Went cherry picking for the first time and this place fulfilled the want nicely. End of July is late in the season so quite a few were over ripened but after finding the right trees there were still enough good ones for us to pick over 5lbs of sweet cherries in probably less than 20 minutes out there. Price was $ 3.50 a lb which if on sale at the grocery store you may find cheaper elsewhere, but these are some quality cherries and since your picking you can avoid all the over ripened ones that you usually get in the big bags at the store. They have a nice little store there as well selling maple syrup, honey, fresh roasted coffee… all locally made. Also they have a few contraptions to pit cherries they let you test out. The kids found one they loved, the cherry chomper, so being the savvy shopper my wife double checked the price on Amazon and they were cheaper in the store, so we picked on up. Pack this in with a couple other stops in the area and you can have yourself a nice day trip on the shores of lake Ontario easily.

I love coming here to pick cherries. The first time I heard about this farm was at the North Tonawanda farmers market on Payne and Robinson. I’ve made yearly trips out to Singer. There are about 6 different kinds of cherry trees and many rows of trees. You can sample the cherries at the entrance and a farm employee will tell you which rows to find the cherries you like.

If you miss the apple or cherry picking season, no worry… Singer Farms have 60 – 80 organic garlic varieties to choose from. Every garlic has its own character, some are more fragrant, some are sweeter, and some are more complex. This is the first time that I really want to enjoy garlic uncooked, in its raw state. The staffs at the farm recommended adding garlic at the end of the cooking process, right before serving. This will help to get all the wonderful flavors and health benefits of the garlic. We bought music, slovenian, chinese purple, and hnat. All of them are sweet and beautiful… with aroma, flavor and finish lingers in the mouth after the spicy punch. One of the greatest things of all, …Singer Farms garlic are super easy to peel. Wish they also sell organic olive oil and balsamic vinegar… it will be perfect Tips: while you are in Appleton, you can stop by couple of interesting places nearby: — The Olcott Beach Carousel Park to check out an antique band organ(still fully operable) — The Lockport Locks and Erie Canal at Lockport

U Pick Cherries in July. Singer Farms has the largest orchard of dwarf sweet cherry trees in the eastern United States. In the month of July, you can pick large sweet cherries without using a ladder! No pesticides for those who care about that stuff. $ 3.75/lb — get 10+ lbs price is $ 3.00 Yes it is more expensive than Tops or Wegmans but they are better quality IMO. Take a ride out to the country, grab some Beyes Popcorn, do a wine sample, and pick some cherries.
