What happened?! Fuji used to be a safe choice for budget friendly sushi. I returned after an at least 5 year hiatus. The sushi wasn’t good, there wasn’t much variety, and let the non sushi eater beware — the hot dishes were even worse! Left disappointed and hungry.

I have to remove 2 stars. We visited this restaurant yesterday evening for dinner, and I was very grossed out by how disgusting the restaurant was. Even the air circulating through the room felt unclean! When I went into the bathroom, it was so dirty that I questioned if I should wash my hands. It looked like they would be dirtier if I went through the process of it. Even though it looked like somebody had wiped down the sink, there was brown gunk all around the faucet that could have easily been cleaned up if somebody had bothered. The container that holds onto the towels people are supposed to use to dry their hands after they wash them is so filthy that there’s no way it could give you a clean towel. And they still haven’t fixed the lock on the bathroom door. It’s incredibly flimsy and does not look secure at all. Even though we’ve always enjoyed the sushi, I am never returning to this restaurant. I would rather go to Dongpo and purchase their sushi by the roll.

Aw Fuji what happened?! My fiancé used to come here with me about once every two weeks, it was near home, good price, and decent. Food is very basic sushi, but it tasted good and hit the spot without murdering your wallet. Hot bar was not too bad either. Some chicken, squid, lo mein, egg rolls and my personal addiction, crab rangoons. well that was then and this was now, we went in a few months ago and the place was REALLY warm… which is kind of off putting for a sushi joint, it was muggy warm. how long can uncooked fish sit in that before its no longer safe. Not sure but the sushi we got there was NOT made fresh(guessing leftovers from the night before we were in early) rice on other rolls was way over cooked and gooey, very off-putting. The floor was sticky… very inch of it, tuna was grey, and the hot bar items were congealed and had clearly been sitting there for hours without being tended too or replaced. There also comes a point where the kids are no longer adorable sitting in the dining area all the time, its distracting and disruptive. They are always there, watching cartoons or children’s shows at obnoxious volumes. I decided to give them another chance(maybe just not a great day for them) and went back a few weeks later It was worse, smelly, food was not fresh ATALL. Kids running around, I almost dropped a plate AND a bowl of soup. Floor clearly hadn’t been cleaned since the last time. They may have been a place to be a few years ago, but they have slipped. No longer worth it. I’m not going to risk my health taking a chance there again. I just felt like I was covered in a thin layer of filth when I left. Very disappointing. This used to be once of my favorite quick easy meal places.

Run! Edamame was extremely freezer burnt, kimchi was terrible, sushi was hit or miss, but for the most part not very good. For all you can eat for $ 11 I recommend spending another $ 10 somewhere good.

I am usually very nervous about where my sushi comes from, but this place had me delighted! All you can eat delicious sushi for only $ 10 was a steal and I was very impressed by how good the sushi tasted.

Great basic sushi !! A wide selection of rolls with a few inari sushi. spring rolls are fresh and crispy… I have been eating sushi all my life and this is a great place to get your fill. They make a roll at a time so its always new and fresh and there is soup, salads and hot food too. I have been coming here for years and have brought many new sushi connoisseurs. I have never been disappointed. If your looking for fancy exotic looking sushi or atmosphere, look elsewhere. If your looking for great sushi and a killer deal … HEREYOUGO !!!

If you want good sushi, keep going down the road a little farther. If you want cheap and fast, this is the place for you. Some of the sushi tasted a little like chicken. The hot food was good, but not what I went there for.

Came to Fuji sushi from 30 minutes away, the hours they posted online said they closed a bald hour later than the hours printed on the door, we arrived 20 minutes before their closing time and the doors were already locked and they were cleaning up– it is illegal in the state of Wisconsin to not be open for your posted business hours. Will definitely not be giving this place another shot since they couldn’t bother to update their website, or even take customers within their posted hours on the door. Don’t go here if you want professional service.

The interior of the restaurant is sketchy. Dirty goldfish tank in the front. Tried to find a clean table at 7:00 pm on a Thursday night and it was tough. Apparently, we ended up sitting near(I’m assuming) the owner’s kids. This ruined A LOT of the experience. They were running around yelling to each other, bouncing balls up and down the aisles, changing the channels on the TV(way too high of a volume, too. Don’t think there should be a TV in here… maybe in the back room for the kids???) I understand they are kids and easily bored but then have an area in the back for them with a tv… this is not a good idea to keep/bring in customers. If this weren’t a problem, I would have rated this almost a 5. The hot food wasn’t really stocked well which was only a problem since my husband doesn’t eat sushi and I need something to occupy his needs, too. We had to ask to stock items. The sushi, however,(with the exception of about 3 rolls that had some questionable taste) was great! Good for a sushi novice, like myself, trying to find my favorite. I wish that they had some more raw sushi to try but I was happy with what was offered for the price. They need to expand the hot bar or at least maintain it a bit better, maybe clean a little more, and find a fun and safe place for the kids so business doesn’t go downhill and this place will be just about everything I’ve wanted. I will return at a different time to give it another go but I’m not sure what to expect.

I’m not a sushi snob — I’m perfectly satisfied eating grocery store or mall food court sushi, so when I read the reviews, this place sounded right up my alley. Fuji Sushi, however served quite literally the worst sushi I’ve ever had. And for Appleton, the price really wasn’t that economical — you can buy two basic rolls at any of the ‘regular suspect’ sushi places around town for the same price. The selection is extremely limited — mostly to rolls with shredded fish, cream cheese, and/or flavored mayonnaise. The ‘tempura’ rolls were something I’ve never seen — they were typical rolls, but the entire ROLL was coated in thick batter(I’m talking outside of the rice) and fried. Turns out there was a good reason I’ve never seen it done that way before — they were absolutely dreadful. Having quickly given up on the sushi, I tried to fill up on ‘hot food’, which consisted of soggy General Tso’s and bland teriyaki chicken, so I gave up on that as well. I turned to the last resort — the typical Chinese buffet selection of desserts, and even THOSE were terrible. How can you mess up an Oreo? When it has the consistency of a sponge from having sat on the buffet for days, covered by a damp cloth. I ended up finishing my meal with a plate full of M&M’s, which were the only dessert that wasn’t horribly stale. Needless to say, we won’t be returning. At least we had a good laugh later in the day when we gave the fortune cookies to our kids, and even they(5 and 10 years old) complained that they were too stale to eat!

The place is small and very fairly priced. If you need a sishi fix but are on a budget this is the place for you. They have a large variety to choose from and keep the buffet refreshed. I have been going here for a number of years now and their sushi has never been disappointing. It isnt the same as what you get when you pay $ 15 a roll but it is absolutely is worth the price you pay. The hot food area is small but good and they have good cold sides like seaweed salad, shrimp, and fresh fruits. In addition the desserts often rotate between several homemade pies and cheesecakes that are all a great end to a delicious meal.

The interior of this restaurant is kind of run down and makes you question your decision to eat fish there. But the sushi was really good! I carried out and my selections were made fresh while I watched. They were tasty and the price was unbeatable! I would definitely go back.

not crazy about pre-made sushi in sushi bar. Also, lots of rice, not much fish in rolls, price is comparable

Needed a sushi fix, so we met a friend here for lunch. Small place but decent sushi bar. They had many of the standard selections. My favorite was the crazy hot tuna roll. Finally a spicy roll with a little kick. Something you don’t see at sushi places, homemade pecan pie. Put away the chopsticks, grab a fork and enjoy. Now I have a sushi place and the company of a friend not too far away.

I ate sushi for the first time in my life here and was pretty impressed. I have had more expensive, «better» sushi since, but given the price, this place is a BARGAIN. It is run in the buffet style, so you pay up front, then fill up on as much sushi as your heart desires. What I really like about this place is that you have the option of getting vegetarian tofu in case you’re not in the mood for raw fish. There is a small, pretty much insignificant«hot food» section, but it’s not a big deal because you come here for SUSHI! I also enjoyed a huge variety of desserts the few times I went here. I am not a hue sushi aficionado, but I will say that the fish was cool and did not smell or taste overly fishy, so that is good in my book! To sum it up, you are not going to find sushi anywhere else in Appleton for a price like this.

Unbeatable prices here! Almost every 12 piece roll is only $ 5! This is a family business. The buffet is huge and priced so good — $ 10 before 4pm, $ 11.50 after. We stop almost every time we go to the fox valley area. Very clean inside and ingredients are always fresh.

Sometimes you just want Sushi and you want it simple, fast, and fresh. In Appleton, there is Fuji Sushi. I believe it is a family run operation with two sisters making the sushi. The restaurant is nothing terribly fancy, but the sushi is what makes it great. The selection ranges from simple and no frills, to the artistic and complex. The owners play and invent their own rolls a lot of the time and have yet to find a bad one. I always go for the ala carte to go and have never been disappointed. What makes Fuji great to me was it was on my way home, I’d call in the order, and I could pick up food quickly and hit the road. Again, don’t let the meager exterior and interior fool you. The sushi is inexpensive and great quality.

I have been to Fuji Sushi many years and I think that their quality is going downhill in the past couple trips I made. The tray is often empty and they need to learn how to ‘quality-control’ their dishes. I understand that it’s a family restaurant, but I don’t understand why I would want their kids running around my dining table making noises.

This is one of our favorite family restaurants in town. Granted, I have been to places with better quality and a better variety of sushi, but I am not sure it is possible to get a better value for sushi than Fuji. Adult buffet is $ 12, kids 4 and over are $ 3.50, and under 4 are FREE. Buffet is always well stocked with several varieties of rolls such as spicy and cream cheese in shrimp, salmon and tuna. Also have veggie rolls, sweet potato rolls, tempura rolls. Sashimi Tuna and Salmon are always on the bar, as well as Nigiri Tuna, Salmon and BBQ Eel. Fish and rolls are always fresh and Eel is great. Fuji has taught our children(4 and 6) to LOVE sushi. We like it for them because they can try sushi, but the buffet also has a lot of the standard hot and cold Chinese buffet fare. We all like the fact that they also have Ice Cream for dessert, complete with sprinkles and gummi bears. Dining room is nothing fancy, but always clean. Staff is friendly as well. If you are in the mood for sushi on a budget, I would highly recommend Fuji.
