For a city recreation center, this is pretty nice. There are several different types of machines that you can work out on. The weight room is small, but I can usually get on all of the equipment that I need. Equipment does break down, but they usually are quick to repair it. There are fun activities for children of all ages. I quit taking fitness classes for several reasons. I was in one class where the instructor yelled into her headset with a thick Southern drawl. I couldn’t understand what she was saying. In another class that was supposed to be designed for seniors, the instructor told us to do things that seniors should not do.(According to several physical therapists) All of the employees have been very polite. My favorite employee is Rosa.

Having just moved to the area; I called the Nelson rec center to inquire about how to get a logon id, what do I need to bring to setup an account to put my child in some of the activities since I just moved to the area. The lady answering the telephone, Rose, was so rude to me. I was kind and asked a question and all I received was attitude. This is not a good representation of the City of Arlington, therefore I reported her to the City of Arlington Rec Department. The person answering the phone is suppose to be kind to those calling no matter how many inquiries are received. I ended up going over to Odom Recreation Center, Referred by the City of Arlington, which was a breath of fresh air. At Elzie Odom Recreation Center the staff we’re kind enough to answer my question. I drove over the same day to sign my child up. I am sure not everyone at the Cliff Nelson Rec Ctr behaves in the manner of their front desk person. I am sure it’s probably a nice center. However, after being treated rudely over the phone for asking a simple question; I chose to not be a part of this location.

This is great place to work out! It had no pool but that’s ok it is clean and friendly. The morning crew are two great ladies, that help you out with whatever you need. You must have a membership in order to work out here, which means you must live in Arlington, or the surrounding areas. So if you do it is very minimum, and you must pay a monthy dues depending on what you want to do, whether it be weights, yoga martial arts or all of the above. I just love it here and I know you will too.
