Biggest super burritos in town. We come and get our food to go. We love their food, and it’s quick to go food. Clean restaurant. Perfect for students. The prices are good.

What can I say, I keep going back because they are the best in Humboldt. The service can be spotty but is usually good and they are always tweaking the price and menu, but the food keeps me coming back. The beans and rice are the best around, Also love the carnitias and carne asada. The new fish tacos are also excellent. The beers are very reasonable for a restaurant as well. If the authentic Mexican food is what your looking for this is the place, not as good as Socal but the best in Humboldt.

0 Stars not an option? If it were Ricos would get it. The food is bland and the service was horrible. Which is expected when the girl taking your order has to clean up plates and answer the phone midway though your order. Food was expensive, and it seemed like the quality was really poor. I had a breakfast burrito there one day and it seemed like the potatoes were microwaved and reused from the days previous. Plus, what is up with all those cameras? Was I on Big Brother or what? Closed on Sundays too? That is not good for those hungry people wanting to eat out on Sunday Funday. I guess I am getting my bland Humboldt County Mexican food elsewhere…

Over priced bad food. Steer clear. I had to throw my food out as the burrito disintegrated into a sloppy pile of goop.

I’ve been going here since I was about 7 and it’s still my favorite! They know me when I walk in and always have my order ready within minutes. Their hot salsa is the best but you have to ask for it(I highly recommend you do, it’s got a great chili taste). The prices may have gone up over the years but it’s well worth it, especially if you want a perfect chile relleno.

I can honestly say this is terrible Mexican food. Don’t waste your money, the carne Asada tacos are a mystery meat, yuck! I know Mexican food, as I am Mexican and grew up with it.

Had a great meal last Saturday we went. Excellent flavors in my veggie tacos which are really simple –rice beans cheese cilantro and then a squeeze of lime juice really makes the flavors pop out –I think they have a new cook? My husband raved about his steak fajitas also. Don’t know why someone said«tiny bit of food«as there was a huge amount and he had to get a box to take home. Yummy cabbage salsa ! My only complaint is the same as with ALL the Mexican restaurants around here –why can none of them get some decent wine ?? We have so many local wineries with some cheaper selections available –why can’t they serve some?

Had the chicken tostada and beef chimichanga. Both were delicious. Husband actually ate entire chimichanga which is large enough for three people. Tostada was a great portion. Fresh ingredients. Didn’t dig their cabbage salsa but liked the red salsa. They could use a salsa bar. I felt the a la carte items were way over priced but oddly enough their combo plates were reasonable. Super attentive and friendly service. For sure recommend.

Nobody really goes here. It’s usually empty and closed on Sundays. They give you chips and salsa with every order, which is nice. However, they don’t use gloves when handling the chips. I witnessed the woman at the register counting cash, then wiped her hands on her apron, shoved her hands into all of the chips, and put them into the basket. PLEASEUSEGLOVESIFYOUARENOTGOINGTOWASHYOURHANDS, especially if you’re handling money at the register. I ordered a fish burrito and my friend ordered a super veggie burrito. He’s a vegetarian so he DOESNOTEATMEATATALL. It makes him sick. Once the food came out, the woman said«veggie burrito?» and my friend raised his hand. He already took a bite when she came back with another burrito and said, «veggie burrito?» and I said that I ordered a fish burrito and he already received his veggie, then she said«oh no, he’s eating yours. Do you want me to remake it?» Both of us were horrified because he hasn’t eaten meat in a really long time. He only took one bite so he was fine after he spit it out. I asked her if they could remake my fish burrito and she came back and said«we’re not going to remake it because it’s your fault.» EXCUSEME, HOWISITMYFAULTIFYOUCALLEDIT A VEGGIEBURRITOWHENYOUBROUGHTITTOUS!!! Could you imagine if he was allergic to fish?!

The last time I was here(also the first time) was immensely disappointing. A tiny bit of food for way too much money. I thought I would give them another chance since I was at the Safeway anyway. I ordered different items than I did the last time thinking I would have better luck. However, my experience was precisely the same. Great service(5 stars for that), mediocre food(perhaps 3 stars), for way too much money(no stars). Seriously, $ 9.50 for four taquitos? I thought for that much money that they would be extraordinary, if not enormous. They were neither. Been there twice now and regretted both visits.

This is a great little place! It was recommended by locals on a previous visit to Arcata. The menu is huge, with lots of selections. It is a small place and does not accommodate larger parties well. Six or eight people could combine tables to sit together if desired. Lots of people were eating in and the takeout line was nonstop. The tostada salad was filling and basic at a little over $ 8. The chips were light and yummy. My friend loved her nachos. The service was friendly & helpful. Take a look at the menu online before coming in, so your prepared to make your decision on what yumdish to try. We had to let several people in line jump ahead of us as we had too many choices. The locals of Arcata were right — this is a great little hole-in-the-wall kind of place.

There had been some issues with mixed up orders in my recent visits, but I’m pleased to say that they seem to have worked the bugs out(knock on wood). Went here again & my order was all correct and delicious– I’m cautiously optimistic & will be back!

We went there for what we thought would be cheap, good, food truck-like food. The service was very good(the cashier was very helpful and nice) and the food was ok. I got a burrito which was adequate and we got some chips and salsa. The salsa was good but not anything unique. My wife got a taco which was good but a bit pricy for what we got.(It was about $ 3.50 for one taco.) I would consider going back if I just wanted food but would try other restaurants first. Thanks!

Ricos is the best of the 98 Mexican restaurants in Humboldt county!!! Girls are always sweet and friendly. BEST chile rellenos and enchiladas.

Prices are good and I love that they dont charge extra for substiutions like black beans instead of regular or grilled chicken instead of shredded… but overall the taste was just too much for me… they need to lighten up on the salt… chips, chicken, beans… everything had a lot of saltiness to it. I’m more of a simplistic person but I will definatelt return here again.

Ricos Tacos really has gotten a lot better in the past few years. Many years ago, they ALWAYS got my order wrong, and had extremely slow service. But more recently, their service has been very efficient(both fast and accurate). They don’t get my orders wrong anymore, and the food is excellent.

Hi, I have been going to Rico’s for maybe 8 years, once a week. I LOVE your food! Very delicious. But recently you have changed something with the Fajita plate. I often get two chicken fajita plates for my wife and I, and though they are expensive it is worth it because there is so much chicken — enough for leftovers. For the last two times I ordered Chicken Fajita plate, there was much less chicken. And to replace the chicken there is added chills and almost a whole tomato. That is not good. For 28.00 plus tip I expect the same amount of chicken that you have been serving for many years. Please tell the cook to give the proper amount of Chicken, or lower the price. Thank you.

Best Mexican food in Arcata, bar none. I frequent Pepe’s, but for chile relleno and chile verde, I go to Ricos. The staff is super friendly, and even though it’s understaffed sometimes, the waitresses do well and keep working efficiently under pressure. The food is ALWAYS amazing and delicious! Their lengua is tender and melts in your mouth. The cabbage salad(?) they serve with their chips and salsa is super good; just take care not to eat all of it! This is the only place my roommate will get an al pastor burrito.

$ 1.95 for imported beers! Can you beat that? They have some really tasty Mexican food. Not the best in CA, but for price, quantity, and the flavor I keep coming back!

I want to give this place another half star because it’s halfway to give stars. I stopped in because I was near by and nothing else was looking appetizing. I took advantage of the $ 1.50 tacos they had going on. When you walk in you order at the counter with the menu on the wall just to your right. Burritos, tacos, tamales, menudo, dinner plates. They have it all. I was craving tacos al pastor and the menudo immidiately after seeing it on menu. They give you a number and you have a seat while waiting for your food. Chips and salsa are brought out with your drinks. Not too big on their salsa it’s a bit spicy but it has no real flavor other than onion. I got my tacos shortly after and they looked as good as they taste, average. My menudo was good I mean I have has worse and I have also had better. All and all the place hit the spot but it didn’t hit a home run.
