Animal ER

First, I am truly sorry to hear any negative encounters that an owner may have at any emergency vet. I know first hand now the emotional state one goes through when their loved one is hurting, and the last thing anyone needs is horrible customer service.
I am fortunate to have received wonderful service at Animal ER. Trying to make a long story short: Friday night my beautiful dog Buster Bean started having seizures. We found Animal ER to be the closest emergency vet to us so we quickly drove him there. He ended up having to stay overnight and had 3 more seizures. The next morning he had a cat scan and turned out he had two tumors. We unfortunately had to make the decision to put Buster down that Saturday night.
But you don’t want to hear my depressing story — you want to know more about how Animal ER can help you during these devastating times. Well, we were fortunate to have fast service the moment we walked in. Ashley our tech that night was the nicest lady ever. You can tell she genuinely felt for us and cared about Buster’s well being. We only saw her that Friday night and hope she reads this so she knows how much we appreciated her efforts. She also encouraged us to call and come visit at any time and frequency we wanted. This was great reassurance that we practiced quite often over the next 24 hours to come.
Saturday morning was when we started talking to the regular vet Dr. Feltes. Even with the bad prognosis for Buster, she was such a caring person to talk to that it made the whole situation that much easier. She also encouraged us to come visit at anytime, so we did before his cat scan was to happen. She also was very accommodating of our schedule… My parents wanted to come see Buster before his cat scan so she very kindly scheduled his scan around what was convenient for us… Not for her. This was very much appreciated, as we could tell how busy the vet office was getting. She also talked to us in a way that we could understand the issues Buster was going through.
But the thing that I am most grateful for Dr. Feltes was her accommodation towards my husband and me when we had to make our most difficult decision. Dr. Feltes called us around 6 to give us the bad news of Buster’s cat scan results. We knew that there was nothing we can do anymore. I expressed my feelings towards Dr. Feltes that we would like her to be the vet that puts Buster to rest. I knew she was way over her work time already (she was supposed to leave at 4 that day!), so I told her that we can come back the next morning when she’s back in the office.
As soon as I got off the phone with her however, my husband and I knew that we couldn’t let Buster be in any more pain than he should be. We also selfishly knew that we couldn’t spend the rest of the evening and sleep at all that night knowing the impending doom that was awaiting us the next morning. I called dr. Feltes back and she completely understood our concerns, and without hesitation offered to wait for us to come that evening so we can all be at peace. This gesture alone is all the comfort we needed to put our loved one to rest.
So why only 4 stars and not 5? Well part of the reason we were so grateful for Dr. feltes’ generosity and kindness, and why we insisted she be the one to put Buster to rest is because my husband and I weren’t a big fan of the ER doctor that took care of Buster the night we brought him in. She was nice enough, but she really didn’t have bedside manners. I truly don’t think she meant to be rude, but any ER doctor should be aware of how they say things and should be consciously more sympathetic. I know this is an everyday job for them, but having your loved one hurting is not an everyday occurrence for your patients.
Along with this, while we loved Ashley, the staff that worked during the day on saturday were just ok. I know I called a lot over the course of the morning, but a couple of them were kind of rude and none were very welcoming the 2 hours we were in the waiting room during Buster’s cat scan. However, I do want to note that the techs working the night we put Buster down were just as kind as Ashley was. They knew of our situation and were very thoughtful to our needs.
Anyway, I know maybe I expected too much out of the morning staff, which is why I would still recommend going to Animal ER. In fact, we actually have another loving dog still with us, and would take him there in a heartbeat if God forbid anything were to happen to him. We are also seriously considering possibly changing our vet to Dr. Feltes if and when we are ready to take another rescue into our family.

We arrived there with our very ill cat after calling first. Doors ere locked but all the lights were on. We found a buzzer (on the exit door side) and waited several minutes before anyone came. Why the front door would not be staffed in an ER is beyond me. By the time someone came to open the door, another couple arrived with their cat. We were both put in rooms and they started taking the history on the other cat first. In the mean time between the car and getting into the room our cat passed away. We saw at least 4 people in the back milling around and no one came to help us. It was the worst customer service I had ever seen. Even after we told them that it was too late, they took the cat in the back and no one talked to us for another 5 – 7 minutes even though we saw plenty of people back there. Absolutely the coldest experience we have ever had. Definitely would not go back.

At 11p on an idle Monday night, I had this sinking feeling that our dog was more sick than we originally thought.
Out of safety and curiosity, I called up the animal ER to explain the situation.
Long story short, we made a late-​evening trip to the vet.
Everyone there was incredibly courteous.
He ended up staying there for two nights.
The one bummer was being told, «the amount you’re paying tonight is a high-​end estimate. Most likely it’ll be a lot lower than this (nearly 2 grand).» I carried on optimistically but when I came to pick our dog up — it cost MORE than the estimated amount. Ugh.
Price aside, I’m glad to have our dog back and that he’s in much better spirits and health!

Once again, Bubba went to Animal ER with what we thought was a torn ACL. The doctor on call, Dr Savio (sp?) was amazing as were all of the vet techs and front office. The vet’s expertise proved to be correct and it was recommended that we come back the next day to see the specialist, Dr Haase. I continue to applaud the compassion, expertise, and love that these folks have for their patients’ animals. And as it turned out, we were back the next day in the hands of Dr Haase who is CARE’s ortho specialist. Never would I go anywhere else with an emergency or when needing specialists. Animal ER you rock!!!

We took our dog in because he had gotten one of his nails pulled out when it got stuck in a crack of wood in the yard. There was not much bleeding, but we were seen immediately. They were able to see that the entire nail was gone. All the staff was sympathetic, kind and efficient. We were in and out in less than an hour. The doctor actually changed the procedure code to a repair of a broken nail, that saved us almost a hundred dollars.
They care about the animals, their owners and the owner’s pocketbook. Rare to find all three in a facility.
