The food is horrible, cold and disgusting. Delivery takes hours and the pizza and subs we ordered were impossible to eat since they were almost frozen cold. Chicken wings had some blood in them. When I called them, I was hung up on.

My girlfriend ordered 2 subs here in a pinch and they were horrible. My Italian sub bun was soaked by the oil and wet tomatoes. The thing was almost flavorless too. Meat, cheese, veggies on bread shouldn’t be that hard… She got a roast beef sub and it was also soggy. She had 2 bites and couldn’t continue. For $ 14 you would expect a lot more, right? Maybe Maria should just stick with making pizza.

I’ve been getting food here for several weeks now and everything has been very good. They are clean, friendly and service is great. I am happy and I highly recommend them.

I can’t even begin to describe how bad this place has gotten. I’ve been ordering here FORYEARS — its the first place I tried out when I moved to Arlington 8 years ago, and I have been a loyal customer since. For the past few months my experience has gotten exponentially worse to the point that I have given up all hope. First, their online system is terrible. I have ordered at least 3 pizzas with incorrect toppings because the online system«moved» my checked box to another column. That solution is simple — just call instead. So, I started going with my low-tech solution in order to get the great food I love. The person answering the phone is clearly not the same. My friendly, happy, accommodating voice has been replaced by a rushed, slightly annoyed one. My delivery guy — who used to be one of my favorite people in the whole world — has been replaced by a driver that looks like I’m asking him to pull out his fingernails to deliver my food. Okay, so service has slipped. It’s still a pizza sub shop with food I love, so I’ll deal. And then the food changed — pizza that is burnt on the bottom with inedible crust and cut so badly it can’t break apart and when it does, one slice is half the pizza and the other is a sliver. My BLT sub came with two slices of bacon, the fries are stale and steak size now instead of shoestring, the steak tip salad is now nothing but lettuce and four/five sad small pieces of burnt meat, and the burger, oh the burger. The signature Maria’s burger was delivered to me on UNTOASTEDWHITEBREAD. As in sandwich bread. The kind you use for peanut butter not a quarter pounder. It was by far the most disappointing, sad thing I have ever witnessed. I’m sorry to say, that was the last straw and there is no coming back from that. This place has changed hands for the worse — please venture elsewhere!

The pizza is good and the people are fun. I don’t have much else to say but Unilocal wants me to keep writing so… I guess I’ll remind you that the pizza was tasty and the guys there made me a pizza of half of each of their specialty pizzas which I assumed they wouldn’t do.

I’ve been ordering here for 4 years now and unfortunately the business has changed hands. I gave it a shot and hoped for the best. Such a disappointment. The customer service is horrible and the food not much better. Do yourself a favor and order elsewhere.

I used to love this place. And then tonight happened. We called to order, and the phone connection was spotty at best; I wasn’t 100% sure the woman understood my order, but it seemed ok, and she told me 40 minutes. I paid with my credit card. An hour and a half later, no food. I called back, and another woman answered, and she asked me questions but then didn’t listen to my responses. First she couldn’t find my order, then she couldn’t find my address, and then she didn’t even come up with a solution. A man eventually got on the phone and said he’d call the driver and find out where he is and then said bye and hung up. No offer to refund, no offer for any sort of money off. And then, another 20 minutes later, finally our doorbell rings. The guy shows up with our food, not even an apology, and hands me a cash receipt and asks for $ 23. I told him I paid already, and he just kind of looks at me and grunts and walks back to his car. That was the first time I’ve ever not tipped, and I feel bad about that, but he was over an hour and a half late. And he just walked away; didn’t even really give me a chance to write something on the receipt anyway. The food itself was obviously cold and soggy. My sister had a calzone which was fine, but I had the steak tips wrap and we ordered curly fries to share; ½ the steak in the wrap wasn’t cooked all the way through so I took it out and basically had a lettuce, tomato, & cucumber wrap, and the fries were stale and soggy. So disappointing. We used to order from Maria’s all the time, and now they’ve lost our business.

Just finished up a team meeting where I’d ordered 6 pizzas from Maria’s. It was fantastic — the best I’ve had in the area and everyone loved it. New York style crust and the sauce was perfection for my tastes, and apparently everyone else’s in the meeting as well because it was gone in 5 minutes! The delivery was delayed because I didn’t have my phone with me so they couldn’t confirm which office to deliver to, but when I called them back to clarify, they delivered it immediately. Very professional and courteous. I’ll order again!

Food here is always hot, fresh and ready promptly. The owners and guys who work behind the counter are personable and there isn’t a chance I would choose other pizzeria or sub shop in the area!

Best pizza joint in Arlington. Highly recommend the Bostonian. Other designer pizzas like the BBQ chicken and ultimate veggie are winners. Don’t waste your time trying other places — once you try Maria’s, you won’t wanna go any where else for pizza!

I moved to Arlington recently and I’ve always been a fan of what I call(or what I’ve learned other people call) «New York Style» pizza. You know, the kind that’s thin crust, tomatoey, and the cheese has this certain consistency that is hard to describe but so f’ing good. Anyway, we saw Maria’s had a sign advertising $ 7 large cheese pizza’s on Monday’s and Wednesday’s so we decided to give it a go. The large cheese pizza is the pizza from my dreams. I cannot stop myself from eating half of a large pie when we get it, it is so good. I’ve also ordered grinders, which are also tasty. But I just keep going back to that large cheese pizza.

Maria’s is a great neighborhood pizzeria. The staff is friendly and by our second visit we were on a first name basis with the owner. Expect the staples: pizza, calzones, subs, italian dinners, all of which are great. I particularly love their sausage and peppers. In addition to this, Maria’s is an excellent catering option, from salad to pasta to chicken parmigiana. The owner delivers the trays himself and is always prompt with setup and takedown. Once, we ordered less than we should’ve, and in 30 minutes, an extra tray of everything was delivered!

The food at Maria’s is the tastiest in Arlington. The crew is great and friendly. Their subs are freshly made. The steak tip is my fav sub there. I enjoy it with bbq sause, extra cheese and basil. Their hand streached thin crust pizza is very addicting as well.

Maria’s used to be one of over 9000 pizzerias in the area serving fairly poor Greek pizza. About a year ago or so, it reformatted from bad Greek to bordering-on-adequate Italian. This was already one of the cheaper places in the area but now it’s dirt cheap and this is heavily reflected in the quality of ingredients. The crust now tastes frozen and the sauce is comparatively bland but he cheese is adequately flavorful. They also now provide small paper packets of parmesan, oregano and garlic as a Domino’s like acknowledgment of their pizza’s mediocrity. But for what you pay, there’s really no need for such apologetics. Despite its inferior ingredients, I actually rate Maria’s above Sabatino’s as the sauce isn’t 90% garlic and the crust isn’t grossly undercooked(though it can be overcooked).

If you’re looking for greasy take out pizza in Arlington, this is the one to get. Their new recipe yields a salty sweet pie. Go ahead and add the packets of red pepper flakes, herbs and parmesan cheese to the top. For an extra diet buster get a side of fried ravioli and fried dough babies. YUM.

For quick, cheaper food its a good place to stop by. I tried a Italian hoagies which was decent and the other time a calzone which I wasnt to happy about. Calzone’s normally have ricotta cheese but they do not add it automaticly. It was huge though no clue what a large would be since I had gotten a small. I didnt try the pizza so cant comment on that. I lived in NY so the pizza they had which I think is greek style was just a little to different looking for my taste. Someday I will have to try it from someplace if I go to Boston again.

Woohoo! Maria’s has changed over to hand stretched, thin crust pizzas! I’ve been frequenting Maria’s for about 2 years now, and was always impressed with the friendly service and good subs. But for pizza, I would order delivery from Andrina’s or Sabatino’s. Now, Maria’s is up there with the best pizza in Arlington, which is more convenient for me, since I live right around the corner. Keep up the great work guys!

Maria’s pizza isn’t five stars … for that fancy-schmancy stuff, you might have to go to Za’s down the street and pay oodles and oodles more. But the combination of service and know-how, plus personal attention from Gerard and his staff(a very reliable staff with low turnover, I might add) make Maria’s the perfect neighborhood place and worth a five-star. Their delivery is terrific! Arlington cops eat here all the time and, let’s face it, they have their choice of any pizza place on their beat. Price point is outstanding. I often have a quick meal for under $ 10. Most important about Maria’s is Gerard’s new menu. This guy has poured his heart and soul into the new menu and, I confess, I’m so hooked on the new thin-crust pizza that I haven’t tried other items. But I know he’s tried to source his ingredients from quality places that don;t have other Arlington customers, so you’re getting quality food and unique tastes. The staff is behind the new menu. It’s really worth a try! On the whole, Maria’s is 4.5 stars and the extra half-star for sheer effort and determination to please the East Arlington customer base. I sure wish Maria’s would be able to expand and have more tables inside. That would clinch their status as the place for quick lunch and dinner in East Arlington. But they do have outdoor seating in the spring, summer, and fall — and that makes it fun!

I had always liked this place when I lived near it a few years ago, I moved away — and recently came back to Arlington — so when we decided to order pizza delivered, I naturally thought of Maria’s. Wow, was I shocked at how BAD the pizza was. Totally PRE-MADE and PREVIOUSLYFROZEN — think supermarket quality bad pizza. Crust exactly like one of those crappy frozen food aisle pizzas. just plain sucked. Waste of my money. will not ever order from them again. too bad — obviously looking for better margin dollars than serving good food. dang, too bad.
