I love the grigliata at this restaurant and it keeps me coming back. The restaurant itself is very well hidden, in a strip mall and it’s on the small size. I hear that it gets very busy at peak times and that there can be a wait. I came for dinner during the week so it was not too busy. I ordered the grigilata, which has calamari, octopus, and shrimp broiled with balsamic vinegar. It is served with eggplant and zucchini. It tastes like it comes right off of the barbecue. It is so delicious and I highly recommend it. It is my favorite dish on the menu. The portion is also very generous. I usually share it with friends as an appetizer. My friend had the brilliant idea of ordering it with pasta next time so I will have to do that. This time, it didn’t have the smokey flavor that it usually does so I was a little disappointed about that. It was still very good. I also ordered the spaghetti noodles with bolognese. I like my pasta al dente and kind of chewy and this pasta was cooked just perfectly. I also enjoyed the bolognese, which was sweet. My friend who tried it was not as big of a fan. I think because she does not like sweet spaghetti. Also, the owner stopped by our table to say hi, which I appreciated. Our waitress was also very friendly. Great Italian food. Highly recommend.

My husband and I had heard about this place and were anxious to give it a try. We finally made it there for his 65th birthday. It was fantastic! From the portibello mushroom appetizer to the pistachio gelato, it was a wonderful experience. I had the lobster ravioli — really good! And, I loved the atmosphere — small and unpretentious and the owner came by our table several times. Now on our list of regular stops.

Great little restaurant, full of local regulars who love fresh Italian food made with love. We had amazing pasta, perfectly al dented and tasted freshly made, amazing lobster ravioli, and fantastic cannolis. The wait staff was attentive and friendly, the owner came out and chatted with us, then went back to cooking. Décor is plain, tables close together, but this just helps focus on the amazing food and neighborly atmosphere.

We went here last night(4−9−16) and had some of the worst service we have ever had. The staff were all on their phones. The manager did try and get the staff to help but, not effective. I got a dish I did not order. No one ever came by to see how things were going. The manager was busy counting money at the table next to us. Rough experience.

Since moving out to SW Connecticut 3 years ago, I have yet to find an Italian restaurant where you know each dish is freshly prepared and authentic. Coming back for a short visit to Chicago, I made sure my first stop, straight from O’ Hare airport, was Joe Guiseppe for a late lunch. I needed my J & G fix. Was not disappointed and in fact Pasquale treated us with freshly made cannoli for desert! Never been disappointed! Thank you!

I love their lasagna, taste fresh and not burned on the sides as usually done in other restaurants.. We have tried other dishes and taste great too but my fav is lasagna. The staff is very friendly feels like a family there. The owner comes out to small talk with the customers, very friendly. The line gets long at times the place is small but so worth it. Mmmmmm

This was the worst food of any type that I have had in the Northwest suburbs in 20 years. The octopus was«not fresh» and had to be sent back because it smelled«wrong». Our friend, who likes the restaurant for some reason and took us there, was the victim. She declined an offer of something else. Smart move. The lasagna was warm, at best, with a runny, orange sauce. The service was abrupt and impatient. The patrons were loud and rough. The minestrone used a canned stock – no freshly made soup here. Appropriately, the restaurant is located in an industrial area – where it belongs.

Expensive. Lousy service. Truly flavorless food. Like an Italian greasy spoon in an industrial park.

The words to describe how mad I am can not be described. Sat at 745 and check given at 945. We got one appetizer, the mushrooms that were the only thing about this meal that meant anything, and still 2 hours to get our meal and check no thank you. Service; terrible. We literally saw our waitress three times. No water no service no anything. To say we felt like an afterthought means they at least thought of us and they did not. Her meal with chicken with asparagus and forget the fact that it was served in hour late The chicken looks like any of the process chicken that you get at McDonald’s and asparagus was overcooked. I get the risotto with the basically it was just a seafood Medley and it was equally awful. Pretty sure that was just rice and not risotto the clams and mussels her over cook the shrimp was tough. I was thinking this is what I see a white based milk in it was tomato-based which is fine it doesn’t post to be but it also taste like rague. After waiting an hour before we get our meal and you cannot tell me that they sat there for 2030 minutes and we’re just microwaved. The fact that one have to play the sauce look like it was cold and then when you cut into the chicken in it was steaming hi kinda tells you it was microwaved. I’ve been here for take out a few times in and out in 20 minutes in the food was good. Take some way here in a day for a sitdown meal in the service is terrible and the food is all over cooked. And I like to eat. Not happy They give you complementary powdered cakes that taste like carnival snacks and even those felt old. All in all, it took 2 hours to get one appetizer and two entrees. Unacceptable at any venue. Much less here.

First time here and walked in to nobody greeting us at all. Stood at the front door while a gentleman was running from table to table. He then just tells us to sit down anywhere. Brings us menus about ten minutes after that. Comes to take our order and does everything at one time, drinks, dinner, the whole thing. Food comes out and it was just so-so and barely any pasta with the chicken parm. About 7 pieces of pasta. I guess I should of just ordered pasta alone because that was better than the Chicken parm. Seemed like if you weren’t a regular here you didn’t fit in. We probably won’t be back. Better service and food at other Italian restaurants.

My girlfriend went here last week on a recommendation. We were not disappointed. The moment we walked in the hostess(owner) greeted us warmly and seated us immediately. Initially the service was so-so but it was crowded and we were in no hurry. The food made up for the so-so service. The bread was excellent and the olive oil was fresh. The food came out piping hot. The chicken marsala was excellent and I highly recommend it. The owner came around and was very friendly. The portions were a good size so as to not overwhelm you, but not to leave you hungry either. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our meals and will certainly be back. Authentic Sicilian style Italian food!!! I only wish they could serve hard liquor. They serve beer and wine.

Absolutely fabulous Italian restaurant with REAL authentic Italian cuisine. We went in on a Saturday night and it was starting to get full due to the fabulous food and atmosphere.(So I would recommend calling and making reservations, especially if wanting to go on a Friday or Saturday night). They have tables for larger parties and also tables for 2, so they accommodate all party sizes appropriately. Definitely worth the drive if you are coming from a distance and definitely a place to be a regular at. Perfect for families, couples and everything in between! Will absolutely be coming back!

This place is amazing! We were on our way to another Italian restaurant when we got there they were closed. Well… we decided to give Joe & Giuseppe a try after a friend recommended it to us a while ago. It was life changing. The clams were the best I have had in over 25 years. The breading was so tasty and the clams the CLAMS were tender and succulent. Then I had the lobster ravioli and again YUM that vodka sauce will be in my dreams. If I was a prisoner this would be my last meal! My husband had the stuffed gnocchi OMG I will be having that next time. Then hey top off this delicious dinner with a light powder sugar cookie. The service was fantastic and the chef Pasquale came out to talk to his diners. My new favorite place for an amazing Italian dinner.

We had a wonderful experience here Saturday night with a group of 5 for a birthday dinner. The baked clams and lobster ravioli were amazing along with excellent service. The owner came out of the kitchen to say hello to each table and check that they were satisfied. Cappuccinos and tiramisu along with the lightly fried cookies in powdered sugar were an excellent way to top off the night. We will be coming back here again soon!

This is our third takeout visit. Eggplant Parmesan and Meat Lasagna have been very good each time. Cannellonis are great. The veal mushroom dish was disappointing. Very good service, but very cramped space. If you can get there on a weekday you’ll be less crowded. I recommend the takeout and that you experiment. You will likely discover something you like and call on as a reliable choice… those are not so common around any neighborhood.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I see this place on Restaurant Impossible at some point in time. Wouldn’t know what the food tastes like, because we walked out of the place when we saw that the prices were up to $ 7 more on the dine-in menu, than the menu on the website. The menu online was apparently only for take out, but doesn’t specify that at all, nor is there an alternate«dine-in» menu on the website. When we brought it up to the host, she didn’t seem phased by the issue or the fact that we were leaving, so we didn’t bother to stay. Reservation system was a hand-written list on a scrap sheet of paper and there was really nowhere to wait for a table. Waitstaff was running around and after 5 minutes sitting at our table, nobody had said a word to us… overall seemed rather disorganized. If the front of the house is disorganized, can’t imagine what goes on in the back. If you have patience, maybe check the place out — food might be decent(but likely not worth the ridiculous upcharge for«dine-in»). If not… probably a good idea to stay away from this one. Also, I guess a word to whoever makes or types the menus… it’s Chicken Piccata, not Chicken«Picante»… unless you’re using Pace in an Italian dish.

This is by far the friendliest Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to! The food is delicious as well. My mom and I went for lunch. We started with a bottle of wine, of course, along with the portabello mushroom appetizer which was very flavorful and to die for! We ordered 2 entrees and decided to split them both so we could both have different tastes. We got the lobster ravioli which gaff a delicious shrimp sauce with little pieces of shrimp in it, and the chicken ortalano which included artichokes and asparagus with a light lemon cream sauce. Delicious. I highly recommend both entrees. Aside from the great food was the great owner who kept checking on us and even sang and danced as he delivered us fresh watermelon for dessert. He sat with us and talked with us for awhile. He was very friendly and professional! Ill definitely be back!

A mom and pop storefront place in an ugly small strip mall. The décor is tired and the service friendly but perfunctory. The lobster ravioli was smothered in way too much sauce. My friend’s gnocchi looked better. That said, it is the kind of place where you can chat with friends without feeling rushed – just like at Grandma’s house. I wouldn’t recommend it for a business lunch though.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. My first experience was great, my second time was not. The first time I came at around 5:45pm for dinner on a Tuesday with a friend who recommended it. Everything from the service to the food was excellent. The waitress was super friendly and we were seated right away. We ordered the grilled seafood appetizer(grigliata) and I ordered the fra diavolo with minestrone soup on the side. The bread that comes with the meal was roasty toasty, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. The minestrone soup was flavor and the vegetables were nice and mushy. The grilled seafood appetizer was superb. If I had to order one dish at this restaurant, this would be it. The pasta actually had a bite and was spicy, which I was surprised by because I have a high tolerance for spicy food. The only complaint I had about the food was that the shrimp was overcooked and tough. The restaurant is also a bit pricey. During our visit, Italian families started piling in so I thought it must have been authentic Italian food. The second time I came back for lunch with friends. I could smell the grilled seafood from the parking lot. It was actually pretty busy. The waitress let us choose our seats. We ordered the grigliata, the gnocchi with marinara, the eggplant parm, and the lobster ravioli. Lunch was slightly less expensive than dinner. Again the grilled seafood was wonderful. It was seasoned well, the portions were generous, and it tasted like it had come straight off the barbecue. Everything else was just meh. With my side salad, I ordered garlic dressing. It was overdressed and kind of sour. I wasn’t a fan. I’ve made eggplant parm before so I know how time consuming and labor intensive it is. The one at the restaurant was just ok. A little on the mushy side and not flavorful. The lobster ravioli was very sweet and the filling kind of reminded me of a crab rangoon. The gnocchi was bland. I noticed the owner making rounds at all the tables but he did not stop by our table. I don’t know if it was because he knew the people at the other tables or if it was because we were not Italian. This kind of upset me. I know he saw us. He just didn’t take the time to say hi. The bathroom was not wheelchair accessible. A wheelchair cannot fit in it. It’s also a bit hard to maneuver around because the restaurant is small and the tables are close together. Luckily we sat at a table right by the door. I would definitely go back for grigliata but I’m not so sure about the other dishes.
