We could not have been more lucky to stumble upon this delicious restaurant. On a road trip home from Oregon I randomly stated«I want a pot pie» and after a quick search we found Slice of Humboldt Pie about an hour away from where we were currently at on highway 101. Let me just tell you, this place is WORTHTHEWAIT, while they have a small selection everything is savory and absolutely beautifully crafted. We landed on a Chicken Pot Pie and a Beef and Mushroom, and we realllllllly wanted to try the Empenadas as well, but we were just completely stuffed. All day long today we’ve been kicking ourselves for not buying a few extra pies to take home and freeze.(Yes they sell frozen pies for take home). I can’t attest to their sweet dessert pies other than to say that given their great reviews, we will be trying them on our next visit up the coast!

Once again was treated to the very flakiest empanadas and the chocolate silk pie split between three of us was the perfect end to the meal. Peanut butter pie I brought home to share with my husband. Insanely delish! If you haven’t been to Bittersweet and Slice Of Humboldt Pie yet you are really missing something special!

They had a very small selection of pies and not a single fruit pie, all dessert pies where cream pies. Savory pies are small and limited in selection.

Pie and cider! What’s not to love? I’m a big fan of samples soooo the 4 oz taster for ciders is ahmazing. The pie crust is perfect. Yum. I want a pie right now!

Located inside of Bittersweet as one of two companies operating, Slice of Humboldt is serving up some really tasty pies — both sweet and savory. Savory pot pies like; turkey and dressing during the holidays(my wife and I spilt one and it was delicious), and then there is their classic chicken pot pie which is simply wonderful; light flaky crust and filled with all kinds of veggies, chunks of savory chicken, all in a delicious cream sauce baked inside that awesome crust! There are cream pies of all kinds and fruit pies of various kinds offered by the slice or whole, which changes regularly. There is a very small bar area with limited seating inside, with a random scattering of tables and chairs, which it shares space with the Local Cider Company. As well, there’s a cool outside patio area if the weather is nice enough. A little bit on the pricey side(25 $ for a large pot pie that feeds 4+/-), but good for a treat or whenever you’re in need of a change of pace of what to eat. 3.5 rounded up for all the cool recycled and repurposed fixtures and décor. 337

Went with friends to eat and drink. Drinks we had all had horrible after taste. The individual pies were so small it was unbelievable. All bread and no filling; my pizza had less than TBSP of filling. They were out of all meat filling pies at 5:00 on Saturday night. We bought at least 6 pies and no one was happy and we were all hungry after. Never again; i’ll pass. The counter person Sara left something to be desired in the customer service department.

The pie is AMAZING. They need more seating. The patio outside looks nice, but it should be covered and have space heaters. It’s a waste of space as it is right now. I love that they have such a variety of pot pie and the veggie pot pie was delicious. I’ve tried to make veggie pot pie and it just never comes out as savory as this. So delicious.

So far, SO very good. Fresh pie, sweet or savory. Hand made with good coffee. Eat there or take home. Arcata’s new pie and hard cider shop is open and it is a pleasure. Located across from the Co-Op, this new location for Slice of Humboldt Pie is a comfortable place to have an empanada and a salad, grab a steak and mushroom to go or take home a warm chicken pot pie. They have lots of sweet pies too, hallmark buttermilk pie, apple, key lime… it is a rotating carousel of mouth fun. They just opened October 10th so expect a few bumps. The remodeled space is kind of cool, reclaimed wood and a patio for sunny days. Final word. Yum.
