We made an appointment to move our grandfather clock from a home we are selling to our new home. Lew never showed up that morning — and never called to explain that something had happened. We even called and left several voicemail messages. We do not recommend this service. We understand that sometimes appointments cannot be kept — but there is no excuse for not at least calling — or even sending an email or text message — to explain the problem and then re-​scheduling.

In the Trout Gulch Crossing shopping center in Aptos, between Jet Set Bohemian and Norma Jean’s Coffee is Antique Clocks of Santa Cruz. My very non-​antique wall clock met with an unfortunate accident involving a wildly gesturing friend knocking the second hand off of the clock. I called ahead to find out if they could do inexpensive repairs while U wait, as I had previously had the clock mechanism on this clock repaired at Hour Place in Capitola a few years back, and it was inexpensive and a quick repair. Hour Place doesn’t seem to be there anymore. I was told by a friendly voice on the phone that in all likelihood my problem could be solved. The place was easy to find. It is filled with antique clocks of all shapes and sizes. I think that this would be the place to go if you were in the market for an antique clock, as they have a huge selection.
I was promptly greeted by two friendly men and explained my clock’s problem. They took in into the back, and about one minute later, returned with a fully functioning second hand on my clock. They said that it only needed a small adjustment. It was a minimal charge, which I was happy to pay.
The service was friendly, effective, and inexpensive. I would definitely recommend Antique Clocks of Santa Cruz for clock repairs, especially antique clock repairs, or if you are in the market to purchase an antique clock.
