Two great pairs of boots, brought back to life! Great service. Ready when promised. They even took the time to clean & shine them — they looked like new!!!
I highly recommend this place.

This man is marvelous. He’s honest, highly professional, and does a perfect job on shoes. He appears to be a great mentor to his small staff of workers who either are excellent already, or whom he gently corrects to ensure they’ll be topnotch professionals too.

Whenever I come in here I have a sense of going back in time. Back to a place where stuff was actually durable, and people cared about repairing rather than throwing away.
I love the smell of leather, and the owner always does a great job. It’s so much less expensive to bring all my shoes in every couple of years and get them resoled, cleaned up and ready to go.
I’m not someone who «stays up with the latest fashion.» In fact, I find shoe shopping a pain — it’s so hard to find something that is both stylish and comfortable. So when I do find something, I want it to last.
Having Sam’s so close by is such a blessing, because I know my loved shoes will be taken care of and look like new at the other end.

Just got back a pair of black suede booties that I took in with mud stains everywhere and they came back beautiful and clean! I’ve taken a couple different pairs of shoes here over the years and they have never disappointed in the end product. Reasonable prices but plan ahead for any shoe drop offs as turnaround time is usually a week to 10 days.

Over the years, I’ve taken in five pairs or so of shoes on their last legs, favorites we didn’t want to let go. And every time, Sam Torrey has performed a miraculous repair to extend their lives at a very reasonable price. The latest was a torn strap on a Merrell sandal, my wife’s favorite sandals. The owner at Sam Torrey tried to talk me out of repairing the shoe, pointing out numerous problems that would fail later. He said he could do a repair but he’d have to charge me $ 20. My wife insisted so we went ahead. The repair was seamless, you can’t even spot where the repair was done, and we were only charged $ 15. I love this place.
One caution — the store is strictly first in, first out. If you need an instant repair, this is not the place. And the store is very busy so you’ll often be waiting 10 days or even more for your item.

I would give ZERO stars if I could. I have been to Sam Torrey twice (going back the second time was a mistake), and both times the owner was condescending, rude, and unhelpful. The service is slow (took three weeks to resole a pair of shoes) and expensive (resole service cost nearly $ 100). Both times, the shoes were NOT ready when they were promised, and the owner YELLED at me like it was my fault for not calling ahead of time (well, I came in on the date my ticket indicated!). Then he told me he had called when I knew he hadn’t – I didn’t have a missed call on my phone, which meant he was lying to my face. Don’t go here. I recommend Golden Shoe Repair in a heartbeat – much friendlier staff, reasonably priced, and much quicker!

I have been exceptionally happy with their service for both women’s and men’s shoes. I’ve also had boots done here as well. I have found them to be prompts or at least give me an accurate return time for all repair work.

First off I just need to say that the guy who works there is completely disrespectful and condescending.
I went here to get leather work done to my chair. Mainly having reinforced straps put in to hold it’s integrity.
He told me it would be a month and then never called. So I called and he said it would be ready at the end of the week. It wasn’t.
Same thing again the following week.
When I finally got it back the leather straps weren’t the same length and the for the main seat is poorly done.
My girlfriend used to get her shoes done there but we have decided to move somewhere where the staff has the courtesy to call if us if they can’t deliver on what was promised and who appreciate our business.

I’ve been going here for years. They’ve fixed my shoes and my luggage and made my keys. Everything always turns out as good as it possibly can. i tried other repair places before I found them and, I’ve tried other repair places in other cities. No on compares.

NOT GOOD WITH SUEDE! I took some suede chukkas in to get them cleaned and got them back even worse. The nap is permanently combed in all different directions so they instantly look 1 – 2 years older. May be good with other shoe types but not suede

Excellent service. Can tell they really took care with my shoes.
Only tip is that they don’t always call you when shoes are ready, so you should just call them or drop by.

I seriously cannot believe the magic the guys work. Every single pair of my worn down heels and boots have been transformed to their original state. Staff is super nice, to boot (pun intended)!

Sam Torrey does such a great job, and for a great price! I never imagined how good my shoes/​boots could look. It was as if I came home with 6 new pair! I pass the name along to everyone I know, and encourage them to go nowhere else! Thanks for hooking Arlington up, Sam Torrey!

My favorite black suede pumps have been dying a slow death for the last year and a half and i haven’t been able to wear them in months. It seemed all was lost but I couldn’t/wouldn’t let them go :(
Brought them in on a chance they could be decently patched up but they came out better than I ever expected! Literally look like brand new! $ 12.00 is a great deal for a treasured pair of shoes versus spending $ 80+ on a new pair.
Not only are my shoes beautiful again but turnaround was 24 hours, really amazing given how popular this place is.
I will definitely be trusting my all shoes to Sam Torrey’s!

I have been using this shoe service for the past five years. They are worth the trip from the district.

My puppy chewed up the tip of an expensive belt. Bad dog. I threw it in a box and forgot about it. (The belt, not the dog, what kind of asshole do you think I am?!)
The dog now has arthritis and is going grey, and I recently rediscovered my old favorite belt. Unfortunately the maker has been out of business for years so I couldn’t get them to repair it.
So I swung it by Sam Torrey. What the heck, I figured they can’t make it any worse. Before agreeing to do the work, the guy at the desk took the time to explain what the repair would look like and that due to the existing stitching, it would have imperfections on the edge. He quoted me a very reasonable price and said it would be done in a week. They did require full payment up front.
One week later, the belt looks great. As promised, the repair job isn’t 100% perfect, but unless someone’s within about 2 feet and staring intently at my waist, they’ll never know. I’m very happy with the work and the service.

The best shoe repair place in DC metro area. Take destroyed shoes here, they’ll come back looking like new. Amazing! Even if you just need a good polish job, the guys here will do a better job than you can do yourself. I now take my shoes here once a month for a «spa treatment.»

My first time here, the boots came out great! Price and service is way better than the one in the Tyson’s mall!

I have been going to Sam Torrey’s for several years now and have been very happy with their services. The men there have been at it for years and do a fantastic job with the shoes. I routinely bring my work shoes in to be re-​heeled and the shoes come back looking brand new every time (spit-​shined leather, re-​dyed suede, etc). When I lamented that the soles on my favorite pair of work shoes were on their last legs, they were up front with me that there really wasn’t much they could do for that pair, *sniff*, but explained to me exactly what they could do for any other shoes I was worried about. I’m pleased to say that all of my other work shoes are going strong.
One specific instance of excellent customer service I’d like to call out involves a very expensive pair of Frye boots. Due to my incredible stupidity, I wore my leather soled Frye boots throughout the winter, resulting in the literal deterioration of the sole’s toe area. When I brought this to Sam Torrey’s, they told me there was nothing they could do, but told me that typically Frye is wonderful about these type of things and said I should call and see if they would resole them. If they did, Sam Torrey’s guys said to immediately bring them back to the shop where they would put rubber/​plastic soles on them to prevent this from ever happening again. Not only did Frye fix the boots for free, but they’re still in perfect shape 3 years later thanks to the protective soles.
The only downside is that they are occasionally the victims of their own success and it can take a while to get your shoes back around the holidays and other busy times.

Just go here. Busted heels, leather insoles, and scratches that I thought were all beyond repair, have all been fixed here for a super fair price. Turnaround is pretty good too.
I have trusted this man with my Louboutins (which really do have crappy heels and insoles, but hey, I wanted the red sole…) my Bruno Maglis, Frye boots, you name it… all were back and up to snuff. My parents have gone to this place for years – my dad’s shoes are all redone with Vibram soles and my mom has had many handbag straps fixed here too.
They have a good selection of nice shoe brushes, laces and insoles as well.
