I was only here for one night, but must say for the price of a DC hotel, I was very impressed. My room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. I enjoyed the Fresh Kitchen, the snack area, and the Pub for socializing. They offer a shuttle. It is supposed to run every 15 to 30 minutes. I had a long wait st the airport, so we paid for a taxi, but my return to the airport via the shuttle was a great experience. All of the staff were friendly and helpful! I would stay here again.

Combining free and frequent shuttles to the metro and airport, a sports bar/restaurant and gym with a low price this Holiday Inn is a great value. The weekend I booked, the hotel was completely sold out. I asked to change my reservation from a single to double and the front desk accommodated my request. My room was quiet and clean. I only wish each room had a microwave.

This particular Holiday Inn pick was one of those«just need a place to stay since we’ll be away most of the time.» But I was really surprised by a bunch of the things I noticed. Pros: — Really close to Reagan National Airport with shuttle service. — 10 to 15 minute walk to the Metro — Proximity to restaurants and convenience stores is excellent — again within a 10 – 15 minute walk. Cons: — Rooms are clean, but need help with an update or maintenance. The bathrooms are on the small side. What really irked me were the crooked toilets and faucets. Water pressure in the shower was good, but the shower curtain needed a cleaning or replacement. I would’ve opted with replacement since part of the curtain was being held together with a safety pin. The towels need to be rotated more or replaced since they felt pretty rough when used. — The heating/cooling unit is pretty loud. — The shuttle customer service definitely needs more work. There are two shuttles available and for our stay it seemed that one was dedicated to the airport and the other to the metro. My first example, we were going to take one to the Metro and waited outside for the driver to come back, as we saw a shuttle idling in the driveway. Asked the driver if he was going to the Metro and was told no along with, «Why didn’t you get on the Metro one, it just left a second ago.» The comment was pretty condescending as if we were at fault for something, on top of me actually standing outside for 10 minutes before he came back knowing that there was no shuttle that had just left. The second example, one driver dropped us off away from the Metro entrance saying there was no way for him to get close due to construction. Pretty confusing since another driver was able to pull up to the entrance just fine. The third example occurred when we got off the metro and called the front desk to request for a pickup. The front desk stated 15 minute wait. Another couple close by apparently called too for the same thing. 30 minutes went by before the shuttle arriving after another call(they stated 5 more minutes). After boarding, the shuttle then diverted to drop off someone at a mall about half a mile away(passing the hotel along the way). Pretty disconcerting since a bunch of hotel customers had waited with us and we’re trying to get back to the hotel at the same time to make flights. Recommendations: — Would stay here again because of the convenience and rates especially if it’s for an event or business where you’re away most of the time. If you’re in town for vacation definitely stay somewhere else. — Plan accordingly with your time if you’re going to rely on their shuttle service. When you’re working with a schedule you might have to rely on walking to the Metro or calling for cabs/Ubers.

Absolutely the worse hotel I have ever stayed at. Filthy when we checked in, found dirty clothes left in room. Roaches, ants and a mouse. Yes a mouse ran out of the closet. I didn’t stay the night checked out after telling the front desk and they wouldn’t refund charges even though I didn’t stay. I have never in all my years traveling seen a Holiday inn this bad.

If I could give this hotel 0 stars I surely would! For starters, I will repeat other reviewers in saying that the fire alarm is broken here. It woke me up at 6am on the first day of my trip. The second and third days of my trip were rudely started by the maid trying to come into my room with the security bar closed regardless of whether the do not disturb sign was out or not. To add insult to injury, the bathroom had mold in it, the free internet is worse than my grandmother’s DSL, and I waited at the metro station for 20 minutes after calling the hotel to have a shuttle sent to me. I stayed at this hotel about a year ago and it was much better then. They actually had a pool then(instead of having unadvertised shuttle service to another hotel), and the prices were much cheaper then. There were so many hidden fees with this hotel that I will not be staying here again. They charged me $ 16 a day to park my car in they very tiny parking garage. Parking was $ 10 for the entire stay before. I have also stayed at the Hyatt Regency across the street and now that they have free wifi, I think they will be my next choice when I need to book a hotel in Crystal City.

One of the worst hotels near the airport. Roof leaks, alarm system will go off for no reason at all, front desk staff does not handle controversy well. Water pressure was horrible and sometimes you were not able to get any water at all until someone else near you stopped using water. The restaurants have decent food but not enough staff so you have very long wait times. I would never stay here again.

Staying here and embarrassed by the service just experienced fire alarm goes off all hours for past few days and the staff doesn’t even apologize for the inconvenience it causes hundreds of guest some with disabilities going down 1011 flights of stairs and the staff responds general manager be here tomorrow no sorry no explanation clearly false alarm as the screeching alarm echos instant headaches and ears ringing… Some have come so accustomed to the false alarms that they walk through the evacuated crowds onto a elevator again staff said nothing as gold IHG member I am appalled at the lack of concern service and overall empathy to those impacted not once but many times! Not staying here again and looking for another location to check on out hopefully one of these times some one doesn’t ignore the alarms only for it to be a real life threatening situation!!!

I will say that my husband did a good job booking this hotel for the price he did, $ 95 through booking. I have seen other posters say they’ve paid as much as $ 300 per night for a stay, shop around its not worth that price. The rooms here are ok, they’re comfortable and«almost» clean. There was a chewed piece of gum lying on the floor of our room, near the old air conditioning. Ew. Hotel could use some upgrades, the bathrooms, televisions and beds are old. The worst part was the horrible vomit in the elevator entrance. Truly disgusting. I wish parking was free for guests. $ 16 per day

WHITEPEOPLENOTWELCOME I had an immediate positive impression of this hotel given its location next to McDonald’s, Dollar/Thrifty Rental Car, CVS and 23rd Street dining. I didn’t even change my impression of the hotel when I witnessed a major brawl inside Crystal City Sports Pub within 1 hour of my arrival in DC(not the hotel’s fault, right?). But things soon spiraled downhill. MANAGEMENT — During the morning, I mostly saw business-type or airline personnel in the lobby who were predominately white. In the late evening, it was more young people who were predominately black. This was a prelude to the events on the evening of Friday February 8. At about 1130PM, I ventured outside to get a sugar fix at CVS. When I came back, there was a gentleman in a suit flirting with several young women at the far(right) elevator at their 3 elevator bank. After about 10 seconds, their elevator opened up, but the women didn’t get inside. Instead, they kept the door open and continued the flirtation of the gentleman. This prevented another elevator from being called to the ground floor. After about 30 seconds, I asked the gentleman if he worked at the hotel and he seemed upset that I had interrupted him. He said«Yes». Then I told him to stop flirting with the women so I could get an elevator, that he should not engage hotel guests at the detriment of others and that I really didn’t care if he flirted with anyone, but I just wanted to get back to my room. At that point, the man aggressively approached me and got right in my face. I told him he was invading my personal space and that he was being overly aggressive(I felt as if I was being challenged to a fight). He said that that was«his way» of doing business and if I didn’t like it, I could leave. I asked if he was the hotel manager and he said yes. I asked why he didn’t wear a name tag like all the other employees and he laughed at me. I asked his name and he said«Jay». Then the women at the elevator started yelling at me that I could ride in the elevator with them(they had been watching us instead of going about their business). I told them I wanted my own elevator. The manager told me he didn’t like my attitude and again(more directly) threatened to kick me out of the hotel. Now, since I had prepaid for my hotel with Orbitz and did not feel I could get a reasonable rate at another hotel in this area on short notice, I bit my tongue, but informed the manager that he was way out of line and completely overreacting. Finally my elevator came and I got in. I swiped my room key and went to my floor. When I got to my room, my room key didn’t work anymore. How? I had just swiped it in the elevator. I surmised that the manager had deactivated my key on my way to my room. Then went back down to the lobby. At this point, the manager«Jay» had gathered up all the people in the lobby into a congregation in front of the front desk and was preaching to them en mass. It was a bit surreal to see. Then one lady turned to me and snarled, «You came back to apologize, right?» I couldn’t believe that the manager was poisoning these people’s minds with his perspective. The I head the manager tell them that he’s «not an Uncle Tom» and that he’s «a man, not a boy». Then it hit me(like a ton of bricks). This was all racially motivated. You see, everyone in the lobby, the women at the elevator, the front desk staff and the manager were black and I’m white. So the only logical reason I could want to go to my room was because I’m a racist… or maybe the manager’s immediate aggressive tone, stance, reaction and threats we due to a white man telling him how to do his job(rightly so) and he didn’t want to look weak in front of a room full of black people. Look, I’m from California, I’m not used to this. Maybe this is business as usual in VA/DC, but I’ve only experienced this once before… in South Africa. Now I had a problem. In order to get my key, I had to give my room number to the desk clerk and show ID and I didn’t want the angry mob knowing who I was or what my room number was. I felt very vulnerable. Eventually I made it back to my hotel room and tried to call IHG(Holiday Inn parent) headquarters, but they closed their customer service line at 12AM and it was not 1215AM. I went to bed with an uneasy feeling. At 7AM I called their customer service. Though the representative was attentive to my narrative, I really didn’t get resolution. She offered to move me to another«property», but that they only had Holiday inn’s in Arlington that were not near my conference and being that I was new to DC and did not know public transportation, I thought this a bad idea. Later, I found out that there is a Crowne Plaza in Crystal City, but this was not made aware to me and I felt abandoned. I stayed in the hotel another 3 nights. But I was very wary. Trust had gone out the window. I began making notes about the hotel. Review truncated due to size.

$ 300 a night is not bad for the area but My rooms air conditioner doesn’t work, direct TV doesnt have signal, that the fire alarm went off at 9:20pm for no apparent reason, the food delivered to my room was undercooked/raw in the middle, the free complimentary internet sucks… Well… You get were I’m going with this…(And althought i understand that emergencies do happen, like fires, but it would have been nice to know what was actually going on…) Do not expect your typically positive holiday inn experience in this hotel… Its not going to happened… My room was clean, but it doesnt look like a holiday inn room. This was the only hotel available close to the airport with the most affordable rate… I’m giving them 1 star because their staff is so nice, customer service is excellent…

Recently stayed here for one night with my boyfriend, and boy were we dismayed. We booked the room through Expedia based on its reasonable pricing during a busy tourist period(the Cherry Blossom festival) and had high expectations since we’ve both had positive experiences with Holiday Inns in other areas in the past. We arrived at around noon and decided to check in, although we understood the official check in time was at 4pm. When we approached the counter, the clerk asked for the last name used for our reservations. We kindly asked if there was a chance that a room was ready — something we always ask clerks whenever we arrive early, since hotels often have extra rooms already cleaned and are happy to get you settled. As she was looking it up, another guest came up from behind us and she decided to help him with his check in while she was still checking us in! She literally started a conversation with him about his flight while we were just standing there — I was floored. She then asked for our name a second time and instructed us to sit in the lobby and wait for her to complete the search. We waited for 15 minutes before re-approaching the counter. We would have been fine if no room was ready — we just wanted a response so that we could get lunch and continue our day. Our clerk was busy with other guests so we approached a different clerk. Our clerk then came over and acknowledged that she had forgotten to check if a room was available. She then asked for our name a THIRD time. At this point, my boyfriend and I were extremely frustrated, as the check in process did not need to take so long and the clerk had clearly decided other guests and matters were of greater importance. To top it all off, after we received our room keys, none of the clerks said anything remotely close to «Hope you have a wonderful stay!» or gave us any information about the hotel amenities or local area. I have NEVER encountered such poor service, as every other hotel I’ve been to has always made me feel welcomed and valued. Simple manners honestly would have been greatly appreciated. We thought it couldn’t get any worse, but we were wrong. Our room was small and the bathroom seemed particularly outdated. Since we were staying for only one night, however, we didn’t mind too much. After a tiring day spent touring, we came back to the room and noticed a folded yellow-colored towel near the tub and realized the shower was leaking, as someone had left the towel to soak it up. We grabbed a separate towel off the rod to place over the leak and the rod flew off. The towel rod literally FLEWOFF. We were in shock and called the front desk right away. They placed us in a new room down the hall. Although we were pleased with the quick handling of the situation, we were beyond frustrated at this point, as it became clear to us that the hotel’s clerks needed fresh training in customer service, and the hotel, itself, needed physical renovations. If you’re looking for a cheap room with a bed to sleep on for the night, this is it. But in terms of providing a quality stay with clean, up-to-date rooms and personnel who warmly greet you and treat you like a valued guest, this Holiday Inn seriously disappoints. Unfortunately, we do not intend to return for another stay any time soon.

The rooms were decent. My room was clean, not quite spotless but good enough. The breakfast options were limited, but there was a restaurant which was good. The staff was mainly friendly. The biggest downfall of my experience was the fact that the hotel was not close to the metro. There was a shuttle available however, the shuttle driver one morning was rude and not happy to be there. I had asked to go to the metro, and he made a smart remark in an arrogant tone«what’s that?» It took 5minutes before he gave in and filled in the blanks. I didn’t know the specific name of the stop of the metro closest to the hotel, and that is what he expected me to say. Anyways other than that, my overall experience was fine. I’d probably not stay at this location again however, if there were no other options, I wouldn’t be too upset.

The rooms are average, but comfortable. However, I was drawn by the convenience and friendly atmosphere of O’Malley’s Pub in the lobby. Guinness on tap and a tasty Guinness stew were quite welcoming in the chilly weather. Excellent conversation with the barkeeper, Chris, and the regulars that pass through. Should my travels bring me back to this area, I would certainly come back to visit the pub.

Chose expedia unnamed and got this hotel. The room is but only ok, like other holiday inns. There is no fridge in my room. The vent in the bathroom is very loud, and you can never get the right water temperature– either icy or too hot. Wifi is very fast anyway. The air conditioner is old and noisy. It just feels like a two star express hotel. A tip is that if you want to get to the hotel from the airport by shuttle, you need to call, otherwise you might wait for an hour. The lotion offered by the hotel is used. I attach a picture under my review. If you can afford 15 bucks more, I will suggest residence inn. Not gonna choose it again.

I was lucky that the Holiday Inn National airport shuttle arrived within minutes of my arrival to the curb. I have been here many times before as you can see from my prior reviews dating back to 2011. I stayed here this past Thursday night for $ 216. As you can see from my pics I was quite pleased with my room. All the downtown hotels were more than $ 300. This was the least expensive hotel in Crystal City. I like this hotel because I usually walk to the Crystal City metro or you can take their complimentary shuttle service. When I checked into my room #1116 I was disappointed to learn that complimentary breakfast is no longer included for platinum members. I was disappointed not to receive my usual complimentary breakfast. I did not receive any other compensation to offset such a change in practice. I will take this into consideration the next time I visit DC in November. There are so many other good hotels in the Crystal City area as you can see from my other reviews. Check out my pics from my most recent stays here at this hotel.

I stayed here while helping to chaperone a group of 8th graders on a school trip. The hotel is old and needs remodeling but it serves its purpose for a student tour group. The showers, however, have great water pressure! The staff is friendly and helpful and the fitness room was pretty nice. I only had meals that were served to the kids and they were not great but again, it might be different if you order off the menu. Since the school paid, I don’t know how much rooms cost.

Never before have I been so torn in opinion when writing a review…*cue dramatic drumroll* All joking aside, this Holiday Inn has definitely left me with a mixed opinion. Let me start at the beginning: a family member and I recently stayed at this hotel during a trip to D.C. Our first impression was that this place was absolutely excellent. The rooms were clean and cozy, and we found the staff there the weekend we arrived to be very friendly and accommodating. There was a diner and pub connected to the hotel’s lobby. Their garage was very easy to access(I bring this up since a different Holiday Inn in D.C. required us to check our car in and out every time we wanted to drive somewhere, which we did not enjoy doing). Heck, I even found myself sleeping soundly here, which I normally don’t do in any hotel. What really made us happy at first during our stay were the shuttles here. Any guest here has essentially paid to use the hotel’s shuttle services to the airport and to the metro, and they’ll pick you up from those places as well. So each day we’d ride in the shuttle to the metro and go into the city. The first night of our stay, they were there to pick us up from our stop within minutes of calling for a shuttle. It was a fantastic arrangement. The last day of our stay was where we hit a big bump in our otherwise blissful experience. Our shuttle driver dropped us off at the airport metro station, telling us to come back to the same spot he dropped us off at when we came back; so later that night we did just that, and called the hotel asking to be picked up. It took 45 minutes of waiting and three or four repeated phone calls for us to find out that we had to go down another level to be picked up. No once did the person we were calling at the front desk explain this to up, and as a result the poor shuttle driver actually LEFT the airport without us the first time he drove out. As if this weren’t bad enough, after taking an hour to just get back to our room after a long day in the city our frustrations mounted even higher when we tried to get into our room only to discover our room keys died, forcing us to limp back downstairs on our very sore feet to get them replaced… yet again; during our entire trip, our keys died and had to be re-magnetized repeatedly. And I know it had absolutely nothing to do with us storing them near phones or anything like that, because two or three times we would find out that we had a defective key that had literally JUST been given to us 60 seconds earlier at the front desk. I don’t know why this kept happening, but it was supremely frustrating. Combined with the super long wait at the airport, and this last night of our stay left us with a bad taste in our mouths. I do think that overall this is a nice hotel with plenty of good things going for it, such as its location and the fact that the shuttle drivers all had a wonderful attitude and were incredibly helpful. And we had absolutely nothing wrong with our rooms or anything of that nature. But the fact that the front desk did so little to help us and to clarify where we had to go to be picked up on that last night, combined with our repeated room key problems, is definitely something we’ll be keeping in mind the next time we’re choosing a hotel.
