Un-ethical. This dentist does shoddy work and it not honest. Want a couple examples? I always paid cash as I did not have dental insurance. One day, my bill arrives and there is an EXTRA $ 50.00. I called the office and his wife answers the phone. She says they are no longer giving«cash customers» the $ 50.00 discount. I asked why? She said, they bill an «extra» $ 50.00 to the people that have insurance(since insurance never questions it) and they decided to charge the cash paying people the $ 50.00 too. Huh? Is this what I get for 16 years of loyalty to a dentist practice? Allow me to continue. My 93 year old neighbor goes to the same dentist. I told her of my negative experience with Dr. Segura and you know what she told me? Dr. Segura said to her, «why don’t you get cosmetic caps put on your teeth?» She chuckled and replied to the Dr. Segura, «assuming I would survive that invasive, multi-day surgery, do you really think I need that at 93 years old Dr. Segura»? This doctor does work that does not need to be done. If you ask him, «gee, Dr. Segura does that tooth(old filling) really need to be replaced?» He will say, «One day it will fall out because after a period of time all fillings do. Better do it now than later right?» Fillings RARELY fall out. And finally… Dr. Segura would tell me on my regular visits, «hey, you should have xyz tooth fixed because of blah blah blah.» I started thinking he was just after money. So every time he would recommend something and after he pressured me to get it doen THATDAY, I would say, «let’s wait till next time.» When next time came, he never mentioned the«problem tooth /problem area» that he so desparately wanted to fix on my last visit. My advice: go to this guy but if he wants to do anything besides routine xrays and check up, go to a different dentist for a second opinion before putting yourself through all that un-necessary pain and money spending. This guy is Mormon and I like Mormons but Dr. Segura seems very un-ethical. Especially when he tells my 93 year old neighbor to get caps on her teeth. STAYAWAY!

I was so worried about finding a new dentist that I actually continued to fly home to Chicago to see my old one. Obviously, this got to be a bit tiresome. With hesitation I sent to see Dr. Segura by recommendation of a friend. His staff is extremely friendly, gentle and very kind. I immediately got a good vibe meeting every one of them. Their office always runs on time and I’m in and out quickly. The only bad part about going there well, it’s the dentist.

I’ve been seeing Tom Segura since 2000, and have been delighted with him. He’s put three or four crowns in, and he and his staff have been unfailingly efficient and friendly. Hey, he finally got me to start using an electric toothbrush after years of resistance! Dr. Segura is excellent at allaying the fears of those who hate needles, and he’s remarkably timely — unlike so many dentists, an 11:00AM appt. actually ends up being an 11:00 appt. His magazine selection, however, is hopeless. «Parents» and«Car and Driver» are the best of the lot.
