My experience with Dr. Harley has been nothing but fantabulous and my hair is healthy. I am very happy. like a room without a roof!!!

Terrible service! Schedule an appt walked in for it and was told I couldn’t be seen after an hour an a half drive from Baltimore because the person who scheduled me gave me the wrong information! No one attempted to call me and let me know or anything! Absolutely unprofessional and out of hand! I wish Mr. Harley himself had been there! I don’t believe he would have let this happen. At any rate they will not be getting an business from me and I will make sure that anyone I know that asks about them knows they are not the place to go if you want to be treated like a respectable paying customer.

I’m not quick to give a 5 star rating, but Keith earns a perfect score. I started going to him when a well-​meaning stylist over-​processed my hair with heat and relaxers, making my thick, coarse hair brittle and weak.
I work out a lot, so it’s really difficult to keep my locks tame. Some stylists just want to get it bone straight, which looks great but isn’t great for my hair. Others wet set it which is great for my hair but the tight curls make me look like a brown Benjamin Franklin. Keith wet sets it on big rollers with some concoction that makes my thick hair soft, straight, and flowing! Win Win!
Keith is truly talented — a scientist, a stylist, and an entertainer — he’s serious about hair, but he definitely provides much needed comic relief after a long day at work. Most of his customers are professionals, no children running around, and the salon is always clean. When you walk in, there’s a Keurig style coffee maker for your coffee, flat screen TVs on the wall, and a beautiful welcoming face to greet you. You are draped in a black robe so your clothes don’t get wet or stained and you are IMMEDIATELY seen.
Unlike other salons, Keith gets you in and out — you are on his time and he will take wonderful care of you. It’s really amazing how he and his staff provide so much personalized attention but keep the traffic of long locks, perfectly trimmed short styles, unbeweavable weaves, clean tight cornrows, etc., flowing so there’s no waiting and the experience is enjoyable.
At my initial consultation, Keith sat down with me, studied my hair, asked me questions, and explained the science of hair — just because I have thick coarse hair doesn’t mean it should be fried, dyed, and laid to the side every 4 – 6 weeks. He works with cancer patients and people with real hair issues. He’s professional and results-​oriented.
Usually, when you want healthy hair, you have to give up style. Not with Keith — he focuses on the health of your hair but also sends everyone out looking like they are headed for the red carpet. He uses Design Essentials products which are totally awesome. Stylists have to get a lot of training to use them, and I’ve always had great luck with those who do. He also uses his own personally formulated products with great results. He’s not cheap, but it’s money well spent.
Keith also styles for the particular client. He knows your comfort level, he knows what your mate wants to see. ;)
I’ve been working out quite a bit and washing my hair daily for the last couple of weeks so I came in today looking like Ms. Celie from the Color Purple. When I left, my shoulder-​length hair was soft, silky, and swinging like Beyonce’s. He trimmed and styled it different than my norm and assured me my hubby would love it. He was soooooooooo right!!! THANK YOU KEITH!!!
Keith is simply awesome! I highly recommend this salon.

Was looking for a place in the DMV where I could be a regular and spend my considerable beauty budget… left a message to schedule an appt. and was never called back!
Went to Bo26 instead (who actually picked up the phone!) and THEY got a regular customer out of it!

I am constantly on the lookout for a great stylist (black hair stylist) and surprisingly they are hard to find in DC! Isn’t this chocolate city? ha ha Anyway, I stand by my love of Rasheen at BO26… but I have also found a new love right outside of DC… in Arlington. His name is Keith Harley and he owns the Keith Harley Salon, Hair & Scalp Clinic, and can I tell you… this man is fierce! LOVE HIM! He has a cute little spot in Arlington where they practice superior customer service and he just has a fabulous personality. I didn’t have to wait and he listened to what I wanted and the results were great! If you live in VA, and don’t feel like driving to DC to get your hair done… try this salon.
Oh, and I have to mention that when he washes and conditions your hair… he really massages your scalp! I was so relaxed, there may have been some drooling! ha ha Check it out for yourself!
