So I decided to try this food truck coz it’s accepting cc. I ordered chicken and beef quesadilla, the taste was great except the breading that’s thick. It was fulfilling and it was only $ 3 each. Would try other ones on the menu next time I come back.

If you see the Tingeria truck BUYSOMEFOOD! They are some of the best(if not, THE best) tacos I’ve ever had. Not only that, I can get a whole lunch for less than $ 6 — their prices are the best of any food truck or take out place of been to — it’s actually fair pricing! The food speaks for itself but the customer service is also among the best I’ve ever had. On two occasions I’ve gotten either a free drink or a free bag of chicharrones on the house. Today I got a free mexican soda — they are just so nice and really care about the food they serve and the service their customers get. I hardly ever write reviews but I make it a point to get lunch every Wednesday from the truck when it’s parked on N Pierce street so I felt they deserved a 5 star review. Keep up the amazing work La Tingeria!

Had their tostadas at a pop up at Flash in DC. So delicious! Probably best Mexican food I’ve had in the DC area in awhile. So fresh and the salsa verde is amazing! Definitely going stop by their food truck soon!

First time today, tried two«pambazo»(?) sandwiches which were delicious. Got one«mixto»(chorizo and beef) and one with the tinga chicken, both with avocado/lettuce/cilantro/salsa/sour cream/tomatoes. There were potatoes in there too. The guys were extremely nice in explaining everything to me, and when they forgot my second sandwich, they actually honked to alert me as I drove away and gave me a free tres leches sponge cake dessert for my trouble. The sandwiches are really messy but they include plenty of napkins and a fork to grab the spillage. Four stars only because the menu was small today(only the sandwich, which was $ 9, no tacos) and there isn’t any seating anywhere, although if you go to the nearest cross street north f the truck and make a left, there’s a covered picnic area at a park that was perfect for eating outside on a 65 degree December day :) will definitely be back to try the other options(they’re permanently at the Courthouse St location, M-F, 11:00 — 3:00, expanding soon to 8 pm). Thanks for the good eats and great service fellas!

This just might be my favorite food truck. Their chicken tinga is EVERYTINGA!(insert heart emoji) The guys behind the wheel are incredibly nice and your food is ready pretty quickly. They are currently only open for lunch(11−3pm) during the week, but hopefully will begin serving extended hours — perhaps sooner if they get enough feedback from customers ;)

Almost missed experiencing the food bc of the Cash Only sign. Luckily, my coworker loaned me enough to try them out! I got a tinga beef quesadilla, tinga quesadilla, and chorizo sopes! Everything was fresh and homemade! It was tasty and it didn’t take long for me to get my order. The guys worker were very friendly and gave me suggestions as well! I wasn’t a big fan of the breading because it was kind of thick but it was still good! At $ 3 per item, I will be back to try them again. I’ll be sure to have cash on hand.

So delicious, and so reasonably priced. My all time favorite food truck. The sopes with Tinga chicken are a great lunch. Thick corn tortilla on the bottom, fried just crispy enough to allow you to pick the whole thing up. Spicy but not *too* spicy. Queso fresco and crema… Drool… One(for three bucks!) is a light lunch, and two are a solid lunch without making you feel like you need to nap the rest of the afternoon. If only they had diet coke, they would have achieved perfection.

I only had the tostados but they were excellent. The crunch of the tostado mixes well with the lettuce, crema, and chicken/beef. Each tostado comes with a generous helping of chicken and beef and meat is slightly spicy with great flavor. The service is excellent and with the Unilocal $ 5 for $ 10 special, the price is excellent.

A year later… STILLAMAZING. My only bit of constructive criticism doesn’t have to do with the food – it would be AWESOME if they started offering plastic utensils. Seriously, eating this food results in flavorful juices running down your hands and delicious cheese and sauce all over your face. Utensils could ameliorate that problem. (Thankfully, my colleagues don’t judge me based on my graceless eating, but I think they would be happy if they didn’t have to see my face covered in food.)

La Tingeria to the rescue! It was a beautiful Friday, and I was on my lunch break in Ballston. The first food truck I went to advertised chicken sandwiches with chicken cut from a spit. I was excited at this, and got it. Turned out it was a scam, the chicken was just baked chicken tenderloins, zero flavor, the bread wasn’t even toasted, and I chucked it out. There are some food trucks that I consider scams, this one was one of them, it was the blandest chicken sandwich I have ever had for $ 8, anyone could have made a better sandwich, even someone who has never cooked before. So there was my dilemma, I had part of a sandwich, but didn’t want to get a second lunch and be a fatty. Here comes La Tingeria, I’ve had it before, but have not bothered to review it yet. They have Sopes, Tingas, and a variety of other dishes for only $ 3. For $ 3, it’s also pretty loaded, filling, and most importantly, tasty! You can customize the size of your meal, for $ 3 it’s something that’s light, $ 6 for filling, and $ 9 if you are ready to eat a cow. $ 6 Two of the above would be enough to fill me up, but since I already had a partial lunch, one was more than enough. So I got just a sope, it’s a handmade tortilla while I don’t believe the others are, I always stick to homemade! Even though I had only two bites of my other sandwich, it was more than enough. The diced beef was delicious, it reminds me of diced beef you get out in the West Coast, it’s authentic, juicy, and has that nice steak taste. The pureed black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese on top all round out a very tasty sope. The ingredients are all fresh as well, this isn’t cheap ingredients you are getting here. They put it together real nice and with heart, so you get a very tasty looking dish. I put on their homemade salsa as well, and it gives it a nice kick for a nice fresh and tasty dish. Shout out to the staff there as well, they are super nice and a class act. They represent the food truck businesses well!

I ordered a beef tinga taco, and it was A-OK(until I felt sick afterwards, hence the 2 star review). Their tinga isn’t the most flavorful, but it was just the right texture. They fill up the taco quite a bit with lettuce and condiments and it’s a decent size. One or two tacos will fill you up(instead of having to buy three). Thier tortillas and tingas are store bought. They’ve spiked up their price from $ 2.50 to $ 3.00 and I’m not sure I agree with that! The staff are really nice and you tell that they put a lot of care into their food.

La Tingeria by David Pena is by far the best food truck in Arlington! This kid has worked for with some of the best chefs in the area for years. It’s no wonder, he’s using his skills to bring his interpretation of Authentic Mexican street fare, to Arlingtonians at lunch time. I can’t tell if it’s the cilantro, onions or marinade but his food is incredible! Stop by either Rosslyn, Courthouse or Ballston areas of N. Arlington(orange line) during the week, to get some of his REAL Mexican food at prices that can’t be beat(most items are $ 2.50!). Get there early though, this tattoo-covered culinary prodigy’s truck is highly sought after, and the line gets long fast! So do yourself a favor, support this local guy and have an amazing lunch. He’s on Twitter and Facebook, that’s how I find him. Oh yea, I forgot to mention I drive from NWDC to get my tinga, taco and tamale fix at least twice a week! DAVY, YOUDAMAN, BRAH! Thank you and keep up the great work!

I cannot complain, I was a bit confused initially with the quesadilla and I promptly went back to the truck to get an explanation(I ordered a vegetarian one — had I know the consistency and style of the quesadilla I would have definitely included meat) however overall it was filled with onions but I ate it, I am sure my coworkers will thank me — I will most likely not order the vegie one again My Chorizo taco — simply amazing, just the right amount of flavor and heat — I typically order carne asada tacos but I will start adding chorizo to my personal choice as well. It’s my new favorite. The chicken taco was good not my favorite simply because I am still stuck on the chorizo — but to be fair to the chicken, the meat was shredded, it had a hint of smoke and was very delicious. Overall: For price, value and quality La Tingeria gets 4 stars

I agree with what one other reviewer said… the tinga was good but the rest of it… pretty average. The tinga’s construction starts with a store-bought tostada(basically a large nacho) then topped with their marinated, shredded chicken(or chorizo or beef brisket) and whatever you want… I added lettuce, cilantro, onion, and queso fresco, along with their homemade hot sauce. It was good, but you must eat immediately or the tostada gets soaked by the chicken juices and becomes mushy(kind of wished the chicken was drained). I also wanted to try other items on the menu in hopes of making my decision easier for the next time they roll through Rosslyn… So I also ordered the chorizo sope, one chicken, and one beef brisket taco. A sope is like a thick tortilla made of corn meal and flour… reminds me of a fried tomale… it should be slightly crunchy on the outside and soft and pliable inside. However, I do not think the sope from La Tingeria was cooked all the way and it could not stand up to the stuffing inside and basically fell apart all over the place. That said, the beans inside were nicely seasoned the meat and add-ins(same as those added to the tinga) were good. The tacos were just ok… The corn tortillas were not cooked so they just fell apart right in my hand(straining the shredded meat would have helped as well). Both the chicken and beef were pretty salty, you definitely need a large glass of water in arm’s reach while eating these. Overall, definitely worth checking out. The guys that run the truck are very polite and friendly and the food will definitely satisfy. My recommendation… Order two tingas… they’re large and filling and taste great, as long as you can eat them before they get too soggy!

A coworker recommended I go try this. I am very happy she did as it was delicious(I did check the Unilocal reviews though and saw the reviews were legit)! One review was way off… someone said not to get the elotes… wrong! It is freaking delicious. I had to keep looking around and make sure no one was watching me eat because it was embarrassing. Anyway, I also ordered the sopes with carnitas. The carnitas had great flavor and were so tender and juicy. I also ordered the tinga with the shredded beef. The chipotle really rings through in this item. I also asked for hot sauce on this item and it had a really nice kick. All in all this is an outstanding food truck. I love Mexican food but I am very picky and this truck definitely delivers! For less than $ 8 I am stuffed. If I was not at work it would be nap time. Next time I need to try the chorizo.

For street vendor food, this place is as good as they come. Recently started a new job in the city and luckily my office is located a block away from a Food Truck hangout spot. Trying to decide what to get for lunch one day, I noticed this truck with the only line amongst 4 other trucks. Tried the Sopes and the Tinga and they were both awesome. No idea what Sopes and Tinga mean but essentially i got an open faced taco on fried tostada or corn tortilla and you eat it like a pizza. They are only 2.50 a pop and i ate 3 and was plenty satisfied. If you see this truck around, you have got to give a try, its definitely worth a go.

Updating these guys to five stars. The owner and his crew continue to innovate and improve at every opportunity. Food is always consistently good, inexpensive, and quickly prepared. A new truck as been procured recently and nice touches like an awning during rainy days and now a space heater as the weather gets colder ensures that customers are comfortable while waiting for the latest delicious offerings from La Tingeria. Keep up the great work La Tingeria!
