Office parties seem to like this place. Every time I try their pizza, I’m disappointed. Walked by this place enough to walk in. Maybe their restaurant pizza is better than the bulk office orders. Ordered the Edge of the Woods. The thin eggplants are basically like eggplant chips that would actually make a tasty side. Flavor combination of the pizza is good, but I just either don’t like New Haven pizza crust or it’s not very well made. The crust is just always so hard. Not a fan. Also pricey. $ 9 for a small that leaves you hungry.

Stopped by yesterday for lunch and was well pleased. I got a slice of pepperoni pizza and the pasta linguine with grilled chicken to-go and I must say, it was pretty awesome. The pizza was very flavorful, better than any I have had in a long while and the Linguine was absolutely delicious. It was freshly made and a huge portion which I took home for dinner and shared. Great food, great service. I will definitely try this place out again. Awesome

We live within walking distance to Pete’s and order for pick up about once a month. Consistent and dependable neighborhood pizza joint. We’ve eaten there, on their patio, and enjoyed wine and beer as well. Favorites: Margherita w/meatballs, Boola Boola, and the crispy goat cheese salad. The small pizza is 10″, medium is 14″ and large is 18″ We usually order a Medium and have 2 – 3 slices left over. We’ll call to order and the pizza is usually ready in 10 minutes or so(even if they tell us 15 – 20). A great go-to place, that we’ll continue to frequent!

I recommend either the Edge of the Woods or The Green specialty pizza. Note that a medium size pizza is more than sufficient to feed two hungry people but a small is not enough for two people. A large will result in left-overs which are commonly used to reheat later in standard pizza take-out boxes. There are only two unisex bathrooms so I recommend not needing to use these restrooms in a hurry as they will likely by in use when you need them. Bathroom use should be planned in advance here. Good deals include signing up for the Groupon, and Monday half-off if one can plan ahead. There may be other coupons but I do not think those are as cost-effective. Service speed can be further enhanced so I recommend ordering before one is hungry as it can take at least 20 – 30 minutes to receive one’s order. Overall, this is an A-OK place to eat as an excellent value for the money.

Visited Saturday at 11:30a on a sunny 70 degree-like weather day and business was steady. Meal came timely. Pizza sizes are small for the price, ditto for the salad. We ordered a caesar salad and small pizza. The romaine lettuce was fresh and crunchy. The accompanied cheese wafer and croutons were hand made and the dressing was good. We ordered a small margarita pizza base and added crumbled sausage and red onion(for two adults). The pizza was tasty; we wished we had ordered a medium. The amount of toppings was well-proportioned, the flavors and sauce was very good. The craft sodas are tasty. We left at 12:45p and business was booming. We would return again.

Atmosphere: Good, large restaurant, big windows and a nice outdoor area Food: Just not that good. My work always orders Pete’s for parties and I hate it because sometimes I almost want to turn down a free meal. The pizza is just flavorless and hard. Their options for pizza slices are just odd and not really that appetizing looking. They offer a decent lunch special but it just isn’t enough to bring me back.

If you like pizza with a crispy crust, look no further. This is the real deal. Back home, we called it Boston Style pizza, and the signature is a crispy crust. They do it right!

Their customer service was just as dry as their pizza. Don’t believe the hype. Nothing to write home to mom abt!

Yum! The Nighthawk is scrumptious with all my fav toppings: mushrooms, caramelized onions, pesto, chicken and mozzarella! The crust is crispy and flavorful. A bit pricey but worth the treat. This place definitely makes me want to try the pizza up in New Haven! Pete’s is not on grubhub so you’ll have to call for delivery and make sure you’re in their zone(my address barely made it… phew!).

Not sure I understand the hype. The pizza is good, but not amazing. Went three times, but never left feeling super happy or satisfied.

Wanted to like Pete’s New Haven but just couldn’t. The food here is mediocre — reminded me of baking frozen food from the market. Ordered a 9″ personal margherita pizza — it was super hot with a hard scratchy crust. The kind where you know it was overbaked. I could barely taste any mozorella on it. Not memorable. Also had their lasagna which was equally forgettable. The service was pretty iffy for a Friday night– orders kept getting confused and I even saw one table send back their pizza. This place is only convenient for location and that they sell by the slice. //pass //

Really, really good pizza. These guys have put together one of the best pies I’ve ever had. The ingredients are fresh and excellent. They have a lot of tasty combinations on the menu including a new haven clam pizza that is not often seen this far south. The staff and management are caring and thoughtful and focused on making their customers very happy. However, what really sets Pete’s on a higher plane is the crust. It is crispy, but substantial and chewy. Excellent dough cooked just right. And if you manage to have any leftovers, they have instructions on the box as to how you should reheat the pizza! It’s a method I would bet you never thought of, and it makes the leftovers at least as good as the fresh pie was yesterday. This is my favorite pizza place in the area. Oh and they also have a topping that I cannot believe every pizza place doesn’t have… Cherry peppers.

I love Pete’s pizza – best in DC by far. The ingredients are fresh, the prices are reasonable, the dough is excellent. It’s what pizza should be. I can see why other people like 2-Amy’s and 7th Hill and &pizza, and all of those are good. But if I had Pete’s near me I would always go there. I also like that they have nice deserts and delicious sodas. The service is fast and efficient no matter how many people are in line. I don’t know what else to say other than this place is solid, if you’re reading this review you probably can’t go wrong at Pete’s. It has something for everyone and is really nice and good. There are no gimmicks, just good food in a nice setting. I’ve been to two locations and both were beautiful inside, big, and the service was awesome.

This review is written in the heat of the moment, so take that for what’s its worth. I ordered a pizza for pickup. I mentioned I had a coupon on the phone and was rung up appropriately. I assumed because he told me the final price I didn’t need to bring said coupon. I got there and the chef asks for it. I tell him I don’t have it for that reason, plus, if I knew what the deal was, obviously I had one. He basically calls me a liar and tells me he’s adding on $ 6 to my bill. Well, you just lost a customer. I don’t need my pizza guy calling me a liar. For the record, here’s a picture of my coupon.

First time there: now I understand what New Haven style pizza is, very thin, but very crispy, and VERY chewy, and delicious. I shared a small Margherita and a small Nighthawk without the onions and mushrooms(I am picky) and they were delicious. I circled the block while my husband went to pick up, joining long lines of folks. We had called ahead so it was no wait but clearly crowded and clearly popular. This was not the style pizza I am used to, but certainly a style I will want to get used to. I reallly liked it. And when we got home, I reheated as they said to on the box. I never knew that method, and it worked very well, so much better than microwaving it. So… good meal AND a new way to reheat pizza. Eat and learn: what more could I ask for?

This pizza is okay but not the best pizza I’ve ever had. I’d try out another place before this place in the area. The location is convenient and the staff was nice but it wasn’t anything special.

I stop in here to grab a quick bite to eat and write out my grocery list. Simple process. Order your food, grab your drink, sit at your assigned table and wait for your food to come. I usually order the veggie pizza slice. Spinach, tomatoes, olives, artichokes. It’s good. It definitely stops the stomach from growling. Today, I’m ordering the small arancini balls. Hope they’re tasty. It’s taking a while for them to cook. Or, maybe I’m just hungry and impatient. I wonder if the shrimp pesto pasta is still on the menu. If so, it’s delicious. Anyway, happy eating. The arancini balls are good. Plentiful. Now I won’t buy up the entire grocery store.

Dear Pete’s You are what I’ve been looking for 3 years. Your server(Bruno?) is polite… He dealt with a female so drunk she tried to pay foR $ 8 worth of pizza with $ 1& Giftcards to other places. Anyways, even at 12:30 am I am in love with your pizza. It’s crispy. And perfect. And I am so glad I finally found you. I will never eat another pizza again for as long as I am in the DC/Baltimore area(unless it is to compare against yours;) thank you for bringing real pizza to the area. I love you. Elle

This is the only delivery/takeout pizza(non-jumbo slice) in the DC metro area that I’ve tried that isn’t completely mediocre/terrible. In fact, I am a pretty big fan of Pete’s. I usually only go if there is a promotion as the pizzas are kinda expensive but lucky for me(and everyone), they often have them. I got on their email distro and they have monthly specials there. They also frequently have groupons, and the last couple months on Mondays all whole pies are half off(their medium is like a large in most other places)! My go-to is the staven. I love peppers, garlic, pepperoni, and some serious spice, and the staven has all that. The crust is thin but crispy, and the flavors meld together well. It tastes good reheated too, as long as you heat it in a stove top pan. I will eventually have to try some of the other pizza flavors.
