Just ate the veggie plate with collards, yams and green beans. It was delicious and well seasoned The owner gave us great service with southern hospitality.

I visited on a Sunday afternoon and would say my experience was decent. The employees, especially the woman who took my order, were very friendly. They were still setting up so it took awhile to get our food. The ordering process was a little confusing because there was the buffet but also menu items. The food was good, some of it better than others. Another reviewer mentioned that this isn’t traditional Texas BBQ and that’s a spot on observation. If you like soul food/southern cuisine I think you should give this place a chance. I bet you’ll like it.(Oh, and Kool-Aid on tap! Best thing ever.)

Let me start by saying I will definitely be back! I had the fried chicken(dark meat) with black eyed peas, cornbread, and mac & cheese. The black eyed peas had some smoked beef in them to add a little extra flavor. I’m used to pork in peas, but this worked. The chicken was flavorful and well cooked. Now, I don’t mean well done. It was moist and DONE, without being overdone/dry. Everything I had was great. I also picked up some peach cobbler to go. Also great. The cobbler was a little overcooked on top, but that actually added to the flavor(already great) a bit. Oh! The cobbler was SWEET without being«oh my, my jaw is hurting that’s so sweet!» The restaurant is what I would call a strip center hole in the wall. SMALL with a few tables inside. Kind of cramped. The service was fast and friendly. I was asked at least twice if everything was alright or if I needed anything. As I said before, I’ll definitely be back. Maybe I’ll try some of the BBQ next time, since BBQ is in the name. :)

Well, its a very warm and hospitable place with some good smoked meats, sides, and cobbler. It’s quite a change from Texas style BBQ, so if that’s what you’re looking for, you won’t get it here. If you’re looking for something different and to experience some very Mississipi style hospitality and food, its well worth the visit.

We had rib tips, smothered chicken, collard greens, cabbage, and Mac & cheese. Everything was delicious! The owners were so nice. We went on a Saturday night at 7 and no one was there. They said the college games cause them to be slower. If you are nearby, stop in and support this local business… You will be glad you did!

My new fav place for bbq in arlington. The owners gave me the best experience there. They’re so sweet and so friendly and really care about you. The food was amazingggggggg. extremely fresh and hot and booming with flavor. The proportions were huge and cuts of meat were gigantic. Did not disappoint at all

I only gave this restaurant 2 stars because the service was excellent and the people are really nice but the food was terrible and not worth the price. We ordered over $ 70 worth of food and wasted our money. We threw half of the food away. The fried catfish and fries were soggy and they tasted like the grease had not been changed in a very long time. The sweet potato pie was bland it tasted like no sugar was used at all. The greens were ok but I get better greens at Cracker Barrel. The mac n cheese was very dry and tasteless. The yams were canned. I don’t have a problem with canned food but they tasted like the can even my children did not like them and they love anything sweet. I don’t know if we went on a bad day but it was enough for me to never eat here again.

I’m glad I came here for my cheat meal!!! I was recommended to try the fried chicken dipped in BBQ sauce which was amazing. The Mac and cheese was gooey, moist and cheesey. The green beans were cooked just right and tasty. I got my order to go because I assumed I was going to have left overs but I literally devoured my whole meal(surprisingly for a petite girl). I also bought the lemon pecan cake to go. This cake reminded of nothing bundt cakes except it is even better. It was so moist and not too sweet at all. ***Spent around $ 10 which is a great deal

Sistah’s where have you been all of my life. I was raised in SE Georgia so I’ve missed some down home southern cooking. Sistah’s is exactly that. We arrived right when they opened with our bellies growling. We had the place to ourselves. We were greeted by a very sweet lady. The place is little. So little they don’t have a public bathroom. The storage closet is their bathroom. However, she was nice enough to let my kids«go». You can order BBQ or soul food. I went with the BBQ. Ever since my husband had rib tips in Memphis he’s been on the hunt for them here. I decided to try them for him while he was at work. Ha. I realized though you can’t compare Memphis style vs MS style while I was there. My kids got fried catfish with fries. Everything was still being prepared and set up so she put Cartoons on for the kids. They sell $ 1 jumbo dill pickles. It took be back to my childhood in Georgia for moment. Mama or Grandma would give you money so you can go to the corner store to get you out of their hair. The corner stores sold jumbo dill pickles. You were a cool kid if you was walking around with a jumbo dill pickle. I was even cooler because I had sunflower seeds to go along with them. Fast forward to these rib tips. Oh, and the cabbage and greens too. My goodness. The cabbage and greens were lovely and practically melted in your mouth. The cornbread was buttery. The rib tips were so good. Sweet with a hint of smokiness. After all that, the banana pudding topped it off. Just like my Great Grandma used to make it. I wish my husband came with to carry me out. I need a nap now.

Hands down the worst barbeque I’ve ever had my life ! Ribs nothing but bones and fat ! Nothing I ordered was good don’t waste your money She tries to tell you all I asked for more food ! She’s a got damn lying bitch ! Absolutely not I ask for my money back, all of it ! Anytime you pay for ribs by the lb. There’s no way more then half the weight should be fat and bones ! Again a total waste of good money

Ordered the turkey and macaroni cheese the other day in a to go box for lunch. Very rude customer service: Got a nasty message from the owner saying that I give too many negative reviews — go ahead, check my reviews, mostly 5 stars… The owner herself(Grinda) has only 1 review at the time of this post and it is 1 star to a business… Talk about a hypocrite! –2 stars. Food was mediocre. Prices are a little high. I was still hungry after spending $ 10 here for lunch. Turkey was edible, mac n’ cheese was disgusting and I freaking love mac n’ cheese. Would rather eat from Kraft or Velveta. –2 stars. The macaroni and cheese was microwaved and the Styrofoam melted into the Mac n cheese, causing a hole into the box. Cancer hazard. –30 stars. Out of my 28 reviews I have never given a 1 star review. Congratulations, you’re the first! No idea what they laced the food with for other people to give them any better than 2 stars… Try David’s B-B-Q down the road or Spring Creek. I had it the other day and they were MUCH better!!! If you want to live longer, I don’t recommend going to this restaurant. You are neither supporting kind people nor are you going to get much for your money. Add a 1 or 2 star review if you want to be harassed by the owner on Unilocal messages! She’s very mature.

I’ve been eyeing this place for a while trying to pick a work day I could go and grab lunch. Today was the day and I got there right at 11, hoping there wouldn’t be a wait, and I was lucky because only me and another lady there. The lady was very friendly, and helpful. They were still setting up some food to put out and we waited a couple minutes, no biggie and then ordered. I got the smothered pork chop as a sandwich, why I don’t know I had a craving for smothered pork chops but then I was kinda hungry for a sandwich, dummy me forgot there was probably a few bones on those chops… so that was my bad for not thinking of that ahead of time. It was good I wish there was more onions/gravy though. I got it with French Fries and Mac & Cheese. I would definitely get the Mac & Cheese again, but the fries not so much. I ordered a Brisket Sandwich plate for my friend and co-worker and she loved it, she got it with Yams & Mac & Cheese. Next time. I’m thinking BBQ. And I will probably call ahead so theres less wait. Overall great place!

Finally a soul food spot with variety that caters to the Arlington area. Before Sistah’s I was a big fan of Damien’s but the issue with Damien’s is I only enjoy their seafood etoufee. Everything else was just ok but I would not order it again. They also lack in the variety offered in their daily options. I absolutely recommend their BBQ meatloaf. Unique, well done and I love the BBQ sauce. It doesn’t overpower the meat or drown it out but it isn’t dry either. Just right! My favorite sides are the corn(regular corn kernels, nothing fancy, not creamed or sweet), and their mashed potatoes! I really love the mashed potatoes with the brown gravy(and I typically prefer cream gravy but they only offer brown gravy or BBQ sauce). The BBQ sauce is a different spin on «gravy» for the mashed potatoes but it works. I still prefer the brown gravy though. The mashed potatoes itself are served with the skin! My sister loves the mac and cheese side and my Mom loves the greens! Their peach cobbler is pretty good. Not the best I have had but what I love about their version of the peach cobbler is their double crust which includes pie throughout the cobbler and encasing the peach cobbler.

Ive pasted this location many times and didn’t know it was there. If you not paying attention you could miss it on the corner of the strip center. I have to agree with most of the reviews on this one. This is a great place to stop and get some good southern home cooking. I went with the soul food this visit and it was hard to decide what to get. Everything looked so good. The daily specials are less then 10 bucks and you are given decent portion sizes. Its nice to have a place to get some down south home cooking right here in Arlington.

When you walk in you have one question to answer, but it’s a doozy: «Do you want barbecue or do you want soul food?» Looking at the line of food in the kitchen I wanted it all. Settled on barbecue for this visit with a promise to myself that I’d be back to try the soul food soon. Ordered the two meat with sausage and ribs, plus collard greens and mac & cheese as my sides with Texas toast. The ribs were perfect — they were tender with the right amount of bite — and the sausage was excellent. The greens were a highlight as well, with bits of pulled pork in for added flavor. My all time favorite side dish, mac and cheese, was incredible and obviously made from scratch. Despite the huge portions I finished everything. I just happened to see this place while driving down Arkansas Lane on a Saturday afternoon and decided to give it a try. Best decision I have made in weeks.

This right here– why I love the south. Food full of love and service like you are family. I walked in one friday afternoon just after peak lunch hours– so the place was empty. We were immediately greeted by a sweet young lady behind the counter and she asked if it was our first time because she didn’t recognize us. We assured her that we had never been before and she started talking about all the food that they had that day since the menu rotates. She also offered samples if we wanted to try any of the sides before committing. All three of us stood there in awe staring and drooling at the extensive menu and delicious sides in the steam trays before us. We all settled on combo plates so that we could try a variety of sides and proteins. We ended up sampling ribs, sausage, brisket, corn, yams, greens, potato salad, baked beans and the mac and cheese. It was like watching a real life Hungry Hippos going ham on those marbles– but it was our mouths and the three massive plates of food that were so full of love that it makes you want to slap the other people trying to eat. The yams were perfectly sweet with a kiss of cinnamon and nutmeg and just melted in your mouth. The greens had bits of rib meat and the perfect tang you expect from a cook who knows how to get down in the kitchen. The meat on the ribs was just falling apart– we couldn’t even pick them up to eat them. One of the Sistahs came over to chat after we all sat back rubbing our tummys in complete bliss. She talked about how they opened and made sure we were happy with our meals. You really do feel at home here– love is just radiating from this beautiful dive. We parted with to go cake and a big hug from the darling ladies who tended us– actually I pretty much rolled to the car.
