I hate to be the bearer of bad news, especially because I think this is the only Vietnamese restaurant in Arcata, but this place is terrible. We ate here on a Saturday night, the place was nearly empty, and many of the dishes we ordered never arrived. Not even special dishes, but things like rice. The dishes that did arrive were sad and bland. Some of my rice noodles weren’t even cooked. Not sure if this was an aberration or if something has changed recently.

Service was okay. I ordered their vegetarian noodle soup. It came relatively quickly. The soup is flavorful and savory, and it came with a good portion of vegetables(not including the small side of bean sprouts), although too many carrots for my taste.

The food was not good at all. Nothing tasted fresh. I can’t wait to go home to Southern California and have fresh good food. The bathroom was gross. It was not a good experience,

Wow. The waiter proceeded to put down my date right in front of me when she asked a few questions about the food. This is not the first time Ive had issues with service here.

This place is really good, I really like the atmosphere in the restaurant for lunch/dinner and good for take out too. Pretty sure it’s the only place in Arcata that has boba too.

They were extremely slow at getting our order we were basically ignored for over 15 minutes. Just as we were about to leave they came to take out order. They got mad at my friend when she was ordering just because she wanted to talk add bubble to her milk tea. They did not expedite the food at the same time I got mine and she got hers about 10 minutes later. They never asked how we were doing with our meals they never refilled out waters. We had to go up to register to ask for box’s because they were ignoring us still. Terrible service. Never coming here again.

To start with we love phở Hong. Me and my girlfriend eat here about 2 or 3 times a month. One of the best places to eat in town. Spring roles are killer, the phở is great, the curry is the best. The family that own phở Hong are nice and friendly. If we could we would give 100 stars!!! Much better then Japhy’s and it just down the street!!!

This place has quick service and the food is consistently tasty. My favorites are the spring rolls, coconut shrimp, papaya salad, and vegetable phở. It has lots of options for vegans and gluten free customers. You can ask your server for vegetarian dressing for your salad(no fish sauce). If your looking for a quick healthy meal in arcata this is the place. And the owners are also really nice people which is a plus.

I have been meaning to write a review!!! So yummy :) Delicious! From Orange County, so I am SPOILED when it comes to phở, and I have to enjoy phở at least once per week… I will say that sometimes this joint is out of basil or onions but it’s no biggie because their broth is savory and delicious. I’ve brought my family here and have ordered out so many times for my friends visiting from home and for my family from the East Coast and each person has loved it. Their noodle dishes are great too… also I especially adore their chili spicy chicken wings(when they have them!!!) I’ve been bummed when they have run out before. Delish, I am happy with this place since there really aren’t any great Vietnamese joints in Arcata, and when I move back to OC I will fondly remember this spot.

I think this place is great! The people who work here are sweet, very humble, hospitable, and they serve very tasty food! I love novelty and often try food that sounds like something I haven’t had before but I am so in love with the vegetable coconut curry that I cannot help myself from ordering it every time I eat there. They are quick to deliver and understanding when you let them know you have a time crunch for work lunch break. Great food!

This place has really good food. I’ve had the spring rolls which are fresh with mint and a yummy sweet peanut dipping sauce. It is within a block of an AMRTS bus stop and a few blocks uphill from the RTS bus stop. I only wish they didn’t use Styrofoam takeout containers. As far as I know this is the only phở/Vietnamese place in Arcata, so it is a very nice addition to the restaurant options here. This place is nice for a date or with friends. They do close sometimes for holiday breaks, so if it’s holiday time, you may want to call ahead to make sure they are open. I think last summer they were gone for like a month or so.

I don’t think people understand my obsession with spring rolls. This place hands down has the best spring rolls ever! The manager knows me as the spring roll girl and he will know exactly who this is when he reads it.(HI!) They are fresh, mouth watering and soul satisfying. The portions and peanut sauce is on point. I am a spring roll connoisseur and I approve of these spring rolls. I also enjoy the vegetable phở noodle soup. Excellent on a rainy day in Arcata.

They are always sold out of bubble tea. Who does the ordering here? Customer service is pushy! Let me look at the damn menu! The quality of the phở has gone down considerably over the last couple of years. –lack of noodles –lack of meat –lack of vegetables –bland broth What the phở!!!

I have been coming here quite often ever since Spring of 2014. Their chicken fried rice is delicious, especially with the hot sauce. The mango smoothie with boba is good and their coconut shrimp is very sweet and savory. I called a few days in advance to make a reservation for October 1 and the staff did an exceptional job in customer service and making sure they took good care of a group of 30. I give them props for keeping their cool in getting all the food at a timely manner. I can’t thank them enough for taking good care of my friends and providing us with exceptional customer service. Thank you, you are all the best.

Thank goodness, I have found my Vietnamese spot! Had the veggie phở and it was perfection. Everything was fresh and the broth so good. This is a busy place and when the demand is high, the quality is good. I’m not sure you need to make a reservation but it can fill up fast so you may have to wait but people are in and out quickly. If you want to splurge, get the Thai Ice Tea — big glass of it!

Friendly, quick service, delicious food — what more could you want? I was hesitant to try phở, as I am with most new food. But my friend talked me into it and I’m so glad he did. The first thing I got was the V5: egg noodle plate with tofu and mixed veggies. Not really knowing what I was doing, I ordered the noodles crispy. I couldn’t recommend that more. It’s a bit tricky to eat but the crunch is so worth it. The tofu is cooked perfectly: crispy on the outside, well-seasoned, and tender on the inside. And the Thai tea is amazing. The food comes out within minutes. I don’t know how they do it, but it’s always hot and fresh and consistently good. I’ve never waited for a table and the servers are always attentive but don’t hover. Honestly I don’t know why somebody wouldn’t like this place. Tip: Instead of waiting for the check, just go up to the register. It’s faster and they don’t mind a bit.

It was fine. I didn’t think it was bad or anything but I have been to much better Vietnamese restaurants. I think the only way to describe it is that the yellow curry, chicken vermicelli, and lemongrass chicken spring rolls didn’t have enough flavor for my liking. Staff was friendly, attentive and quick. Prices were comparable to the quality of the food. Nice décor, welcoming feel. And looked very clean.

I have given Phở Hoang a few more tries and I changed my mind. My most recent experience has especially lifted my spirits! I came for lunch with my boyfriend and really enjoyed dining here. We were seated quickly, and our waters came right away. Our waiter was friendly, not too talkative, and didn’t come to the table too little or too often. It was just right. We got the vegetarian spring rolls, which are basically the highlight of the entire menu. It comes with a small bowl of their perfect peanut sauce. I can’t get enough of that stuff. They came out within five minutes of ordering, so I just figure they have them pre-made in the back. The veggies inside tasted fresh. I also ordered the Vegetarian Phở, which was pretty good. I wish there was more tofu inside. The broth was savory and the veggies tasted fresh as well. I didn’t feel rushed this time at all, it was wonderful. They packed my leftover phở into a reusable tupperware-like container and I heated the rest up for lunch the next day. I will come back!
