Be prepared for food prices aligned with that of Panera Bread. The dining experience can initially be a little overwhelming to someone who has never been to this restaurant before. There are so many options for sandwiches, and a couple options for soup, but the staff is more than willing to talk with you about those options. My only complaint here is that if you are in a hurry looking for a quick hearty lunch, you might wait in line longer than expected. I had a bacon n bleu grilled cheese that was exactly what it is described as, plus mozzarella cheese. When I order a grilled cheese, I expect to have that pull of the melted cheese… this didn’t have that. Much of my crumbled bacon fell out of the sandwich, but it had good flavor overall. I also got a bowl of the creamy tomato basil soup. The soup was served at a reasonable temperature, but the texture and flavor were misleading. This soup needed some basic elements like salt and pepper. I fully understand everyone has different tolerances, but as someone who has cooked for 15 years, I expected a better balance. It was also not«creamy» by many definitions; it had more of a rough texture, but not chunky. I was a little surprised by the cost(nearly $ 14 for a bowl of soup, sandwich and a soda) and hope that my increased food cost was due to fresh made ingredients that were locally sourced… but I feel it is actually a representation of the lack of direct competition. I may return in the future, but will not seek out these chains.

Awesome place. Great service. The owner came out and talked with us which made us feel welcome. The food was good and came out quickly. Clean restaurant, very clean restrooms. We tried a variety of things on the menu and our kids were as happy as we were. Highly recommend.

A fun restaurant with a menu different than most. You can order a grilled cheese with many different toppings(cheeses, meats, etc). They also have several suggested gourmet combinations. You can make your meal a combo with chips or soup and a fountain soda. There is a kids menu that includes grilled cheese or macaroni and cheese. There is also a dessert menu that includes dessert grilled cheese made with donuts. It’s what made Tom + Chee famous. My only complaint is the cost for a grilled cheese. Definitely paying for the experience.

First off, for the people who whine that they could make it at home-no kidding, it’s grilled cheese, and no matter what you put on it, it’s still just going to be a grilled cheese. The same could be said about hamburgers or just about any other sandwich. Next off, to those that whine about the price-really…give me a break. My combo meal was more expensive than McD’s or Burger King, but also the products were much fresher and of better quality. Sorry, but $ 6.50 is not a bad price to pay for a sandwich with ham, pepperoni and good quality cheese on good(not great) quality bread. Now for my actual review of the food. I was there with my wife and daughter so we tried a variety of things. I thought all the sandwiches were really good-good quality cheese, good quality bread and decent quality toppings. I do agree with some of the reviews about the soup. It was just a little too thick, a little too overpowering, and a little too… something…all which made it seem like it was canned. It wasn’t great to eat as soup but it did make for tasty dipping for the sandwich. For dessert the 3 of us split one of the dount grilled cheeses-the Strawberry Lemonade. Overall I wasn’t overly impressed with this. It was kind of small and the melted mozzarella didn’t seem to add to the sandwich much, but the flavor of the lemon mascarpone was great as was the addition of the candied lemon. I imagine that I’ll try another at some point, but it is definitely more a novelty item than a «high quality» item. Service was great, with everyone there smiling and being very helpful without overdoing. And the place was clean and neat. I don’t imagine it’s a place I’d head to by myself, but with the kid in tow, it definitely beats out most the chain fast food places.

Had the Swiss and Shroom, Tomato Soup, and The King donut grilled cheese. All items were delicious, especially the donut sandwich. However, the prices are STEEP. 4 stars for the food and service, 2 – 3 stars for value.

Definitely not great! I came here for lunch midweek. I ordered blt grilled cheese, classic tomato soup, and a s’mores grilled cheese donut for dessert. The bacon was like a small step up from BacO’s. Besides that it was.basic. Nothing special. The soup tasted exactly like canned tomato sauce. Same consistency and everything. I was so excited for the soup, and it was so very disappointing. The S’mores GC donut was ok. I was anticipating a different donut type(more like a krispy kreme) and it was a ‘cake donut’ so it took me a minute to get over what I expected it to taste like, to what it actually tasted like. It was rather dry, but i’m glad I tried it. It’s a fun concept just not executed as well as I had hoped. I do have to say, while I did not enjoy my experience. The employees were so upbeat, and pleasant. The cashier even complimented my necklace. And the place was super clean. So it has that going for it.

The food was not that good the sandwiches were something you could make yourself and the soup was bitter, we tried a grilled cheese donut and it was not worth getting. The prices were ridiculous for what your getting. I do not recommend it and we will not be going back

Three star rating is only because of the price. The base sandwich price is a decent price, but the add ons(drink, soup, and even $ 0.25 for water) double or more the cost of a meal. Food is excellent and fills that craving that all people who love a decent grilled cheese sandwich will appreciate. I had the Tom + Chee combo with a cup of creamy tomato basil soup. I enjoyed the meal tremendously and will definitely be returning to try more of the options on the menu. I really wish I could make a grilled cheese with the bread cooking skills these fellas have. Service was quick, but admittedly, I was there before the lunch hour rush. It did appear that the kitchen and staff was set up to allow for a large rush. Meal was delivered roughly three minutes after order so that helped. I would recommend that everyone tries this place and keep in mind the warning on the extras.

Would like to go back again, but I can’t afford to. It was a good sandwich and soup combo but for two people to eat there it cost us just under $ 30.00. I am really glad I gave it a try because now I can go the grocery and spend $ 4 and feed the entire family!

We were heading up north this past weekend to the lake and stopped in Appleton. We saw Tom Chee and remembered it from the Travel Channel so we had to try it. I ordered the turkey pesto grilled cheese and the others with me ordered the crunchy or crispy chicken grilled cheese and we had one vegetarian with us who ordered the hippy chee. Everyone thought their sandwiches were great and I can especially speak for the Turkey pesto and caprese salad which i highly recommend. If you are health conscious or love salads definitely get the caprese salad with balsamic vinaigrette. This is our new stop in Appleton and agree it is much better and healthier than the other fast food restaurants off the highway

Excited to see this open because I saw it on Shark Tank! The place was clean, bright, interesting, yet the menu was a bit overwhelming. The young man working was very helpful however. He walked me through the menu and even offered free soup trials. Nice! I wanted to try more than one of the sandwiches so I decided to get 2 of them to go. That way I could split them and save the other half’s for tomorrow. I also ordered a bowl of tomato soup to dip my sandwiches in like I used to when I was a kid! Everything was made fresh and quickly. The person who took my order even brought it out yo my table when it was done. I did like the Ham and Cheese sandwich much better than the Mac and Cheese. Both were made perfectly. Nice crunch to the bread, just enough butter to make it tasty, but for my tastebuds, the Mac and Cheese sandwich had just too much of the same flavor and the noddles just seemed weird to be on a sandwich. The tomato soup was kind of a let down. Really reminded me of something I would put on my pasta, not something I would dip my sandwich in! Bottom line, things were good, but not remarkable. Sadly, this business might do better if it were in a food truck parked downtown or at one of the weekend events. In its current location it will have a lot of competition and for toasted sandwiches and spaghetti sauce soup it was a little pricy.

Grilled cheese the same that I can make at home. Tomato soup tasted a lot like spaghetti sauce. They charge 25 cents for a cup of water. The day that I was there it was very loud with kids running around. Had to wait in line 15 minutes because the owner said they had a big order they had to fill first.

Tom + Chee is a welcome addition to Appleton! We went there for the first time last week and we all loved it! Three generations and every plate was empty! We each had a grilled cheese sandwich: kids cheddar cheese, the Tom + Chee, the Turkey Pesto Grilled Cheese, and a Build your Own with Cheddar and tomatoes. We tried the chunky tomato basil soup and the creamy tomato basil soup, and had a side of their macaroni and cheese. I highly recommend the Tom + Chee. The location is perfect, right in the plaza next to Kohl’s in Darboy. The staff was very friendly and helpful and they were attentive. We will be back!!!

Great experience here today with something for everyone. Hubby loved the«Armagoetta»(he said very spicy with excellent flavor), lactose intolerant son enjoyed vegan cheese with ham, and vegan mom loved the«Hippy Chee» with hummus, cucumbers and substituted vegan cheese. Even the tomato soups are vegan-friendly and yummy for all. We’ll be back.
