Max Mechanical Air Conditioning & Heating

Had a commercial air unit that other companies were saying needed to be replaced at a cost of $ 8000. Max came out and said they could fix it for $ 1000 so we hired them. Within 2 months the unit has gone down again twice and we’ve had to call Max and pay for additional service calls. They didn’t show up on the days they said they would and I had to call back multiple times. Now they are saying it needs to be replaced. Got a quote and had some questions and can’t them to call me back. Very poor service and a rip off. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else.

So, we called this company out, my husband wrote a review based on that part. Today I spoke to the owner who kept saying the huge leak and pipe disconnect in the attic was not his responsibility and it was a plumbing issue. They are not going to fix any of the damage they caused. We called another a/​c company, Metro Air Conditioning today.. they just left and fixed the problem. Funny, pretty sure they aren’t a PLUMBING Company. If Max’s techs were educated at all, they would’ve seen that the main drain from the a/​c unit had a double trap.. it was fixed in 10 minutes. So when Max blow out the line, the pressure caused the connectors to come apart. … All the plumbing in the bathroom, which is what Gary the owner, kept saying was the issue, was clear and good to go. I don’t trust this company as far as knowledge or integrity. Will NOT be using them again!

I have dealt with contractors for many years while acting as a government inspector and as a homeowner and draw from a wealth of experience when I say that you should not select Max Mechanical for any HVAC work at your home. My contact with Max Mechanical was for a basic tune-​up and to clear a clogged primary drain line. The tech. that showed up was Troy and he was very nice and very knowledgable. He charged my system, pointed at future problems that I may have and stated that I had a lot of garbage in the main drain that he cleared out and it was draining well… technically he was correct but unknown to him, when he blew the line out, he blew apart the drain line at a connection point and it was in fact draining… right into my attic. I noticed it when another tech arrived 2 days later and water started pouring out of 2 recessed lights and a large water stain is now on my ceiling in the living room. When the owner (Gary) finally returned my wife’s calls, he stated that it wasn’t his responsibility and was instead a plumbing issue. I’m at a loss for words at his response since his tech. created the problem and am considering something I have never done in my 51 years, suing someone.

After 2 days with no AC I called this place to get an estimate on a new condenser. The person they sent was a joke. He looked at my outside unit, didn’t test anything. Never went upstairs to see the inside unit. After 3 minutes of being in my home he sat me down and started trying to sell me on a total new system for over $ 8000 (inside and outside units). He told me my upstairs unit was NOT compatible with the new 410 condenser and that I needed to replace both. I’ve been told any new unit replaced in the last 10 years should be compatible with both and mine was just installed 7 years ago. Something didn’t feel right so after he left I called another place. They came right out checked both inside and outside which took about 20 minutes. This guy told me my upstairs unit is compatible with 410A and gave me a quote for just the condenser, the only thing that was actually in need of replacement. $ 1000 cheaper than Max Mechanical and they actually took the time to check the whole system and give me honest feedback. My family has used Max Mechanical for over 10 years but after this I’m not sure we will ever call them for service again.
