Hey, the kids love them some soccer and I love watching so I can’t hate too much. For the most part this is a good league but they sometimes seem unorganized. We have had some games with no refs, the field is sometimes overgrown due to lack of mowing, and the draft seems confused. On the other hand they provide a safe enviroment for my kids to play soccer and for the most part everyone seems to have a good time.

Best soccer league in the area. For 25 years this league has proven it’s here to stay. With over 2,000 annually playing soccer. And numbers just grow. With another year of committed volunteers, it’s no wonder the future of soccer is secure. All my kids played and have great memories. This is such a great experience now with a new season approaching.

Really good coaches and staff. Jake and Shane Loved playing and learned way more than Santa Clarita’s league.

Played on HDYSL for all of my youth– until club soccer. It was a decent experience, an easy, cheap way to get into sports and make friends. I also refereed for several games during High School, which was a decent time, poor pay. I think it was something along the lines of $ 5 per game– but I’d suspect the compensation has gone up since 1998. All I have to say about attempting to ref any soccer game, especially youth soccer: make sure you have a strong backbone. These soccer moms can get feisty(but on a nice side, they often bring you team oranges during half time)! Okay, last of all, I worked the snack bar on site for about 4 seasons. That was a fun job, one that I only got because I was friends with the HDYSL president’s daughter. We got paid about $ 60 per day, plus tips. Not bad, for a 16 year old. Oh, and who could forget the extra perks– all the rainbow snow cones I could eat!
