Husband and I came off the water, hungry from fishing and decided to try the Bakery Café. We like our cheeseburgers but we have a real problem with their menu and sign. If you have BAKERY in your name, you might want to have FRESH baked goods, not STORE bought. I didn’t come to a Bakery Café to eat a frozen slice of pie warmed up in the microwave! The ONLY homemade cake was the carrot cake, and guess what? There was no carrot cake. Another thing is GETRIDOFTHEFROZENSTOREBOUGHTHAMBURGERPATTIES, and have only homemade hamburgers. Your customers will thank you for it. This will help you simplify your menu. Because let me tell you, if I had not asked the difference and had not known the others were frozen and had bought one of those– this would have been a 1, not a 3! I did like my homemade burger, but I will be careful about WHAT I order. If I wanted frozen, I could have gone to McD’s.

Walked in and was told to sit anywhere. Sat down and waited. Two other couples walk in and were waited on immediately as we continued to wait. Ended up walking out.

Breakfast is amazing! Mexican dinner is so good! Ranch dressing and crisp side salads are awesome. Chips abs salsa are on point. Want something scrumptious? Then go at lunch Thursdays for turkey absw dressing but they sell out quickly. My 9yr old loves their split pea soup if you want a comfort food.

The salad was very crisp and dressing was automatically on the side. The 2 piece fish special was good for the price. Baked potato was just right. The vegetables of broccoli and cauliflower was boiled and over cooked though. The bakery part of the name appears to be a misnomer.

Our annual go home breakfast. Not your typical great spoon. They cook from scratch and the food is amazing for the price. There is zero décor other than some cool pictures of the main street over 100 years old.

Service was friendly and efficient. Even though our waitress was new she was super friendly and pleasant. Tried the beef enchilada plate at the recommendation of our waitress. I was skeptical, but they were awesome. We’ll be back next time we roll thru town.

Great and friendly service. We received our food very quickly. This is your typical local greasy spoon. They stop serving breakfast at 11 am. We got there just in time to order the ham and cheese omelet special and pancakes with eggs over medium. Pancakes were delicious and eggs were cooked perfectly, which is something we don’t usually encounter. I recommend ordering biscuits with your breakfast. They are delicious! Omelet left much to be desired. Be prepared to eat because this omelet is HUGE– made with 4 or 5 eggs. Eggs were overcooked and bland. My mother bit into a couple of egg shells. The grits were nominal, nothing to write home about. The place could use a bit cleaning up but our booth, save the mirror, was clean.

Horrible service. went in on Sunday 5th of July for breakfast at 11:11 am. They had the breakfast menus still on the tables. Heard that is served good breakfast… the waitress rudely took the menus from our table and said breakfast was over… that they were backed up. sounds like a management, issue. won’t ever go back… we left. Rolando you need to figure out how to run a restaurant !!!

I’ve visited this place every time I come up here to fish, NEVER had a problem, food has always been good, service always been good, owners are awesome! However this Sunday pass 06÷28÷15 we had the worst experience ever! the café did not have enough food on hand, they had a party of fifty in the back room, we ordered and waited 45 minutes to be told there was no more biscuits, no bacon, the two tables around us had waited longer, when our food finally came, we did not have silverware, the waitress staff was in the back rolling so we waited another 10 minutes, Like I said, this place is 98.9% on time, I think next time inform the customers before you take the order! give us a chance to decide to sit and wait or go elsewhere! YES I will be back!

Mixed feelings — friendly waiters, good service, food’s good when you get it… eggs and bacon are cooked perfectly, biscuits were good… can’t give ‘em 5 stars because of the following… 3 different trips in a row, they were OUT of something… first time -” out of milk” for the kiddos.(.there are Stores in the neighborhood!) second time — «out of waffles».“waffle maker not working”… we took company specifically for the waffles… no backup waffle maker??? They’re cheap. third time — «sorry, no breakfast»…we were seated in time for breakfast but by the time they took our order, they were«out of breakfast» Overall…food and service are great. being«out» seems to be an organizational /planning/management issue. Get there by 10:00 if you want breakfast! WEWILLGOBACK.

I went to the Bakery Café in ROCKPORT, and I will never go back. This used to be Ken’s Diner. I love the one in Aransas Pass, but I will never go back to the one in Rockport. The appetizer came out after my meal was brought out, the appetizer is suppose to come out before the meal. I told the waitress that I did not want the appetizer, she got upset with me. Then I was over charged for my meal, it was over charged by $ 0.50 but it was still an over charged. She got upset that I pointed that out. I did not tip this waitress and then she really got upset with me, but I am sorry she did not deserve a tip. Yes I understand that waitresses only make a little, but she was very rude. When I was getting ready to leave, this waitress had the nerve to ask me if I was going to tip her – I told her I don’t think so.

Who can resist a good ol’ fashioned diner? We came across from the island in search of «stick to your ribs» comfort food on a particularly cold and dreary day. Bakery Café did not disappoint. We arrived during the lunch rush on a busy weekday, and as it was our first visit, we took the first available table we saw as the dining room was packed full. We sat in a booth close to the door, which I would later come to regret, as every time people came in we were blasted with cold. No fault of the café, of course, and I discovered two more dining rooms when I went to the restroom. Tip for next visit! Our server, Meredith, was prompt and delightfully happy to do her job – a dying quality in servers anymore and one that is much appreciated! I had one of the specials, beef cutlet, and my boyfriend had a bowl of chili. He was worried it wouldn’t be enough for a meal in itself, but it was plenty, and he can put away some food. I had a view of the door to the kitchen and through the window saw«Chef Mike,» which is a bit of a turnoff at first, but the only thing I saw microwaved were rolls. The menu offers a large selection and prices are very reasonable. Will definitely be back!

I am a breakfast person and the Bakery is the best area place to go for simple, old-fashioned breakfast of eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc. Although it is 13 miles from our place in Rockport, it was worth the trip for me(wife is not a traditional breakfast fan). We make up excuses to go to Lowe’s in AP around lunchtime just to have lunch at the Bakery. We usually have hamburgers(make sure to ask for the«homemade» burger) as good as any we have had. I have had the catfish and other dishes — not the best ever but very good — and my wife loves the chicken fried steak with white gravy there above all others she has eaten(and that item is her test of a restaurant worth a second visit).
