I had a positive experience at this location. The sales associate Sharon, was very helpful and nice to me. I went into this store after being disappointed the rockville location didn’t have the item I was looking for even after me calling to confirm availability. The computer showed the store had two but they couldn’t find it. Another sales associate was helping me prior to Sharon but she gave up looking for the item and tried to get me to purchase something else. I was adamant about what I wanted and Sharon offered to help assist me. I purchased a mirror mosaic to hang over the sectional in my living room. It adds character and glamour to my living area. I saw the mosaic online first but I didn’t want to pay for shipping so I went into the store to buy it and see in it person. Pictures does it no justice! I’m very satisfied with my purchased and picked up some candles and throw blanket also.

I recently purchased several pieces of furniture from the Arlington VA store for one of my children who was moving to the area. I had a wonderful experience with this store and its employees. They are friendly, attentive, helpful, and extremely responsive. I’d like to give a special mention to Gloria who actually went out of her way to hand-deliver a piece of furniture that was inadvertently left out by the delivery service. Overall, Pier 1 has attractive furniture at very reasonable prices. I would highly recommend Pier 1 furniture in general and the Arlington VA store in particular.

We recently made a large purchase at Pier 1(over $ 2000). At the urging of the sales associate, we opened up a Pier 1 credit card in order to get a 20% discount. We were initially very reluctant to do this because we hate store credit cards. However, we were assured that we could quickly pay off the balance and close the account. We were also told that a complete refund would not be a problem if items were returned in good shape, on time, with a receipt, etc. We immediately paid off the balance, even before all of our ordered items had arrived. One of the chairs did not match, so we attempted to return it to the Pier 1 store. The manager insisted that we were only entitled to a store credit or a credit back to the Pier 1 account, which was now paid in full and closed. They refused to give us cash or even ensure that we could get a check from their corporate headquarters(as indicated on their website). They kept pushing the store credit, which, needless to say, we did not want at this point. They kept saying our dispute was with the bank, and so now we are fighting with the bank to get our money back. Pier 1 needs to be very clear with customers as to how refunds are handled, especially in situations like this where we made it clear that this account would not be active. I know salespeople are eager to make sales and want to make the deal as tempting as possible, with offers of discounts and assurances of refunds for any reason. However, a credit is NOT a refund. They are holding our money hostage. Their over-zealous sales tactics coupled with the complete lack of customer assistance on the back end ensures that we will never shop at Pier 1 again.
