The nasty lady is harmless and her food is darn good. People should not be surprised by the nasty lady, she has a reputation for a reason, and if this was a true concern for her customers then she wouldn’t be in business. The fact that she is nasty and has been in business for a long time is a testament to how good the food actually is. I have ordered take-out from this place numerous times — spare ribs, lo mein, dumplings, general tso chicken, sesame chicken, happy family, chicken and broccoli, fried rice, etc … I have always had a good food experience.

Honestly… This place has been around forever… I am such a HUGE fan of their food and their staff… Jen…the lady that everyone has written these nasty reviews about… can be abbrasive… but its absolutely hilarious when she is. Truth be told, she is actually a very nice lady, She remembers your orders, will make recommendations based off of what you have eaten in the past and is an absolute peach to have a conversation with. She is a human being like all of us and has her good days and her bad days. Lets be honest, 20plus years running a takeout place will wear down any person. Especially if they are not treated like a decent human-being. I have witnessed her verbally abused by costumers… In fact… I commend her on being a bit short at times compared to having violent outbursts when dealing with how costumers have treated her. Have there been times that she has been rude to me in the 20yrs I’ve been going there? Yes. Can she be moody at times? of course, and does she sometimes appear to be angry? Yep. However, this does NOT make her a bad or rude person. Its a basic study of physics. Action/Reaction! Her«attitude» as so many people have put it is because of the plethora of pompous, nasty, self-centered and arrogant people from Westchester county that she has had to deal with. People look at it like this«the lady that runs the Chinese restaurant in Ardsley is nasty!» instead of looking at it as «I wonder what caused this lady to be so nasty?» it is a perfect example of the a bigger problem that shrouds human nature… Stupidity. Furthermore, When a person goes to a restaurant they basically want 3 things. 1) Good Food 2) Fair Pricing 3) Fair Treatment* *I am a firm believer that if you do not treat people with respect/decency they will not treat you with respect or decency. Being someone that has worked in some sort of restaurant or service industry for many years I can tell you first hand that the majority of people that go into a restaurant/bar etc etc… are not nice. So tell me, As a costumer. If you are constantly ridiculed, questioned or verbally abused… why go back to that place? In short… Why has China Pavilion been open for 20plus years if Jen is not a decent person and they do not make good food? Case Closed… China Pavilion is Awesome.

It’s Chinese fast good what do you expect? It’s what it is. I have to say I was disappointed at the Kung PO chicken though — I usually expect(haha) chunks of chicken not bits of corn starched chicken — I guess that’s here way. General Tso was waaaay to sweet. It works but only because it’s near by. Fast reliable timely service.

I’ve been ordering Singapore mai fun noodles for about a week now because my wife is recovering from pneumonia and she craves it. It is truly delicious. Also the hot and sour soup and the won ton soup. Stay away from the cold noodles with sesame sauce… too sweet. The woman in question is very brusque, but more like in a Seinfeldian way. She was out for a week because she hurt her arm. Today when I saw that she was back and told her how glad I was that she was back and a big smile broke out on her face. Then she went right back to her usual self.

The food is actually OK. The problem is the violent woman who runs the place. She is like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, no exaggeration! She actually yells at you! I politely asked for some soy sauce. She exclaimed, «Soy sauce?! What you want soy sauce for?! You not even taste food yet! What’s probrem?!» I said, «I like to put a little on my white rice.» She went totally postal on me! «WHAAAAT?! YOUNOPUTSOYSAUCEONLICE! YOUOFFENDTHEBUDDHA!» She then came out from behind the counter with my money in her hand, grabbed the food tray out of my hands and shoved my money back at me and declared«YOUNOEATHERENOMORE! GETOUT!» True story.

The woman who works here is just flat out rude and incredibly impatient. Food is good but not worth dealing with the cranky woman behind the counter.

Unless you’re into women verbally abusing you, I don’t think this place is for you. The woman who works the counter taking orders and running the register gets very angry, very fast. But not just over anything, its over EVERYTHING. The best is that she got mad at me because she had to repeat herself twice because I couldn’t make out what it was she was screaming at me about in the first place, between her loud, angry demeanor and her broken English, she was trying to ask me if I wanted a fork, but it came out sounding more like a battle cry of «FAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!» The food isn’t too bad though, if you can get an order of your food in. I swear the woman doesn’t understand what is on her own menus, even after you physically point out on the menu what it is you want to order. Also, I’ve ordered an item in there once before my last visit and then the second time I went in, she acted as if it was never on the menu. If you don’t want to make an item, or are out of stock, just say so. Don’t yell at me and try to belittle me. One would think they don’t want customers with the attitude given to you. Also, I know they can’t control this, but their clientele is mainly pig people, and I’m not talking about those funny faced characters from the Twilight Zone, I’m talking about your run of the mill gross, disgusting human being(well, at least the times I’ve gone in and braved the wrath of the angry counter woman). If you really want Chinese food and can’t take the verbal beatings, there’s a restaurant right down the street in the same town, but I wouldn’t really go there either. If you don’t mind the drive, you can go to the Chinese restaurant on East Hartsdale Avenue, on the corner near Central Avenue called New Garden. They have more options for food and a MUCH friendlier staff.
