Of all the greasy spoon diners in the DC area this is easily the best. Just expect a line if you show up between 10 and noon on a weekend

Some diners give fancy American restaurants a run for their money when their food tastes better and is cheaper than theirs. This is not one of those cases. The food is definitely your every expectation of diner food– greasy and overall okay. I love Bob & Edith’s because not only do they meet my expectations of what every classic diner should have, they are also open 24 hours and is the perfect place to hit that drunk person’s heart. Am I giving them a better than average rating because they fulfilled my needs at 3am? Yes, certainly. Because if you’re hungry past 3am and everywhere else is closed, clearly, B&E has your back.

I’m between a three and a four, but for nostalgia’s sake, I’d rather lean towards a four. I remember coming here as a child with my grandmother. In college, we came here after a late night of drinking or going to the club. As an adult, my husband and I periodically walk here from our home because we want something simple and comforting. They’re a basic diner; there’s no specialty dish that they serve, and the food is good but not amazing. However, it’s a Columbia Pike institution that is conveniently open all hours of the night.

This place is the epitome of the classic American diner, and proudly so! I love it, the pics on the wall, the booths and atmosphere, the brilliant diner food and amazing prices… no wonder there is usually a queue to get in!

The upside is that it is open 24-hours and that it takes me back to my younger days of late-night-diner-hanging in NJ, although this place would be swallowed up in the huge diners of my youth(hello Eagle Rock & Tick-Tock Diner). The staff was very nice and the place was surprisingly packed at 7:30 on a Saturday morning. However, the food was bland. Heck, even borderline not good. The turkey sausage was heavy with rosemary(ew) and although I never put salt on anything, the eggs & breakfast potatoes needed it. Most disappointing of all? The coffee was awful.

Dont expect much. Diner food with diner service. Not bad for cheap food and it wont cost an arm and a leg. I had a double cheese burger, fries and water, bill was $ 8. Not a bad place, but not as awesome as some of the other reviews.

We went to church on Christmas Eve, what we thought would be an hour service was actually almost two hours(much to my moms delight). The fiancé recommended this place as he had fond memories from his college days. This place is perfect for any midnight cravings you could imagine! The food was all really tasty and to be expected. The service was extremely slow and she forgot an order placed(it’s Christmas Eve so to be expected), all in all we would come again when in a crunch.

Great food but no room to move or breathe. My dad was sat next to the register and every time someone would come up to pay they would touch his food, gross. But the breakfast here is banging, be prepared for a tight squeeze !

Best diner!!! Have only been here for breakfast but I’ve cleaned my plate every time! At breakfast time, go expecting a wait, but trust me the wait is well worth it! Besides, the line moves quickly!

I love this place and it’s mainly to do with the consistency re: staff. Many people have worked there for years, and it’s comforting. B&E’s is local to me, so the parking issue is generally not a concern.

I’m always a little skeptical of 24 hour diners. But who am I kidding? I love them. I… no WE need more of these around at 2am, 3am, you know, the times when you crave delicious grease sliding down your throat! Mmmmm. When we pulled up I was like whoa… it was right next to a gas station and it was packed! We called in our pick up order on the ride over to save time thankfully. I went inside to pay and it was like the after hours spot. Music… good music was blasting… not so loud that it was obnoxious, but loud enough to notice you were about to dine in at the after party. Anyway, my brother swears by the cheesesteak with everything on it so that’s what we got. I ate that thing with my eyes closed and enjoyed every single bite. It was pretty darn big too so I should have felt guilty afterwards but instead I just smiled and wondered how good it would be at 3pm instead 3am. LOL. Real talk. I think it would still be yummy and I’m willing to go back and try out this theory next time.

This is one of the place I like to go eat after a night out with friends always serving a good food. Stuff is very nice and friendly Plus the history about this place it’s very nice. Next time you go to this place ask the waiter about the history of the place. Or look at the wall pics !!!

Heart-attack on a plate but a great if not excellent greasy spoon. What’s not to love? I’ve been coming here for years and no matter what I’ve ordered, it’s always been consistent and excellent. No complaints outside of it not being a very big location and parking is a nightmare. But metro buses are a plenty so there’s not much cause or reason to drive here. Park elsewhere, bus it there and back to your chariot. Staff are always friendly and your order will come very quickly, so ordering an appetizer of any sort, is totally not necessary and is almost a waste. I suppose you can take a doggy bag home, which is something I never do. But that’s just me. Overall, you can’t go wrong here, but late night on Friday’s and Saturday nights, try finding somewhere else, because it’s so packed in here that you may have to wait a life-time and a half to be seated and of course, given the space limitations, you’re almost certain to be bumped into.

I love that they are open 24 hours a day. It’s basically comfort food. Not as many selections as you would find in other diners. They have really good pies though. The food itself is delicious, a little greasy but it was okay for me. Staff were amazing. Parking was no problem at all too. My favorite pie was of course boston kreme!!!

Good olé Bob & Edith’s. I had only eaten here late night awhile ago but recently had the chance to have breakfast here. You come here for a greasy brunch, let’s be clear. There aren’t any egg white omelets or salads here. I ordered the egg benedict special with a side pecan waffle(carbs!) and my bf ordered the tuna melt with a side of bacon. As you can tell, we blew our diets. Egg benedict was okay, ham too thick and bulky. Pecan waffle was bland, not really worth the carbs. My bf’s tuna melt he said was okay. I don’t know, they’re not winning any innovative menu or best restaurant awards, but Bob & Edith’s is a staple of Arlington and great for some greasy hangover food with excellent, friendly service.

End world hunger… Feed everyone corned beef hash, eggs, and hash browns from B&E’s! It’s filling and delicious. I made sure to ask for the hash«well cooked» to get crispy edges. I also made sure to get hash browns since they’re much better than home fries. If this will be your first visit then I suggest starting with this. On the other hand, if you’ve been here before then why are you reading this.

Cyndy’s Bottom Line: Looking for a diner? I’ve found a good one for breakfast! It is hard to find a true diner these days. I like all the greasy goodness! Ordered the corned beef hash with fired eggs and hash browns. Great way to start the day! The corned beef hash is grilled well with yummy crunchy, crispy edges. The hash browns have the same crunchy delicious edges. The eggs were cooked a perfect easy over. Consistent food and service!

I’m beginning to think that early morning workouts make my days off so much more productive. Hit up AM cycling at Washington Sports Club in Clarendon and found myself absolutely starving. Max was up, and also off today so we decided to get breakfast at Bob and Edith’s Diner on Columbia Pike. Both of us decided to get the country fried steak, and neither of us was disappointed. It reminded me of a tasty home cooked version of something grandma would whip up. I was pleasantly surprised by how little oil they used to cook my home fries. Often when cooking home fries or hash diners will use way too much oil and over salt. At Bob and Edith’s they barely salted anything, which I really appreciated. If you’re looking for a home cooked start to your day, or a late night option for munchies, I would definitely recommend Bob and Edith’s Diner.

Solid diner food and excellent experience all around! This place gets PACKED. Even on a Friday morning, we got the last spot in the parking lot. We ordered take-out because we anticipated this place would be crowded even then! We both got the double bacon cheeseburger with fries and LOVED it! Wowzas! I’m not traditionally a fan of cheeseburgers(but recently became one) and this burger really hit it out of the park with its deliciousness and quantity! My accolades don’t do this burger justice. To say it’s the best diner burger I’ve ever had would be a severe understatement. My fiancé loved it too. We were both very happy campers. Service was excellent and our food was already ready by the time we got there(we called ahead 10 minutes ahead of time). Despite the crowded parking lot and crowded place at all times of the day, I think Bob and Edith’s is totally worth a visit if you’re craving diner food in Arlington! And it’s apparently open 24⁄7. Total win!

B&E’s Diner is about as good as it gets for a diner. They have fast service in a cute little(emphasis on little) very diner-esque diner. The menu is extensive and we dropped in for a regular breakfast consisting of eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast. We sat by the bar and watched the cooks work, and we thought that the pancakes and omelettes looked great as well. To be honest, we are huge omelette snobs so for us to think these looked great says a lot. The thing that makes this diner special are the people. They are universally the most happy group of people I’ve ever seen. I asked one of them if you can order banana pancakes, a favorite of mine that isn’t on the menu. He said yes, and also gave me a story about how great they are and how they are a favorite among staff. Parking was really limited, appropriately for the size of the restaurant, so I street parked a few blocks away. Strangely, they also have wifi. And I noticed a large number of regular customers who knew exactly the prices of their meals down to the penny, as well as being known by the wait staff. Each table has a little story card about the history of the diner. It’s a real family operation. It was fun to experience!

I will preface this review by stating that when I came to Bob & Edith’s I was severely hungover/struggling and in dire need of greasy diner food. As far as greasy diner food goes, this place is pretty spot on. It’s a small joint with only a dozen or so tables and about 10 bar spots. I’ve tried to come before on a weekend morning and faced crazy long lines, so I’m glad that when I showed up on a Friday at 1 pm, there was one open table. Lots of traditional egg breakfast options to choose from, and they have standard lunch fare like sandwiches, burgers, and fries. I got corned beef hash/scrambled eggs/home fries/toast. I tried some grits too which were well cooked. Everything was satisfying, especially given my dehydrated, hungover state. Service is efficient and if you like diner food, you’ll like Bob & Edith’s. I was a tad let down based on the stellar reviews it gets though… It wasn’t anything outright special. The corned beef hash was clearly from a can and the orange juice was not fresh squeezed. he homefries were just chunks of grilled potatoes — no extra seasoning. My other qualm is with the pricing-it’s really not that dirt cheap. Corned beef hash dish was around $ 9 I believe… But the food is definitely a-ok comfort food. Just be prepared to wait for a table(I’ll come back but I personally do not think this place is worth waiting in the crazy long weekend lines).

Bob & Edith is like one of those hole in the wall diners where the regulars come and love for years and years. It’s a small little diner that serves all your typical breakfast classics like french toast, pancakes, eggs any way, omelettes, and much more! Their prices are SO reasonable. You can mix and match or just pick one of their meals right off the menu. They are open 24 hours!!! I have been coming here with my friends at 5AM and they never fail to please our grumbling stomachs. Everyone here is super nice and friendly and very casual-it’s a very no bells and whistles type of place. Their portion sizes are super large(like, one pancake is enough for me) and their service is VERY fast. It’s one of those places that you can go sit at the counter and grab a quick meal or sit and catch up with an old friend till dawn.(Though, they don’t have specials till around 7AM… so don’t look for eggs benedicts or other specials before the crack of dawn). The one critique I have about this diner is the size-it’s a very tiny place. If you come with a large group(anymore than 4 people), you have to split up and sit separately(you can’t move tables around and combine). However, the good news is that they are opening a brand new diner somewhere in Springfield? Soon! So definitely look out for that! They said there will be a bigger dining room with the same great food!

Food prices have notched up a bit since my last visit. My hangup isn’t necessarily with the pricing, it’s with the product. If you’re gonna charge what you charge the quality should back it up. Waffle House quality doesn’t equal Ted’s Bulletin brunch pricing.

Always great service. The burgers are delicious with fresh ingredients-if you don’t know what to order just get a burger. You will not be disappointed! Breakfast is simple yet delicious. Perfect for a late night craving since it’s open 24⁄7 or just on a Sunday morning when you want someone to make you a nice wholesome meal.
