Not good, came out to try this place because everyone had been bragging how great it was, but from my experience I must have come to late. The food was not good and for the price not worth it. I won’t be coming back, but the scenery was nice and it was quite. Good luck I don’t see it lasting to much longer.

I flew in here for lunch and had the pastrami sandwich. Pastrami is made in house and delicious. The sandwich came well presented, including a small green salad. Good airport restaurant. They also offer catering.

We were very impressed with how good the food was. It was a great experience for my family. The food was made in house and that is a rare thing for the high desert. This place is like a hidden little gem in Apple Valley. Worth the drive for an outstanding meal.

Changing menú soon! Can’t wait to see what wonderful ideas they come up with. Still great table service! Love watching planes go in and out! Always good, never leave hungry! Shop Local!

A great little café for a nice change of pace for breakfast. It’s a bit cramped in the dining area but it’s easy to see why it would be crowded with the great food. Sitting at the bar style seat at the window is fun so you can watch planes flying in an out while enjoying gourmet style cooking. The food is far above what you would expect from a small café. Probably the best restaurant secret in Apple Valley.

When this place first opened about a year ago it was fresh and amazing. All the food was handmade by real chef that really cared but I don’t know what is going on in that place now. Its not the same cooks in the back it and the food doesn’t look or taste like it used to. Seems like after they got up and running they let all the good things slide. And don’t even get me started on what a joke it is to try to get catering from them. I’ll pass all together on this place and the pizza truck. It’s sad to go from a 5 star to a one star in less than a year.

This place has really taken a giant nose dive! We used to enjoy coming here for great food and good service. Not today! Biscuits and gravy: gravy was way too salty. One half biscuit was totally black on the bottom. How can a cook not see that! Rockstrami: pastrami was dry and not much flavor BLT: bread was stale. Root beer was served warm. Asked for ice and found we were charged .25 cents for it. Ridiculous! The server didn’t seem the least bit accommodating. They lost our business for sure. All in all it wasn’t worth the $ 30!

Really good breakfast and nice service! Eggs Benedict had a nice thick hunk of ham. The potatoes were perfectly golden brown with grilled peppers and onions. Will be back!

We do not always see eye to eye. Yes, I mean you, fellow Unilocalers. Unilocal = 4.5 stars, Me = Not even close. This is way out of the way, even for those heading to Las Vegas. Figure in an additional 15 minute drive once you exit the freeway for Apple Valley. This is a mini-airport located in the dusty desert, but still quaint in its own way. Once you have arrived, enter the tiny, tan brick terminal. You will find HOC inside. There is also some outside dining that is covered to protect you from the hot desert sun. This being our first experience, I can only base my rating on what we ordered. And I simply cannot recommend anything fried. Everything was way too greasy. We started with the KFC wings. Note: this is not any allusion to Kentucky Fried fame, it is short for Korean Fried Chicken. Like most everyone else’s these days, these are not whole wings, they are disjointed. So a «10 piece» is actually 5 whole wings. These tasted like they had been pre-cooked then cooked quickly for presentation. I know because my hyper taste buds do not allow me to enjoy chicken cooked a few days old ahead. Thankfully they were not heavily battered. We did have fun trying the different sauces, however. The spicy Asian was not that spicy, kind of a Soy/Ginger/Sesame combination, and that was my personal favorite. But I would not go out of my way to order these again. My excitement over ordering a Monte Cristo sandwich fizzled. The Monte Cristo was mostly battered bread. After assembling with a thin layer of ham, turkey and cheese(read that as very little), the sandwich was then cut into quarters, then dipped into batter. It came out looking like 4 donuts, and greasy ones at that. Quite disappointing except for the redeeming raspberry jam and a generous side of fresh fruit. And the plump onion rings battered in a beer batter were a disaster. Inedible from grease. Tried to like them but ultimately left half of them untouched. The two that ordered their signature burgers were also disappointed. They both looked beautiful, especially tall from all the fixin’s. But the meat in both cases was overcooked even though we specified med rare for both. And they did not note any special flavor from what was described as a special blend of ground beef. The Rockastrami Burger was topped with some of their house smoked pastrami. The pastrami was thinly sliced and decent. The only really happy one in our party was the one who ordered the Garden Omelet. Filled with goat cheese, spinach, mushrooms, tomato, fresh basil, she loved everything. There was a tasty cinnamon-y pancake that was a wonderful substitution for the usual sides of potatoes and toast as well. The coffee, good. Wish it was a little stronger, but good quality. Now that I know, I wish I could return to try other(non-fried) offerings, but it is unlikely I will get my better half to consent. Too far, too bad.

Heard good things about this place and wanted to try it, however, didn’t really live up to the hype for me. Really small inside and had to wait almost an hour for a table. When we finally did get one, service was pretty slow. Food was really good though and most portion sizes were good, except the side of fries was really skimpy. May try it again another time to see if wait and service time is better.

Best grilled cheese sandwich in the high desert! Cool upbeat environment, feels like it is in the middle of nowhere! Great prices for the quality food/sandwiches: six or seven bucks and they’re better than any gourmet sandwich out there! Great raspberry lemonade! I need wings were good little bit different spice on it, not sure if I like it or not! If you’re driving through the high desert, nice place to stop! You live up in the desert great place to have lunch with a friend!

Awesome food so if in the area or driving by this is definitely worth the stop!!! Found this place on Unilocal and my friend said it best. .this is a place one would not find by accident… lol Yes it is a little off the beaten path but well worth the quick side trip!!! We were headed back to San Diego from Vegas and wanted to eat a good breakfast along the way. It is a quick side step off the 15S right before Victorville and from what I understand was born out of a successful food truck called WTF… and no not a dirty word-stands for ‘where’s the fire’ — haha chef after my own heart! I had the basic two-egg breakfast with bacon, toast and country potatoes and gotta talk about the potatoes… not usually a big fan of these… but these were exceptional I am a convert! Red yellow & green peppers & onions perfectly cooked and sweet with chunky crisp potatoes… delicioso! My husband ordered their quite infamous breakfast burger…‘off the chain’ you have to see the pics to understand and my friend ordered an omelete which looked and tasted amazing! Oh and I would be a complete idiot if I didn’t talk about their biscuits and gravy-phenom!!! Loved this place and the power of the Internet and sites like Unilocal that give customers a true voice! I’m posting pics of my 2-egg breakfast, breakfast burger and parmesan garlic fries(didn’t talk about those but they were great too!) …oh and service was also exceptional!

Oh baby! We just had lunch here and it was great! They make their own pastrami, pickle the meat them selves, smoke it and then steam it for their rockstrami samich. Very good! My husband had their breakfast burger with an over medium egg, potato pancake, bacon and Angus beef patty. He said it was perfect! We also shared an order of parmesan garlic fries, they could have been better. They had a lot of parmesan but needed more salt and garlic and we’re a little greasy. Over all very good, cute atmosphere, we will be back.

Sitting at a table, looking directly out at the planes, while enjoying a meal where I could sense their heart and soul goes into their cooking… I kept thinking I should have come here sooner, but so glad I finally did! I ordered the crushed single burger combo. I could taste the fresh, high quality ingredients in every bite. I loved everything about this burger, from the crispy juiciness of the flavorful meat, to the crisp ice berg lettuce, to the toasty bun with oh-so-good Russian dressing that makes you wanna lick your fingers and plate clean! The burger was a bit small, but don’t let the size fool you, it’s packed fill of yummy goodness, that will keep you coming back for more. The fries were super fresh & flavorful. My sister ordered bacon & free range eggs. The country potatoes were seasoned & cooked perfectly. It only came with one small slice of toast, that’s our only complaint. They served a jelly on the side that tasted homemade, which I’m sure it was, because it was delicious! We were going to order the chocolate chip cookies filled with caramel, but they were sold out. We fell in love with their Temple coffee, with the first sip! Can’t wait to return! Definitely an oasis in the desert!

The Offer… This morning, I received a Facebook offer from the Hangout Café for 50% off an item. My wife and I didn’t even realize this place existed, so we thought we’d give it a try. The restaurant is off the beaten path and is located inside the Apple Valley Airport. A little hard to find, but not a problem as I don’t mind a little travel for a good bite and sometimes the best places are little hole in the wall locations. First Impressions… Walking inside, we really liked the décor and ambiance. The aroma of the food made us excited to give the Hangout Café a try. This place has a mobile wood fired pizza truck parked outside, and the smell of wood burning gave me no option but to try the pizza! We walked in and were promptly greeted by a polite server. I had mentioned that I didn’t know they were here, the place looks great, I had received a Facebook Coupon today and was excited to try them out. My personal order contained a Margherita pizza, wings and a Coke. The Food… The food took about 30 minutes to get to the table, but I know a freshly made meal can take some time, so I didn’t hold it against the establishment. Everything looked great. The wings were amazing! They may have been some of the best wings I have ever eaten. The pizza left something to be desired. There were very little, if any cheese on it, the crust was mushy, and the pizza luke warm. It kinda took me for a surprise since they have an entire cooking trailer dedicated to this pizza… I expected more. Where it all went wrong… When it came time to pay, I headed to the register and presented my phone with the email from Facebook with coupon information displayed. The coupon stated«to use the offer, visit the Hangout Café and show them this email». The cashier asked if I had printed the coupon. I did not because the email stated to «show the email». She then belittled me in front of my guests stating that«everybody knows that you need to print an online coupon»(I have personally used several coupons by presenting my phone). I then asked for a Manager to see if they can help with the situation, especially since the coupon was the reason I came in. She said she’d call the owner to see what he could do. Shortly thereafter I was told that the owner said that he’s not honoring the coupon. I felt like we had been bait and switched. Conclusion… The menu presented a nice variety of food. As I watched others patrons being served, I saw several items that I thought that I’d like to try. I had definitely planned on coming back. The wings alone would have brought me back. However, I genuinely believe in customer service. If an establishment refuses to show any care or concern for what is a valid request, or humiliates their customer; they have no place in a service industry. The Hangout Café had quickly become a place that I cannot patronize nor recommend as a principle of my standards. I calculated that the owner would have deducted $ 6 on the sale(my families bill was $ 38). $ 6 was the difference between at least one, but probably many return visits. Those visits would have netted him way more than that in the long run. Final thoughts… The most successful businesses in existence have the«customer is right approach». Look at Costco, Nordstrom, In-N-Out, and Amazon for example. Money isn’t earned on one sale alone, it is earned over the lifetime of the customer. I gave this establishment one star based on this alone — putting the dollar before the customer.

This café is delicious! I am a foodie, I know good food when I see and eat it. The atmosphere in this café is a nostalgic/vintage country style that blends well with the Apple Valley Airport it resides in. The menu has some great burgers and of course the pizza is phenomenal being the WTF(Where’s The Fire) food truck always making its rounds around the high dessert and beyond, with its brick oven-baking, delectable pie! If you’re in the High Desert go here, you will be happy and full and most of all your mouth will thank you for the deliciousness!!!

First, it took forever to get our ordet. When it did arrive my French toast were burnt, cold and the wrong kind. They took it back and said the correct ordet would be up right away. Everyone had finished eating and it had not arrived I canceled the order. They took it off the bill and gave it to me as I was leaving. That said, I wad told the potatoes were delicious and the eggs good. I was also told the Hamburgers were very good by the people I was with who had eaten there before. Don’t order the Brioche French toast
