Tired old restaurant with salsa that tastes like watered down Pace. Food is fair at best. It’s been there forever and some people just love this place and I have no idea why… Maybe it’s tradition for them I don’t know. I’ve nick named it Café Aca-puke-o. We’ve been a couple of times over the years and it’s still the same.

Had lunch there yesterday. I’m a fan. The place needs some renovation, but I much more interested in the taste of the food and service than the ambiance of a restaurant. My lunch was tasty and the server was very friendly and attentive. The chips were hot and crisp; the enchiladas tasted great. I’ll be back.

I so wanted to love this place. It’s very close to where I recently moved and if it was even just ok I’d probably frequent it often. Nope. I will not be going back. It’s mediocre at best. The three of us that dined there didn’t like anything that we ordered it was all very bland. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is the service was ok. I’m actually surprised they are still open.

Honestly if I could rate no stars, I would. I was feeling adventures one day and asked my sister if she wanted to try one of the places we always receive coupons from in the mail. We had a buy one lunch get one free I think. This was actually a while back, but I thought I would let everyone know what type of filthy place this is. So first off, the place is very outdated inside. Looks like it’s probably looked the same since the 70s or 80s. i don’t know how old it is, but I went on a Friday during lunch time and there were only a couple elderly couples there. The décor is horrendous and I really hate the old ice cream cups they use for salsa. I can deal with bad décor. What I can’t deal with is finding hair in my food. Not once, but twice. My sister found one in her food too. What the heck. It kinda made me think it was intentional. I don’t know how it’s even possible to have that much hair in two plates of food. Totally gross. I would never go back. I don’t care how it tastes, but fyi, it doesnt taste good. This place needs to be shut down and there are plenty of mexican and tex mex spots that are clean, have great food and an attentive staff in the dfw. By the way, there was only one waiter when I went and the manager or owner seemed annoying. The micromanaging was demeaning and I felt bad for the waiter. He actually did a decent job and can make money somewhere else. This place needs to be on Restaurant Impossible.

We went several times because of coupon deals. Alas, it still wasn’t a deal! I live nearby and really wish I could promote a local merchant, but the food was never special or delicious and the atmosphere was often creepy. In fact, one of the two middle-Eastern brothers that operate this dive once sat down at our table and rambled senselessly as if he was the most interesting person in his little world, then began trying to charm my wife! So, these guys don’t understand Mexican OR American culture!

This is my son’s favorite restaurant. The food is good. The staff is attentive. The price is reasonable. Not sure what all the negative reviews are talking about. We’ve always had a great experience here.

I am re-writing this review as I recently learned that this establishment decided to delete my review form April 2013(pasted below). I am not an ex-employee or someone holding a grudge, I know horrible food/service and that is what I got that day at this restaurant. «The experience was equivalent to getting a balloon animal from a clown and having it pop in your face. I took my wife around 3PM on a weekday and were the only people there, the servers were too busy looking up instructions on how to refill tea on their iPhones while we waited for our food. The chips were tough and old… Salsa was ketchup water… Queso transformed my tounge into a ninja crimefighter because it was yellow mutagen. The shrimp entrée we ordered was not any better… basically Pedigree erasers boiled in sauce from what it seemed like. We did not finish our meal, simply payed the bill and left. I really wanted to like this place because we heard so much about it over the years… We expected chocolate ice cream and received malted mud cakes.»

Well I was apprehensive about going here as the reviews were not so great, but I thought what the hell the restaurant has been there forever and it’s close to home. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good not great but good. I had the flautas which I didn’t think were anything to talk about but my kids liked them and ate the rest. My son got tacos and my daughter got the taco salad, it was huge and delicious. I guess it’s not hard to make decent tacos or a salad. My husband had carne something or other but said the flavor of the meat was very good. The salsa was mediocre and the beers were ice cold. The sopapia(pretty sure I spelled that wrong) was great. Service was good, our waitress was very friendly and helpful, she seemed new as she didn’t know beer selection or menu items well. I would still rather go to Chuy’s but on a Saturday night with 3 kids I didn’t have to wait an hour or fight for parking in the highlands. With all that I will most likely return and try something else.

Great place for a peaceful lunch or dinner. Family friendly, clean. and service is exceptional. The food was very good as were the drinks. We went on a Sunday during brunch so we took advantage of their $ 10 all you can eat buffet. which includes enchiladas, beef and chicken fajitas, rice and beans, it was an excellent choice! The server was outstanding as were the rest of the staff, hostess, bartender and other waiters. We had Valerie waiting on us. Would definitely return.

Seriously this place is doomed to fail. Gross chips, canned salsa. Disgusting margaritas. And if that’s not bad enough the restrooms will make you lose your appetite. Nice set up but it’s pointless because they don’t understand they need quality to compete in this area. There prices aren’t even competitive and the food couldn’t have cost anything. Just an epic fail. Don’t expose your stomach to this waste of food.

This was a quiet little place. Food was good but not great. 3 people ate for less than $ 30. I would go back if we were hungry and in the area but wouldn’t go out of my way to go there. The enchilada reminded me of El Chico. The chile relleno was good but nothing special.

Nice & quaint. Enchiladas are the best. Margaritas are always good. Chips and salsa before the meal are awesome. Not sure why the rating is so low. Only reason for 4 stars is location.

I was disappointed in the food and the service. The charo beans were from a can. The people were nice, but food not so great. The bathrooms were rundown also. I probably won’t go back. I really wish it was better because the location is great.

This place is a great location, myself and the ladies I work with went here when we were all meeting right next door to go to Painting with a Twist(that’s why we came here). I don’t remember anything being that great to talk about. It was okay. I know since I now live down the street I’ll have to try it again, and especially not on a busy Friday night like before and see if some of the Menu items taste better than before.

I am honestly not sure why this place has such a low rating. This place has always been great for me! The food is delicious and good quality. The service is prompt and friendly. The owner is such a nice guy! Please do yourself a favor and give this place a try!

If I could give it less then one start I would! This place honestly deserves an episode on restaurant impossible! The beans are straight out of a can and they still taste funny the Chile rellano isn’t crispy at all its mushy and bland and tastes as though it was cooked three days earlier and served today. It’s awful at best and stomach turning and the only thing worse then the food is the décor. The floors are disgusting the tables have broken pieces on them there’s dust on the fake plants and tapestry that hangs from the ceiling looks like it’s been there for 18 years and never been washed. Do yourself a favor don’t go!

We had dinner on Christmas night here, it’s the worst Tex-mex I’ve ever had. The queso was not queso. Flautus were bad. Don’t waste your Money.

*First off I included an asterisk because my wife enjoys this place more than me. That being said, been here twice, service has not been good. First time, we had three different servers and were very unclear which one was our waiter/waitress. The second time, our server was A LOT better than anyone else had. When we were leaving, there was a couple getting up from their table headed to the bar trying to find their waiter from wherever he disappeared to. I can’t remember what I ate the first time, but it was decent enough for a second visit. So second visit I had the sour cream chicken enchiladas. They were bland. My wife had a combination meal with sour cream enchilada and chicken flauta. The best part of her dish was the flauta. The sopapillas were tasty and came dusted in sugar/cinnamon. The sopapillas were the best part of the meal. I’d rather eat at local place than a chain any day. I’m hoping the owner reads some of these reviews and makes some changes for the better. We moved to the area recently and would like a local mexican restaurant to eat at. For now, I think that Campo will get my business when m’lady and I have a craving for mexican food.

Café Acapulco has been in south Arlington for decades and I’ve never eaten there. I was in the area during lunch time, it was chilly, so it was the perfect day for TexMex. All I can say was that it was OK, not the best TexMex I’ve had but not the worse either. The restaurant is definitely dated and in need of a «face-lift». The salsa, for my taste, was a bit mild and«wimpy». I like a salsa with more«punch». I ordered the lunch special that included one cheese enchilada and one beef taco. Both items were OK. The rice was quite tasty. My server was extremely friendly and upbeat. I was impressed with the service she provided me. Will I return? Possibly if I’m in the area, but I wouldn’t make a special trip to visit the restaurant.
