We ate dinner on 6-16-2012 there were 4 adults and 2 children(12&8) in our party. Lovely drive if you are they type that likes the backwoods of Tennessee. I had the Pork Rib Dinner with Fried Okra and Cole Slaw & roll($ 9.95). I rec’d 4 nice size BBQ Pork Ribs with meat that fell off the bone and a homemade BBQ Sauce(very ketchupy tasting to me — not my taste), an ample serving of freshly cut and fried Okra and cole slaw with a nice homemade dressing. The freshly made roll was good too. Other dinners were the smoked BBQ Chicken Breast and fries($ 9.95), 2BBQ Pork stuffed potatoes($ 5.50) and the kids each had a baked potato($ 4.00). The chicken was tasty, but slightly dry according to my friend. The BBQ Stuffed Potatoes were a huge dissapointment according to my husband and his nephew. The potatoes were very small with a very small portion of BBQ Pork(comparison: Big Bob Gibson’s in Decatur AL). Bacon bits were the fake kind. On the plus side — white sauce was fresh and homemade. Very unique in flavor. Slightly tangy, peppery and a hint of sweet, more thick than thin. Drinks were general Pepsi products which included Orange Fanta and Hawaiian Punch as well as Sweet/Unsweet tea. Desserts we had were Coconut Cream Pie(3 stars) homemade inside, pre-made pie shell, but tasty. Another guest asked for Apple Pie, but instead they offered to make him a Fresh Fried Apple Pie that came with his choice of ice cream — Praline Pecan. He raved about how fresh the Fried Apple Pie tasted. One of the kids had a scoop of ice cream(Purity Brand products) a generous scoop with crushed oreo cookies and big dollop of whipped cream. Other desserts were pie, cinnamon rolls(homemade); homemade cupcakes, and 2 kinds of cookies. Our waitress was excellent, she paid attention to the orders and was prompt at picking up sutle nuances such as my husband’s comment that he would like to try the Hawaiian Punch next time. Refills were free and glasses were large. We ate in the general dining area, but there were dining areas where one could view the large farm thru nice large windows. Where we were sitting it was slightly hot and could have been a little cooler inside. Outside is a great children’s adventure — there are a dozen or so goats that come up to the fence and after dinner we watched them play and chase each other. One Mama had a baby kid and several other Mama’s were expecting. There was a hutch with 3 rabbits inside that the kids could also walk up and touch the bunnies. Overall I would go there again, but not the best food or worst food I have ever had.

This little farmhouse style restaurant came highly recommended by some local friends of ours who had visited there recently. After reading up about it on their website I chose to visit on a Saturday for their Smoked BBQ dinner. We took my mother-in-law with us to celebrate her 69th birthday. We drove down a windy country road, crossed a creek and entered through the gate to the most peaceful little place ever! There were several farm animals playing in the pasture and just past them, through the trees we could see the newly built restaurant with a parking lot full of cars. From the parking lot we were greeted by a friendly horse and rabbit. We crossed a small bridge with flowers overhead and came to the front porch of the restaurant. Upon entering we were greeted by staff dressed in overalls, the entire front of the restaurant is a country store filled with old time favorites and handmade goodies. There were antiques from one end to the other and old folk music playing overhead. We chose a table by the window overlooking the pasture. The food was very good and dessert was even better. One of the owners came around with a tray full of freshly baked bread offering it to everyone. As we sat there enjoying our dinner we watched ducks walk just inches from us and goats pass by with their babies. It was truly a unique experience and Whistle Hollow Farm has so much more to offer! On certain days they offer free movies, gospel singing, breakfast, lunch and dinner and they even do weddings and other events! Check them out on their website or add them on Facebook.
