospital medicine-ny smell. Maybe the one on Bear Valley’s better?

It’s so small! :(Are there any other natural food stores in the HD that have more products?

I’ve been coming to several of these(all but the Barstow, although someday… someday…) stores for many years. I know the whole story, how they started, who is running them these days, who got to retire, what’s going on with some of their children, and they know all about me as well. It’s nice that, despite the difference between number of employees to number of customers, at each store, they recognize me. In terms of quality and price of products, they are right on with their market. If I am out of town, I do shop at larger franchise/chain stores, but I am no more satisfied and do not get as reliable of advice as I do from these locals :) kudos and thank you!

I’ve had the pleasure of coming to this store several times, and each time I had friendly, knowledgeable service. They have wonderful multi-vitamins, organic foods, herbs, and bio-identical hormone creams(wonderful for those with menopause or endometriosis). This is the only place in the High Desert I will go to for a natural approach to dealing with health problems.

BJ’s is, for the most part, a decent health/vegetarian store. This particular store is, like the location on 7th St. but unlike the much larger store on Bear Valley, fairly small. Common items are vitamins, yeast free bread, many items with no added sugar or high fructose corn syrup, various energy drinks and bars, and frozen vegetarian food. Their prices are(understandably) higher than average. For example I bought a bottle of water there the other day and it was $ 2.50 because it had added electrolytes. Also, more common items like Emergen-C are more expensive than they would be at Long’s or Wal-Mart. But supporting a local business is worth a few extra bucks. My only crticism is that the employees seem to think that BJ’s is some kind of vastly superior market because they offer an OK selection of OK foods. Don’t get me wrong BJ’s is cool, but I could do without the pretentious attitude.

Being Vegetarian in a strictly conservative, somewhat small town like Apple Valley can be tough. Now try being vegan– that’s right, absolutely no animal products. That’s where I found myself a few years back, when I returned home from hippie Santa Cruz, CA. I had to learn to cook non-animal entrees for myself, in a town that rarely even has tofu at the supermarket. Enter: BJ’s Natural Foods. This is a small chain of stores, one located off Hwy 18 in AV, one in Hesperia off Main St., and this one, in VV. All have a really great selection of «natural» aka organic, pesticide free, and whole foods. This location is probably the nicest of the three. They have a good selection of bulk bins, a larger freezer aisle and all kinds of dried and canned goods. Prices are high, but what can you expect– supply and demand, right?
