Nice enough place, food is just fine. Friendly staff. We got here at 1:30 and the buffet looked pretty rough… my buddy said it tasted like it was probably awesome two hours ago :) I ordered off the menu. Massamun curry, not bad, not great… no huge issues but I can’t say I recommend the place

Amazing food and very great staff. Love their soups!!! Always fast service and a quiet nice atmosphere for the entire family. Plan on bringing home leftovers because the servings are HUGE!

I don’t remember the name of the dish that I had, but I think it was pud moo, number 71 on the menu and it was a great meal. The waiter was very friendly, attentive and personable. Quite possibly the best Thai food east of California… yumm. oh, and the heat index is only one to five. I suggest a 3 for your first time. As a side note, I have a severe seafood allergy and when I told the waiter, he immediately told the cook, who accommodated my needs. I will be going back again.

Went out to try this place for the first time. The food was good and had a huge portion. Our waitstaff was very kind in allowing us to try different peanut sauces. I would recommend this place to anyone going for a night out.

Best Thai restaurant in the valley. No one even close. You can have the heat wherever you like it and they cook the spices in as the cook it, not just pour some pepper on top. Volcano chicken, pud prig sod and many others are excellent Thai dinners. Highly recommend the restaurant.

The chicken Penang, lettuce wraps, and crab Rangoon are great, but overall the place seems a bit unclean and could use a facelift.

Update: Although I continue to enjoy this place My partner no longer does. Of the past two visits he made he feel ill, cross-contaminated. He is always clear on his requirements(He has Celiacs sprue it is a disease, any gluten he ingests makes him seriously ill). He cannot afford to take chances. I can no longer recommend this establishment to those seeking gluten free dining. 4.0 star rating 4÷17÷2013 One of our favorite places, my partner(who has Celiacs sprue) eats lunch here regularly.(Celiacs sprue is a disease, any gluten he ingests makes him seriously ill.) He has never had issue with the food here. The place is a bit worn but seems to be a Lawrence faculty favorite. When we are not sure where we want to go, this is our failsafe. We tend to order the same favorite dish. He is vegetarian and the options are numerous. Staff is always friendly and sees to our every need. Food quality is fresh, consistent and delicious.

I love Taste of Thai, it’s one of the best restaurants in the Appleton area. The Volcano Chicken is my favorite, the fresh spring rolls are awesome. We’ve always had good service, highly recommended!

Love, love, love this place. Nam tok and nam sod are to die for. Tom ka is tops. Salad rolls best in valley if not best this side of Chicago/Milwaukee. Brilliant and talented cooks/owners. One of the most underrated around. Prices are in line with the portions

I’ve always been wary of any Thai food in restaurants when it comes to taste and this place lands a spot on my list of restaurant disappointments once again when it comes to authenticiy in the flavors of the dishes. I have yet to find a Thai restaurant that stays true to it’s authentic nature rather than have the dishes be made with a «western twist». Other than that I give props to the beef LARB. It’s the only menu item that I will only ever get. What’s nice is the staff will give you the choice of making the appetizer raw(beef ceviche pretty much). It’s an item made true to its nature by presentation. Though it does lack some flavors it’s not something that can’t be fixed by adding my own fish sauce into the dish when I take it home.

This place is the #1 sit-down restaurant for Lawrence students because it’s so close, it’s practically on-campus. You will find students here frequently, especially when the commons is closed down for a convocation or when students are celebrating someone’s birthday. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten here without seeing someone I know, whether it was a fellow student or a professor. As a vegetarian, I have been pleased with the options here. Usually I play it safe with a pad thai or veggie fried rice, which don’t make my taste buds burst with flavor, but it’s respectable. Part of me feels like I could make some of these dishes myself and for a fraction of the price. The favorite thing I’ve had here is probably the green curry. Yum! I’m not a big fan of how they cook and season their tofu, though. The lunch buffet is pretty decent. It’s a good value even though there are usually only like four options for what to eat. Taste of Thai is a place to come to hang out or catch up with friends. You don’t necessarily pay super close attention to what is going into your mouth. It’s pretty solid and I will come back, for sure. I’m really torn between three and four stars here. This is better than my other three-star reviews and the service has always been really great(especially in dividing up the checks per person), so I’m going with a tentative four. Note: If you’re expecting to eat here with a big group, I advise you call ahead. That way, they’ll have a table ready for everyone(which sometimes involves pushing two smaller tables together). Also, it’s awesome that you can request(on a scale) of how spicy you want your food to be and they will accommodate. I always pick«0,» for what it’s worth.

The food here is tasty and reasonable. Personal favorite is the Pud Prig King(chicken in a spicy peanut sauce with fresh green beans). Have never had a bad meal here in many trips and would recommend to anyone who likes spicy food!

The more Thai restaurants I try, the more I realize that Taste of Thai is the real deal flavor-wise. Give it a shot. The lunch buffet isn’t the most extensive thing ever, but what they put out is pretty solid. Also remember that you can still order off of the regular menu at lunchtime. Great vegetarian choices.

Nice ambiance. Décor was neat. Reasonable prices. Plenty of vegetarian options. Vegetable Pud Thai was pretty good, but over-sauced. Noodles on the side would have been a good option. Level 4 spice was pretty spicy… and good! Sweet and sour vegetables were good. Chicken fried rice went over well with meat eater. Good service. Special sauce was a mystery. No fortune cookies though. Seriously?

I went here for lunch and had the buffet. I wouldn’t recommend it. Their buffet consisted of, I think 5 items, plus spring rolls and sesame chicken, plus white rice. Nothing on the buffet looked very appetizing, and nothing I tasted was very good. I mostly ended up eating the white rice and the sesame chicken. I also had a big bowl of chicken noodle soup, although I was a little surprised that it was on the lunch buffet to begin with. I don’t think I’d go back.

I tried the Tom Yum Goong and pad Thai with chicken. The soup was pretty good, they used straw mushrooms and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The soup lacked the depth of flavor that I love so much about it, and it was a little vinegary to me(maybe a little heavy on the lime). The pad thai was was also pretty good, at least it wasn’t some odd peanut sauce I’ve had elsewhere. I asked for medium spicy on both dishes and it was fine. The pad thai portion was huge, definitely can be family style if you have a group which is nice.

this place is awesome and is by far the best deal for an ethnic lunch in Appleton, easily. They have a lunch buffet but I choose to go another route: They also have a lunch menu and you can chose from a number of entrees(hearty portion, indeed), all for $ 6.95, PLUS it comes with all you can eat appetizers and soup from the buffet. So for seven bucks(before tax/tip) you can get your grub on. as for the food itself, it is all great. if the curry puffs are on buffet when you are in there… it’s your lucky day. their pad thai is awesome as is their Red Khang Curry, my meals of choice.

Had a great dinner on a Friday night — no reservations needed. Started with fresh salad rolls(would try a different appetizer next time). Had chicken pud ped and volcano shrimp as entrees. Flavor on pud ped was great. Would definitely eat here again.

The best Thai food in the area. My wife and I have gone on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed. The Green Curry is delicious and the Pad Se Ew is scrumptious. I would even recommend their Thai Chicken, in fact, you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The price is very reasonable and the service is very nice and helpful.
