Best Deal in Ballston! Have lived in both the Library Courts apartment and the adjacent building 1020 N Quincy for over two years now and have had a fantastic experience. The 1020 N Quincy apartments were recently renovated and are absolutely stunning inside. Anyone who views the apartments can tell that the renovations were done with care and quality, unlike most apartments in the area the walls are well insulated and painted! From what I’ve heard the company is also updating the Library Courts apartments which I am sure will be equally as beautiful. Tenets of both buildings are very friendly, making this a great community to be apart of. Management has also made numerous upgrades over the years, including moving to an online payment system for rent. The staff is very friendly and reliable. The few maintenance requests we have made for normal wear and tear are handled in a timely and professional manner. Lastly, the location is absolutely unbeatable. The apartments are located in a safe yet vibrant part of Arlington, walking distance to restaurants but off the main street so you do not experience the sound of loud traffic.

Very inhospitable! I drove to Arlington to visit a friend who lives here. Management wanted to charge me $ 10 per night for a permit to park in their parking lot. I was staying 6 nights. Instead, I dropped my disabled husband at the front door as I went looking for street parking. Also, to use the pool each person on the lease gets one guest and anymore must pay $ 5 per day to use the pool. This place obviously does not like or want«guests».

During my time at Library Courts, I have found management to be extremely unorganized and unreliable. The other reviews are correct, they come into your apartment without notice and often. They don’t send announcements via email but post them in the elevator for a day or two at a time. I don’t use the elevator so a lot of their new policies take me by surprise. We were told at one point that plants are considered«personal storage» and are not allowed on patio/balcony areas. Why is a plant harmful or inappropriate in an outdoor space? To me, a lot of the rules implemented at LC are the attempt to make the property profit more or run more smoothly, but in reality, they need to reevaluate the staff. Prices are reasonable but look elsewhere if you are looking for customer service.

I visited today because I heard their rates were so reasonable, and they are. I climbed 7 steep steps to get to the leasing office. I asked if there was handicap accessibility and was told no, everyone has to climb the steps. That means Library Courts and the building next door(1020) are both out of compliance with the law(ADA). Hm-m. I wonder what else their buildings are not in compliance with. Considering when it was built it is not well kept. The carpets are suspect as to cleanliness — they are a dingy brown. The wood floors mean constant dusting. There is a creepy feeling about all the apartments. It looks as though they were designed by somebody from the 1950s. The leasing agent took more time chatting with the other leasing agent than with me the customer. I haven’t even moved in yet and they are rude at the beginning. It wont get better. They can keep their price. I think a management company should take care of their building and their tenants.

I lived at Library Courts for almost five years. The first four years were nice and I didn’t really have any complaints at all. The lady that worked at the desk was very friendly and helpful and generally very good at her job. Sometime in mid-2011, she left and things changed. The people who sat in the building next door(run by the same management company) eventually moved over to Library Courts after months of the desk sitting empty. I paid rent on time every month for my entire tenure there and never had any real problems but still managed to have a bunch of issues once the front desk staff changed. If you ask a question five times, you’ll get five different answers. They change the rules all the time and put the important notices in the elevator for two days instead of under people’s doors, where they’re guaranteed to see it. They find a way to be in your apartment all the time, whether it’s the constant pest inspections, changing filters, or whatever else they can think of. One of the women has no time to talk to anyone and when she does, she’s snippy and annoyed. Half the time the office is open, there’s no one at the desk. No one answers the phone and they rarely return messages. The building itself is fine and it’s a real steal if you’re in one of the three person one bedroom apartments(is this even legal??) but otherwise, it’s nothing special other than the location. The management is the problem here.
