Horrible, unreliable connection. Tried for several months to fix an issue, to no avail. This was after Skybeam took over the prior provider. They apparently dropped their bandwith to save money. Switched to Tier One Networks, and service was what I was expected.

stay away from this place and use a different internet provider! they lie to you and you never get the mbps that you are promised.

I wasn’t sure whether to try to add another category for this business, since IT Services & Computer Repair is far too vague — anyway, this is an ISP — and not a good one. I live in a rural area with almost no options for internet service — Skybeam provides WISP(wireless, but not cellular) service in my area. The only other options available to me is cellular. I have complained about excruciatingly slow service since they bought out my old wisp a few years ago — and they just don’t care. The tower that provides my service has been frequently knocked out, and if it occurs on Friday it usually stays out until Monday. This really sucks because I use my internet mostly on the weekends. A few months ago I had a problem with the equipment(antenna/receiver) on my roof. Called support and they said it would be THREEWEEKS before it they could send someone out. Kept calling and they finally sent someone out after about a week and a half. Asked about credit for the down time and was told we would have to contact the billing office, which is only open during the hours that I work, making it nearly impossible for me to do. So I ended up paying for about a third of a month(roughly $ 17) with NOSERVICE. This is on top of the MANY weekends I’ve spent with no service. They just don’t seem to care. I guess they know I have no other options. Luckily, the tech who came out last time was sympathetic and knowledgeable. He put a riser on my receiver to get a better line of site to the tower. After nearly 3 years of complaining, I finally got the speeds I had been paying for all along. There are still days when it crawls, and intermittent outages, but before he did this, I NEVER got good speeds. I’m thankful for this tech(and wish I could remember his name so I could publicly praise him) but WHYDIDN’T SKYBEAMDOTHISMUCHSOONER? 3YEARSOFBADSERVICEBEFORETHEYFIXEDIT? I really hope another ISP moves into my area someday and wipes Skybeam off the landscape here. If a decent service were available, me and ALL of my neighbors would gladly switch.
