I got a curly cut from Kalanit. She was amazing. Totally understood what I was looking for and took the time to listen to my complaints about my hair. She also recommended different products than just the generic deva curl products. She understood that my thin greasy hair needs an actual shampoo not just giving me the basic no poo speech. She also styled it amazing and gave me even more tips– a deva curl mousse rather than a heavy sticky gel I was suggested from another deva salon and how to use clips to get volume in roots. I’m looking forward to going back hopefully for color next time, because her suggestions for my hair were exactly what I was envisioning. Too bad it’s out of my college budget otherwise I would have done the color that day! Can’t wait to go back to her

i went to Kalanit based on Unilocal reviews– I can only say WOW! Kalanit is an artistic genius. My hair was in sad shape from sewn in hair extensions. Kalanit changed my hair’s texture, growth, health, color– I, gratefully and happily gave her free reign to do whatever she thought would improve my sorry excuse for hair. Again– one word– WOW! My hair and I are eternally grateful– My selfish self is hating this post, but my «paying it forward» self says but for previous Unilocal reviews, I never would have found her– truly a hidden gem…

I am in love with my hair! Who says that after visiting a hair salon for the first time? I’m so happy my friend told me about them. Rae not only listened when I described what I wanted and didn’t want but she also heard what I DIDNT say. She gave me the best and natural color I’ve ever had! She also worked with my crazy waves and gave me such a great cut! Rae also showed me some new techniques to style my hair. To top it off I was offered yummy coffee AND they fed my meter for me when it was close to running out. All this at such an affordable price considering it’s located on the Main Line. Please don’t hesitate in setting up an appointment. This place is really great. I already set my second appointment!

I had my first devacurl cut today with Jen. It was AMAZING. I have never been so happy with my hair. She walked me through my hair routine and helped me understand my curls. I feel beautiful.

I am giving it one star not because of the quality of the cut but because she did not NOTNOT do what I asked. I asked for a LONG bob to my shoulders. My hair is now at my ears. Please do not go here as I sit here on day 3 of my new haircut crying because I am so sad with how I look and how much money I blew on this. 85 for deva cut 20 tip for Christmas. So so sad…

i just had my first devacurl cut and highlights with Kalanit. She is amazing. She actually listens. She gave my curls a beautiful cut and explained how to recreate the look at home. I am very happy with my color as well. She is such a beautiful person too, very calming and genuine. The salon was very nice with delish coffee. They also fed my meter when i was running late for me. I would highly recommend Kalanit for curly hair. She transformed my dry frizzy mane into healthy bouncy ringlets. Thank you Kalanit. I will def be back.

Just moved to Main Line this year, and went to Kalanit based on Unilocal reviews. Best hairdresser I’ve ever had – the first who has truly understood my dry/curly/thick hair(and I’m turning 40! And have lived in several places). I have been back several times, constantly receive compliments from everyone, including random people in the street and stores. I have even taken my 7-year-old daughter whose hair is even more difficult than mine; she had the diva cut, and her hair is now an adorable bob and off her neck for the summer(instead of braids and ponytails full of impossible knots). She has been getting constant compliments, and it is finally under control – she can even do it herself – no more morning tears and drama. My hair, while being really short, is still feminine and absolutely zero effort for me. No more bad-hair-days, whatever the weather. THANKYOUKALANIT. Am moving into Philadelphia now, but will still keep going to Rae & Co. Worth the effort.

I am thrilled to have found Rae & Co. As you look at the salon from the street, its exterior is subtle, modest and relatively small. Though it’s on Lancaster Ave. in the heart of downtown Ardmore, quite honestly, I never even noticed that the salon was even there. I’ve always liked my curly hair and, despite the insistence of most stylists, refused to own a blow dryer or hair brushes. My hair would curl(sort of) and kink up and flip around and make crunchy sounds(because it was so dry – and, okay, it’s white and colored.) I tried all sorts of goop, sprays, texturizers, volumizers, this expensive shampoo and that salon recommended conditioner. Photos have permanently documented the chaos on my head. My hair never look good. At some point, I simply understood that my hair would always look like my cats nested in and slept in my hair(which, of course, they had…) Stylists would comb out my wet hair, try to find the cowlicks and then cut in straight lines(as they did with straight haired clients.) If my hair started to dry and the curls began to appear, my hair would be re-wet for the cut. Then, they would blow out my hair, put ‘product’ on it and send me on my way knowing full well that my hair would never look ‘orderly’. I’d been going to a downtown Phila. salon that made the least mess of my hair. Weary of the expensive city parking, when the salon closed, I began a search to find a salon close to home. After living 13 years in downtown Phila and 12 years in the ‘burbs, I finally found stylists who understand and know how to cut curly hair! After a few missteps, I found Rae & Co. and discovered a world of stylists who know how to cut curly hair. I told Sam to do whatever she thought would look good; I had a ‘Deva Cut’(a process that other reviewers have described) and Sam showed me how to take of my hair. I learned more about my hair and its care at my initial Rae & Co. visit than my prior collective knowledge. Sam took my crooked hair cut and transformed it into something wonderful. At my last visit, Sam colored and put highlights in my hair. The highlights are beautifully placed in harmony with my curls. For the very first time in my life, my hair looks wonderful! Even my family was surprised by beautiful way the curls in my hair just fell into place… I guess they had just figured me for a moppy hair slob. The owner and stylists are friendly and thoughtful(Sam even kept track of my parking meter and went out to add quarters for me.) The salon is simple and comfortable(no posers or diva stylists here!) And, compared to the prices I’ve paid in downtown Phila and in NYC, Rae & Co. is a true bargain! And, hooray, my hair looks great! My curls look wonderful; my hair is soft and nicely shiny and healthy looking.

My last stylist had become progressively worse at cutting my hair and my color was not even holding through the first wash. A month ago I decided to try Rae & Co. based on the Unilocal reviews. I was not disappointed. Kallanit had an opening and did an amazing job with my low lights and base color. She took the color from brassy to a natural look. I went back today for base color and cut. Once again I was very pleased. She did an amazing job cutting and blow drying it. When it was dry she took her time to make some more precise cuts so that it lay just right. It looks awesome. Best cut I’ve had in a while. It’s the mainline’s best kept beauty secret.

Everyone was helpful and friendly. After hearing the difficulties I was having with my hair and what my ideal cut & care would be, Samantha gave me a GREAT haircut. Am enjoying my new look immensely and getting compliments every day. Barbara

Had previously been here for a Blow Dry and felt very comfortable, especially for a hair salon in the heart of the Main Line. Everybody was very attentive and nice. On a Saturday morning I decided to do Caramel Highlights and was lucky enough to have an opening for the same day with Kalanit. She is great! I have curly hair and was so relief to have someone that understands it. She did exactly what I asked for. I have finally found my to-go stylist. My Deva Cut is already scheduled and I am very exciting to do it. The best of it all? Their prices are fair!

ATTENTION all curly girls of Greater Philadelphia: Get your ass to Rae & Co. Listen, friends. I am salon-phobic. For years I cut my own hair for fear of leaving the stylist chair looking like a frizzy triangle from 1985. Then while in California, I found the phenomenon of the dry hair cut. The premise? Curly hair does not look the same wet as it does when it’s dry, so cut it when it’s dry. Pretty simple, but makes a world of difference. I’ve been looking for someone who can do a proper sculpted dry cut in Philly for YEARS to no avail. Today my search ended. How the hell has this place stayed off my radar? It has been in business for 9 years and has only a handful of Unilocal reviews, yet today I’m pretty sure I got the best hair cut of my life. Actually, I’m positive. Sam not only cleaned up all of my dead ends and reworked my layers, but she talked me through was she was doing and gave me a ton of really useful advice. My hair looks healthier, my curls look amazing, and I could not be happier. Fellow Botticelli vixens, stop being afraid to venture outside of city limits for a hair cut. Your curls will thank you.

I just moved to the Main Line from the city and I am somewhat of a salon snob. I have lived in the city for the past 18 years and was convinced that I had to get my hair cut at a fancy place in town. I also have very curly, unruly hair that I have a love/hate relationship with. I also was convinced I needed to stick with the curly hair expert I found in the city. Well, needed a hair cut and did not feel like battling finding a parking spot at my old salon so I researched curly hair stylist at naturally and came up with a bunch. I picked this one because it was close to my gym. I was skeptical – it was small and not fancy. But, I got a great hair cut. The DIva Curl expert was personable and everyone was friendly. She convinced me to go high-lights which I had never done. The results? Compliments every day. The cut? I actually have days where I don’t hate my hair – I actually love it more than hate it these days. I would go here again FORSURE.

great hair salon. very reasonably priced and they do a great job. I felt like they really listened to what I wanted and didnt force their own ideas about what would look good on me. Also, they are great about working with my schedule and fitting me in on a day convenient for me. I would recommend it to anyone!
